CHAPTER 24
It was night when Veronica was awakened by the noise of the birds settling in the nearby trees, making their racket and indicating that it was time for them to retire. After a few minutes enjoying that singing she got up from the hammock and went to take a shower and get rid of the heat and tiredness. She was not used to doing nothing all day and her body seemed to be surrendering to this sedentary lifestyle, which was not good.
When she got to the kitchen the lady was making food and welcomed her with a smile, while offering her some goodies she had brought. Gratefully, Veronica took a slice of a cake and ate it. She was hungry because she had not eaten well during the employee"s absence.
