Lucas Pov
Everything was perfect. We spent every day together. I was practically living with Elena at this point. We had many fantastic nights together and incredible mornings too. We had long walks and even longer conversations about our lives and interests. I knew so much about her but she still didn't know everything about me.
"Lucas," Elena called.
"Yes,"
"You okay?" she asked. "You spaced out for a second."
"Oh, no, I'm good," I told her.
"So, tell me about your family? You hardly speak about them," she asked.
"Oh, well," I began to think about what to say or more so what not to say. " My parents were really kind and hard working. They cared about their family and friends. I don't have any siblings but I had a childhood best friend that was like a brother to me. We did everything together. In high school, we made a few friends, and the five of us we inseparable. We took care of one another and were truly loyal. Our families were close."
"Why did you leave?" Elena asked.
"It was time for me to go," I said.
"Oh, don't you want to go back?" she asked.
"I don't think I can," I told her. "And it's better to leave that life behind me. I have you now." She slowly smiled at me.
"So you tell me something about you that I don't know?" I asked.
"Okay, don't laugh," she said seriously. "I met this wolf when I first moved here. He was nice and came around a lot. I talked to him and had walked with him through the woods." She looked at me with a stern look.
"What," I laughed.
"You think I am crazy," she said.
"No," I smiled. "I bet he was nice."
"He was real," she huffed.
"I believe you," I reassured her.
"Really,"
"Yes,"
"Okay, good. I haven't seen him in a while, I hope he is okay," she said.
"He is," I said. Elena smiled and I went over to sit near her.
"Lucas, can I say something and you not laugh,"
"Sure, I mean I didn't laugh at your wolf buddy story,"
"I don't know why but I feel so complete and safe when I am with you," she said. "I have never felt like this before. I thought I wouldn't feel anything ever again after my parents died. What I am trying to say is, I like you. I like you a lot and this, this works. I don't want this to go away or-," I stopped her and placed my lips on hers. I kissed her long and hard.
"I love you, Elena. I told you this. I don't care if you never say it back but I love you," I told her. "I spent a long time looking for you. I spent a long time wanting something like this. I made a mistake but I got a second chance with you and I am not blowing it."
"Lucas,"
"Elena," she looked into my eyes and I kissed her softly this time.
"I love you too," she whispered. We both smiled at each other and then laughed. "So is there anything I still don't know about you?"
I was still in shock at the words I had just heard. She loved me. I loved her and she loved me back. Did that mean that I accomplished my mission? I wasn't sure but I felt like it was. I could stay here with Elena forever. Well, grow old with her. I would grow old, finally.
"Lucas,"
"Sorry, I spaced out again, didn't I?"
"Kind of,"
"Well, there is one thing and I have to ask that you do not freak out,"
"Okay,"
"Just listen and then really listen to what I said,"
"Okay,"
"Elena, I was that wolf that you met in the woods," I told her.
"What?" she said softly. "That's not funny, Lucas. Don't make fun of me."
"I'm not. I am being serious," I told her.
"So, after telling you all my secrets you think it's nice to mess with me,"
"I'm not messing with you,"
"Stop being a jerk,"
"You said you would listen, Elena. I am a wolf. I was beta in my pack," I explained. "My alpha was my best friend Aidan. We-,"
"STOP!" Elena shouted. "Leave."
"Elena, please. I am not lying,"
"Please, just go," I got up and left.
I knew I shouldn't have said anything. I may have lost her for good now. What the f**k was I going to do now? I needed to prove it to her but I didn't know how exactly to do that. If I turned back into a wolf, would I stay like that forever? I wanted to stay outside her door all night but I was a human and that wouldn't look good. Elena's grandma would definitely find out. I was on my way to the hotel I had been staying at when all of a sudden, Mrs. Carver appeared.
"Hello dear," she said to me
"Good evening," I greeted.
"Why are you out here and not inside with my granddaughter?"
"Oh, we, I was. I was just heading back home," I told her.
"Not staying the night like usual," she grinned.
"Oh, no. Not today,"
"Right, how about you come inside for a bit and we have a chat," she said.
"Um, okay,"

How could he do that to me?
Did he think he was being funny?
He was making fun of me, right?
These were all questions I was asking myself since he left. I didn't want him to leave. I felt pain and loneliness in my heart since he walked through my front door. I sighed deeply and began cleaning the dining table. Sometimes doing housework helps me clear my head and analyze my thoughts.
The next morning, I woke up feeling exhausted. I didn't really get much sleep. I only thought about Lucas. I didn't know how to move forward from this. I didn't really want to talk to him but I felt like I should besides that need I feel every second to see him and be with him.
