Georgiana returned to work in mid-January, flying out to Melbourne for the Australian Open tennis. In her time off she had learned how to put on a brave face and fool everyone around her into believing she was fine. Underneath the surface, she was still heartbroken.
Reunited with John McEnroe, she threw herself into presenting the coverage to the public back home and kept herself busy away from the stadium. She visited old friends from school who had emigrated, and explored the city’s shops and markets in her down time. In the evenings, she dined with the BBC team or had room service.
