When we’re done my parents walk in “take a seat,” Derek says and they nod. “So, tell me why you noticed the increase while my pack members in the area didn’t notice the increase?” he asks them “Because words travel among us. Not all rogues are like what you described, the bigger part isn’t. we were born outside a pack, it is very difficult to find a pack who accepts rogues, we haven’t done anything wrong. We have lived here ever since we mated and have always stayed out of trouble. There are more like us, this region has the biggest population of rogues who want a normal life. And well word travels around that we have to be more careful because wild rogues as we call them are wandering in” Brian my dad explains. “all right. I can see there are rogues like you. Usually, I try to keep my pack in line and only engage with a rogue who is causing trouble. Probably the reason why you can settle here without too much trouble” he explains and they both nod. “But you are right. With her here, I am not too comfortable about this being a coincidence.” Derek says and they both nod “You did good, contacting us” he says and smiles at them. “I need to go discuss this with my beta and gamma. I am taking her with me to keep her safe” he says and they both nod “We understand” they say and smile at me. I sigh and walk over to them and give them a big hug “I love you guys” I tell them and they cry softly “We love you” they reply. Derek smiles and we go back to the house, he walks into a room with a desk in the middle, a chair behind it. Two chairs in front of the desk and a couch in the corner. Bookshelves filled with books. The walls are a cream color, giving the room a bit of warmth. He sits down in the chair behind the desk pats his lap. “Really?” I say and he glares “Yes,” he says and I chuckle and walk over. he drags me in his lap sideways and pulls my head down for a hot kiss. There is a knock on the door and we break apart slowly “come in” Derek says while still looking at me with a smile. The two guys walk in and smile, they sit down on the chairs on the other side of the desk. “who is who?” I ask and they chuckle the blonde one says “Chad” he replies and smiles sweetly at me. “Brad” the other grunts, black hair, and I commit it to memory and nod. “You were always the guys who are with Derek in my mind,” I say and chuckle, they chuckle as well. “So, apparently our missus here has been staying the last two years with two rogues” Derek starts and they both growl “OH SHUT UP” I yell at them. And they flinch slightly and stop. Derek grins at me “So, I learned quite a bit from them. For one they are the anonymous people who send the alert. They did it to protect our missus here, so they get a reward for that so far” Derek says. “they also told me that because our pack mostly doesn’t engage with rogues who are not causing trouble this town has the biggest community of rogues who want to live a normal life without too much trouble and running for their lives constantly” he explains and they nod. “So, I need that rule more than ever. No one is to engage with rogues unless they are up to no good” he says sternly “yes, Alpha” they reply. “uhm, If I may?” I ask “Sure” Derek replies. “I’m not familiar with any of this so don’t hold it against me.” I say and they all chuckle “If the community of rogues that want to live normal lives is that big. Why don’t you take them in your pack?” I ask looking at Derek. “Well, it’s just not done. We already make an exception by not killing every rogue on sight. The council is already looking weird at us for doing that much” he says and sighs. “Well, then what about if one of a pack finds a rogue mate?” I ask “that rogue is an exception” he explains and I nod, “I think it’s wrong. Like my parents they were born out of a pack, their parents may have done something that deserved them to be rogues, shouldn’t mean their children have to pay for their crimes” I say my thoughts out loud. “I can also understand that if their children get judged because of their parents they grow a grudge against packs for doing that,” I tell them and they seem to be in thoughts “Our Luna has a point there,” Chad says and smiles at me. “She certainly does,” Derek says and Brad nods “Luna?” I ask “Alpha’s mate usually becomes the Luna of the pack. To explain it easy the alpha keeps order and the Luna gives the love” Chad explains. I am surprised that that is the hierarchy. “and what you just said showed is that you care beyond yourself” Derek adds rubbing my thigh. I smile at him “for now we need to see what this threat is about. And take care of it” Derek says and Chad and Brad both nod. “So what is the plan?” Brad asks. “We need to start patrolling the streets. Especially at night, Brad you set up a schedule. Make sure that the pack back home doesn’t get too thinned out. Chad, you will not leave our Luna’s side unless I am with her. This will be a lot but I want that to be clear. I will talk to her parents and see if I can find out more from them” Derek tells them “Yes, Alpha” they respond and Brad gets up “Chad, help him. I’ll call you if I need to leave her” he says and he nods and follows Brad outside.

“When do you let Acalia out?” Derek asks me “Usually she gets Saturday from me, sometimes if I feel like it, I let her out after school as well,” I tell him and he nods “I will join you on Saturday’s, you can’t be alone right now. Especially away from people,” he says and I frown “Why? Acalia said it would come later. Now is as good a time as any I suppose. What is a phoenix wolf?” I ask. “A phoenix wolf is from a specific bloodline. Since ancient times people wanted to mate with phoenix wolves, either willingly or forcibly. If someone mates with a phoenix wolf against their will they die for real. In any other circumstances once they are off age phoenix wolves can’t be killed, they rise if they are, like a phoenix. 25 years ago there was a mated pair of a phoenix wolf with an ordinary wolf. They bore two children, a boy, and a girl.” He says and looks at me and my eyes widen “18 years ago they were traveling and they were ambushed by rogues. We knew for a fact that the parents were killed since their bodies were found. The children were nowhere to be found. So they were either taken which meant they would die as well since they would be raised to mate with eventually. Or they died and were reborn somewhere else. I don’t think your father, was your father but your kidnapper” he tells me and my eyes widen “BASTARD” I yell and get up and start pacing the room. “A brother? I have a brother somewhere?” I ask still pacing “We don’t know. Males are more wanted to kidnap and r**e than females. The females will die before they can complete the pregnancy. But if the males are r***d and the female who does this, gets pregnant… we have yet to hear of such an existence of a phoenix wolf but.. it is a possibility” he explains. “O my God,” I say and sit down on the couch my face in my hands. Derek walks over and crouches down in front of me “He, has you. You can make a connection with him if he is still on the world babe” he says and rubs my knees “connection?” I ask. “yes, we wolfs can mind-link. When I officially initiate you in the pack you will be able to mind-link with the pack and me. Family always has that connection no matter what pack they are in. The only problem is the distance” he explains and I nod “We have to find him” I say and tears fall he nods and wraps me in his arms “We will” he whispers. “do you know if I were to die. Am I reborn as a baby or just like me, do I remember everything or?” I ask him. “that is not known. There has never been a recorded reborn from phoenix wolves except for one. The only thing he wrote is that it happens.” He explains and I sigh. “yay, something to look forward to” I say and chuckle “better prevent it from happening” he says and smiles. I nod “Okay, how do I access that link?” I ask him. “Just think, make an image of him in your mind and think what you want to say, it is a lot like talking to your wolf” he explains. I take a deep breath ‘I’ll help’ Acalia pipes in. I imagine a man with red hair and orange eyes like me, basically a male version of myself ‘brother?’ I think and keep thinking it over and over. I sigh “nothing,” I tell him and he nods. “come on. I need to talk to your parents a bit more.” he says and drags me up from the couch. he wraps his arm around my shoulders and we walk to the car and make our way to my house. We walk inside and I hug my parents “I’ll be upstairs” I say and they nod. I go upstairs and concentrate again and try to link him.

A few weeks later I still hadn’t been able to contact him and it frustrates me to no end. Derek keeps reassuring me, telling me he could be on the other side of the planet. That doesn’t help, not in the slightest. Today is a failure yet again and I run into the garden slamming the door. I shift and run off into the forest, needing to get this frustration out. “DAMNIT NOT ON YOUR OWN!” I hear Derek yell after me. I don’t care at the moment, soon I hear his paws behind me but I just keep running. Suddenly I don’t hear the paws but growling and snapping, I stop in my tracks to look behind me but I get tackled to the side, Acalia pushes me to the back and takes over and kills the rogue who attacked me. She runs towards the growling and sees Derek fighting off two of them, she darts forward and kills one of them and Derek finishes off the other one. She runs back to the house Derek on our heels, suddenly we are surrounded by 10 wolves and we stop in our tracks, Derek and Acalia start growling at them, and then it is an all-out war. 7 wolves jump me while the other three distract Derek. Acalia brings two of them down and then she runs, the wolves chase us one of them tackles us to the ground and a sudden blur tackles the wolf off of me. Acalia doesn’t hesitate and starts attacking the others, within no time the wolves are all dead and Acalia runs. A heartbreaking howl sounds in the air and Acalia slows down and then turns around. The wolf who is standing there is a white wolf with a red glow around him, but he is also matted with blood, it is dripping down his stomach “Ana” he asks stunned in my head “Brother?” I ask and take a step forward Acalia receding into my mind. He steps forward and stumbles, he falls on his side breathing heavily. I run over to him and start licking his wounds ‘come on! Don’t leave me now!’ I yell in his head. Suddenly I hear a growl behind me and I turn around canines bared but it’s Derek and he is growling at the wolf on the ground. I walk over and nuzzle his neck, he returns the favor and then I walk back. pushing my nose in his neck trying to wake him up. His body starts convulsing and a human appears, I lick his face ‘he has red hair like I thought I smile to myself. I look at his stomach and there is a gaping wound, Derek is still growling behind me. I turn back “KNOCK IT OFF” I yell at him and he whimpers “it’s my brother asshole,” I tell him and he whimpers again. I push my hands to his stomach “Come on. Come on. Don’t die on my now!” I yell at him. My hands start to glow bright red. The blood creepily is pushed back into him and the wound starts mending together. “What the f**k” I say and look at my hands. My brother gasps and opens his eyes the brightest golden color looks at me, and he smiles. “Finally” he whispers and closes his eyes again. Chad and Brad come bursting through in their wolf forms and start growling “KNOCK IT OFF NOW BEFORE I KILL YOU” I yell at them with a growl. Derek walks over and nuzzles my neck. He looks at Chad and Brad and they turn shortly after that “we’ll take him back. sorry we didn’t know” they say and I nod. I turn into my wolf and stay at his side. Derek walks next to me keeping an eye on the surroundings. We reach the packhouse where I have been staying for the last few weeks. They bring him to a room and I follow. I turn and sit down next to him. Not even noticing I am naked for the first time. Not long after “Put this on please” Derek says and holds out a robe for me. I grab it and blush “Sorry,” I say and put it on. He smiles “It’s okay. But just before I start killing people for looking at you” he grins at me and I shake my head. I hold my brother's hand “what was that earlier?” I ask Derek “I don’t know. But I think it saved his life, so be thankful,” he says and kisses the top of my head. “I need to increase security. Stay here all right?” he asks me “yes, I am not leaving his side,” I tell him and he nods. “Yeah? Is the overbearing mate finally gone?” my brother suddenly says while looking at me “I HEARD THAT” Derek yells from the hallway and my brother and I laugh. He wraps his arms around me “God, you have grown up so beautifully.” He says while patting me all over and looking at me. I chuckle “I don’t even know your name,” I say sheepishly, he smiles sweetly at me “Arun,” he says “Arun” I repeat and smile “I’ve been trying to reach you for weeks,” I say and frown “I know, that’s when I escaped. I tried getting rid of the rogues but they just kept coming,” he says and sighs “I couldn’t bring you in more danger then you were already in,” he says and smiles sheepishly. I chuckle “Can’t believe I have a brother,” I say amazed and he frowns “you probably remember little from before we were taken,” he says “I remember exactly nothing. I have thought my whole life that my kidnapper was my father. I reconnected with Derek a while ago and he explained to me about being a phoenix wolf. And what the story was about the last mated pair of a phoenix wolf. That’s how I learned about you, I’ve been trying to reach you ever since” I explain and he nods sadly “Sorry, I hoped you would remember our parents. The hope was small but it was there. s**t, my baby sister mated and all” he groans and pulls me against his chest. Hugging me “I missed you baby sister” he whispers. “I’m not mated yet,” I tell him “Why not?” he asks. “I never knew what I was until I turned and my wolf explained,” I tell him and he growls “bastards”. “Bastard without the S,” I tell him and give him a weak smile. He lets out a sigh “please, you can take your time with telling me, but please tell me he didn’t r**e you?” he asks and I shake my head “No, he hasn’t,” I say and smile he breathes out a sigh “I was never r***d either. So I’m not going anywhere for a while” he says and smiles. I breathe out a relieved sigh and cuddle into my brother. This is a bit awkward because he is naked but oh well. Soon I feel relaxed and start to fall asleep.

I wake up from voices “Give me my f*****g mate back douchebag” I hear Derek growl “Nope, it’s my sister after all. I’ve been waiting for f*****g 18 years for her to reach out so I could pinpoint a location! I finally found her” he hisses back. “At least put some f*****g clothes on!” Derek yells. I groan “Shut up,” I tell them and it falls silent and then they start laughing. I rub my eyes and sit up. I hold my hand out and Derek holds it I pull him and he falls on the bed next to me “You’re going to have to share me with my brother d**k” I say and then turn back to my brother and push him out of bed “put some goddamn clothes on” I say and lay down my head on Derek’s chest, which is vibrating with laughter. “Ahh, I remember when we bathed naked together” I hear my brother behind me, he gets up and walks away for a bit, and then I hear him come back and lay down behind me. “I have no idea how old you are by the way,” I tell my brother “I’m four years older,” he says and grabs my hand squeezing it. “ugh I’m dead tired,” I say and yawn. They chuckle “Sleep then,” they say in unison and I let the tingles I feel from Derek pull me to sleep. This time I wake up a little refreshed. Derek is still sleeping soundly with his arm tight around me. And I smile, I turn around and look at my brother, Derek spoons me right away with his arm tight around me and I smile. My brother smiles as well “So, what the hell did I do to you?” I ask him and he chuckles “We have a bit of extra than the normal wolf. We have magic. The color of our eyes dictates how much. The closer to a red color the more power we hold.” He says and I let it sink in my eyes widen “Wait, I have orange” I say and he nods “Our parents talked about your potential a lot. Trained it in me to protect you because you would be wanted even more because of that. Basically, I am just underneath you in power. There is red, even though that hasn’t been seen anymore since the first phoenix wolves, then there is orange, then there is gold, yellow, brown, and green. Green is a normal wolf” he explains and I nod “so I am in even more danger than I thought” I say sadly “I am afraid so. We both are” he says and caresses my cheek “I never asked for this. Can’t it be normal for once” I say and sigh “I am sorry, I wish you would have remembered some of your young life to keep you going. I had that and that kept me going. To find you, I saw them take you away while I was taken by a coven of witches” he sighs. I squeeze his hand “If you want to talk about it you can you know?” I say to him and he smiles “I know, but later. With a lot of booze perhaps” he says and chuckles. I chuckle as well and then smile at my brother. “I am going to let you and your mate have some private time before he bites my head off,” he says and chuckles. “All right. Don’t go too far” I tell him “I won’t. going to watch some television I think” he says and gets up. “All right,” I say and he walks out of the room.
