Nora stood in front of the mirror, admiring her reflection. From a simple girl with modest clothes, she had transformed into a completely different image. The red dress hugged her curves, accentuating her alluring figure, and her glittering high heels added a touch of elegance. The flawless makeup, with bold red lips and sharp eyeliner, highlighted her sensual beauty. All these elements created a new Nora, one who was confident and captivating.
The reflection in the mirror made Nora feel satisfied. She touched up her lipstick and smiled at the girl in the mirror.
Nora called a taxi and headed to the Anderson Corporation headquarters, where Elias’s father worked.
As soon as she entered the building, she immediately drew the attention of many employees. Some even gaped at her stunning appearance.
“Hello, may I ask what brings you here?” The receptionist, sizing up Nora, was aware that someone like her was big trouble or an important partner for the company.
“Go back to your work. I’ll handle my business myself.” Nora looked at the receptionist with icy eyes.
Then, standing in the middle of the company lobby, Nora shouted, “Etham Taylor! Come out here immediately!”
“If you and that girl keep hiding in there, don’t blame me for not being polite!” Nora shouted as she threw scandalous photos of the couple all over the place. The pictures scattered across the floor.
People pieced together what was happening. The beautiful woman before them confronted a cheater!
Everyone in the lobby stopped and stared at the girl, causing a scene. Whispers and murmurs spread.
A security guard approached Nora, trying to calm her down. “Ma’am, please calm down. This is a workplace; you can’t cause such a disturbance.”
But Nora ignored the reminder. She continued to shout, “You bastard, Etham! I sacrificed so much for you, and this is how you treat me!”
“Miss, whatever the issue is, we can discuss it calmly. This is a...,” an Anderson employee tried to intervene.
But before he could finish, she yelled, “Shut up! What do you know? Could you simply let it go if it were you?”
Pausing for a moment, she continued, “I dropped out of school to take care of him, to cook for him. Shopping for dresses was a mystery to me for a long time. And how does he repay me? He put a pair of horns on my head! If it were you, could you tolerate that?” Nora played her role convincingly.
The Anderson employees looked at each other, the evidence of the affair still scattered on the ground, making it difficult to persuade her otherwise.
“If that bastard Etham and his mistress don’t kneel and apologize to me, I won’t leave!”
The surrounding whispers grew louder, with some saying the girl didn’t understand, and others feeling sorry for her. Nora had everyone’s attention, curious about the upcoming events.
“What’s going on here?” A deep male voice sounded.
A well-dressed man approached Nora.
Finally, the person she wanted to meet had arrived. The owner of Anderson Corporation, Dominic Anderson.
Dominic frowned slightly upon seeing Nora’s face; she was the girl he had bumped into earlier. But he quickly regained his professional demeanor.
“Hello, I’m Dominic Anderson, CEO of Anderson Corporation. How can I assist you?”
Nora, having achieved her goal, ceased her commotion. She spoke with a mocking tone, “You’re the CEO, right? Since when did your company hire such unethical employees?”
“Please calm down and explain what happened. If our employee is at fault, I will take responsibility.”
“Etham and Charlotte from your sales department are having an affair. I am the girlfriend and fiancée of that scoundrel!” Nora instantly invented two names and a story.
“Is that true?” Dominic frowned slightly.
“Why would I lie to you!” She pointed to the scattered photos on the floor, showing a couple entering a hotel. Although the faces weren’t very clear, she insisted, “This is Etham! He’s my boyfriend, you can tell by just looking!”
Dominic nodded slightly, took out his phone, and called the HR department. The HR department replied to Dominic’s request in approximately two minutes.
“CEO, I’ve checked our employee list. There are no employees named Etham or Charlotte.”
“I see,” Dominic said, hanging up and turning to Nora. “Miss, I’m sorry, but we don’t have anyone by those names in our company.”
Although Nora had expected this result, she feigned surprise. “What? How can that be?”
“Our staff checked thoroughly, and there are no such names in our company.”
“Really?” Nora looked at him with skeptical eyes.
“I have no reason to deceive you,” Dominic stated firmly.
“Miss, the CEO has no reason to lie to you. You might have mistaken the place,” Dominic’s secretary chimed in.
Nora shrugged nonchalantly, with no embarrassment. “Oh, maybe I was mistaken. Sorry about that.”
Nora sighed and continued, “In fact, Etham never told me where he worked. He claimed I lacked the understanding or necessity to be informed about his work. But I once saw documents about a project from your company on his desk, so I thought he worked here.”
“Miss, losing a beautiful girl like you is his loss. As for the documents related to our company, I think he works for one of Anderson’s partner companies.” Dominic’s secretary, Felix, explained.
“Really? Thank you!” Nora knew Felix’s words were just to placate her. They wouldn’t investigate the partners to find out who her boyfriend was. Felix just wanted her to leave peacefully.
“You are very kind. I misunderstood your company. I’m truly sorry.”
With that, Nora grabbed her bag and turned to leave.
“Would you be interested in having tea in my office?”
It was Dominic.
