Chapter 3:

Merlia POV:

After the guy left to change all I could do was think about Carson and his beautiful blue eyes. When he looked at me I felt such warmth like I could trust him with anything and he would make sure to keep me safe no matter what needed to be done. As I sit there daydreaming about him I don’t realize my brother is walking up to me. He kneels down and waves a hand in front of my face “earth to Leia hello anyone home” he chuckles I shake my head smiling “sorry Josh I just….” “You saw a cute boy didn’t you? '' he interrupts me. I blush and smile “his name was Carson” I look up at him smiling. He chuckles rolling his eyes “Leia didn’t you learn from Kyle” he asks, just a quick background Kyle is an ex from college. We met when I was working at my uncle's studio for the first time. He was picking up his little sister when we met and started talking. We had a lot in common so we decided to grab some dinner together and honestly it went off from there. We ended up dating for 3 years before he started getting really possessive. One day I was out with Josh, Jeremy and Michael which he knows all of them plus Jeremy and Michael are dating and Josh is my brother so no one would try anything towards me. Anyways we went out to study and get some coffee when out of the blue Kyle called me in a rage saying that I was such a w***e and I was out cheating on him and if I didn’t get home he was going to come find me so I went home to home.

Once I got home he slammed me against the wall causing my vision to go spotty and he knocked the wind out of me. He was so angry at nothing I tried to tell him over and over I wasn’t cheating but he never believed me. This went on for months I couldn’t leave the house without his permission and s*x with him was terrible cause even when I was so exhausted from school and work he would make me have s*x with him…..it became more r*pe then s*x and I hated it I felt disgusting. Afterwards I would cry myself to sleep. I finally decided to leave him after he hit me for the last time leaving me with a black eye and bruised ribs. I went back to stay at my uncle’s place but Kyle kept coming around and stalking me and threatening to kill me if he ever saw me again. But that was in the past and it’s been 2 years since he moved from the city and I was honestly happier.

I look up at Josh and smile softly “Josh Kyle happened in the past I know it was a scary experience for us both but we have to move on and I have to get over my fear in dating men again, it’s time for me to become a new woman” I say confidently he smiles and hugs me tight I hug his neck smiling happily. We pulled away after hearing what seemed like a growl. I turned and locked eyes with Carson who was glaring at Josh and Devin was holding him back whispering something to him. He looks away and then starts working out “ooook” Josh says “that was weird why don’t we go get something to eat then we can head home” I nod and smile “sounds like a good plan” I grin happily and grab my bag we change then head out.

A few weeks pass and I see Carson everywhere. The gym, the store, even my favorite cafe right by the studio. At first it felt like he was stalking me but I didn’t mind there was such a pull to him I didn’t fight it. We began to talk more. We even exchanged phone numbers so we can talk when we are apart. Carson agreed to come to my opening show if I agreed to let him take me out afterwards to celebrate the big show. I smile and nod “deal.” I hold my hand out smiling. He laughs softly and takes it. As soon as our hands touched I felt a spark shoot down my spine making me blush. He kisses the top of my hand and looks up at me “until then Leia” he whispers and turns to head back to his home.

The next day we couldn’t meet up as I was practicing all day for our show coming up so he decided to come by the studio and watch me practice and bring me coffee. It was like I knew he walked in cause before the doors opened I turned and waited for him to round the corner. A huge smile swept across my face and I walked over and hugged him “hello beautiful” he smiles “what are you doing here?” I say and look at the coffee in his hand. “That better be for me” I tease he chuckles and kisses my cheek “it is for you beautiful” he hands me the coffee I take it smiling and blushing “Carson you didn’t have to do that” he grins “of course I did you’re my girl I gotta always make sure you are happy and smiling” I roll my eyes and smile happily “thanks” I stand on my toes and kiss his cheek.

He would sit and watch me practice then offer to drive me home but only if I agreed to dinner I shake my head smiling “I look disgusting Carson you sure you don’t wanna wait for me to shower and change” he shakes his head holding my hands in his “no I want to go now if that’s ok with you” he looks down at me with a small smile I sigh and smile “ok fine we can have dinner” he cheers “yes!” I laugh and walk with him to his car.

Carson POV:

I knew Leia would be practicing all day today for her upcoming show but I also knew I couldn’t go a second without seeing her. It was heard enough that I had to go home without her but I couldn't stand to go a whole day without seeing her beautiful smile so I surprised her at the studio with her favorite coffee. Iced Caramel Macchiato with an extra shot of espresso to keep up the energy. Walking into the studio I could feel Xylais calm as he felt our mate’s presence. I am guessing she sensed us because as soon as I rounded the corner she came walking over to me, her smile making the room brighter. I hug her tightly, smiling. “Hello beautiful” I whisper and then hand her the coffee as we talk. I told her I will be staying during her practice so we could get some time together. I have to admit watching other men touch my beautiful mate made my blood boil no one should be touching her except me but I had to keep calm I couldn’t do anything to make anyone aware of what I am so I sit in the back gritting my teeth as her dance partner puts his hand on her waist as they both danced together.

Afterwards I would wait for her by the car while she changed out of her dance clothes. I get anxious waiting for her but once she comes out everything in me calms as the peace of knowing she's ok fills me.. I walk over and hug her burying my face into her hair and smelling her beautiful scent. I can hear her giggle as I do this “Carson you act like you missed me” I pull back and smile “I did my little dove I missed you so much” she shakes her head smiling “ok well can we go I am starving” she looks up at me smiling her beautiful smile “of course let's go” I open her door for her then walk to the driver side and climb in. She puts her hand in mine as I drive and it keeps me sane. I know I sound crazy but any minute I am not with her drives me insane so every moment I am with her I want to feel her constantly to know this really isn’t a dream I have found my mate, my Dove.
