Lucas Pov
I don't know where I was but it was a place that had brought me down memory lane.
"Do you want a mate?"
"Of course but honestly no. I feel like I already have one but I know .. I know,"
Hope grabbed my hand and just held it for a few moments.
"Thank you."
"For?"
"Coming,"
"Any time Hope,"
"My heart, my heart hurts so much," She could barely speak but she grabbed me by the collar so she wouldn't fall.
"I know, I'm sorry. It happens every year on her birthday," I said. I lifted her head to meet her eyes and she wanted to cry. She grabbed my face and started to kiss me. It was slow at first and then started to pick up. I moved my hands to her waist and gripped her dress tight in my fingers. I was starting to kiss her faster and more fiercely but I pulled away.
"Oh my god, I'm sorry. I can't," she cried out.
"I could really use my friend right about now," I thought. Have I really done something so wrong in my past life that I deserve this now? There was suddenly a bright light and when I blinked I was in the clearing again.
"Lucas,"
"Aidan,"
"What the hell, am I dreaming?" he asked.
"Damn it, did you die?" I asked.
"No, you i***t,"
"Holy s**t, how are you?" I asked my long-lost friend.
"I'm good, thanks to you," he said.
"Right," I remembered what happened the last time I had seen him.
"What about you?" he asked. "You're here, and you're alive." Aidan didn't sound so sure about that.
"I'm good, I am alive I guess for a little while longer,"
"What? What do you mean?"
"It doesn't matter,"
"It does, come home, brother, we have missed you,"
"We,"
"Lucas,"
"No, it's okay. I found my mate, Aidan. Her name is Elena, she is wonderful,"
"That's fantastic, bring her and we can all-,"
"I don't think I can, I don't even know what's going on,"
"What do you mean?"
"I don't know what this is but this isn't real, I have to go back to her. I just don't know how to do that,"
"What do you mean this isn't real?"
"It could be a dream or my mind playing tricks on me,"
"It feels pretty real, brother,"
"I know but it's not,"
"Hmm, what me to go get Hop-,"
"No, please, no,"
"I thought you said you were over it,"
"I am but she is my best friend too and I don't think I am ready for all that,"
"Well, it was good seeing you, whatever this is, I am glad I got to see you again,"
"Don't cry on me now?" I said.
"i***t, I am not going to cry but I did want to say thank you. I watched my kids grow up and spent my days with the love of my life. I owe you so much, I owe you everything and I am happy you can have that for yourself, brother. If anyone deserves it, it's you."
"Thank you, I meant what I said to Hope, we had a bond, not just me and her. The three of us did," I told Aidan. " We have come a long way, my brother. I am so happy you and your family are good. That's all I ever wanted." We smiled at each other.
"Goodbye brother,"

~FLASH BACKS~
I reached the border of my territory within minutes. I knew I had to protect my children at all costs and my wife. I ran with anger and intent. There were only five but they were relentless. They wanted to fight their way onto my land. I was ganged up on but my men had my back. Suddenly one of them came lunging at me and I tried to move out of the way but another was ready to attack me on the other side. Lucas jumped in front of me and took the blow. He was knocked across the field and then another came and placed his paw on his neck. I tried to run to him but he had already taken the blow. I pushed the rogue off of Lucas and mind-linked Lucas to hold on. I knew it was futile since his neck was badly cut. If I hadn't gotten the rogue off in time his neck would have snapped.
"Lucas, thank you, my brother," I said.
"Anytime," he said softly. "I love you man and I'm sorry."
"Me too," I replied. "s**t!! NO!!!" Within seconds he was gone.

"She doesn't remember me," I said to myself. She went on a date with that Calvin jackass. Damn it, this was hell, it surely was. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I don't know if seeing Aidan was a dream or not but when I made it back here I knew what I needed to do. I needed to fight for Elena. The moon goddess said I had little time but she also said Elena was the best match for me. I will fix this. I will make her remember. I didn't know how especially since I was stuck as a wolf but I would do this. Aidan was right, I deserve to be happy. I was glad I got to see him again. Everything that happened never changed a thing between us. He was my friend, my family, my brother.
"Tomorrow," he said. "I'll pick you up again, same time," I heard Calvin say. He tried to kiss her. The bastard tried to kiss her. Thank goodness, she didn't let him. She still felt something for me. I know it.
"He's a good guy Elena, give him a chance," she told herself. I was going to lose her if I didn't think fast.
Elena stood at the door, I stepped out of the shadows. She looked scared but didn't move or close the door. She looked into my eyes.
"I will find my way back to you,"
