Chapter 4

1999 Words
Arthur’s growling snaps me out of it and Alistair looks at him, he reaches out his hand and Arthur shakes it. I see you have found your mate.  No, he is a family friend. As I motion them to sit, I see Arthur fuming after I said that. What is up with him? I ask what the urgency is. “We are here to protect you, my Lady.” From what? Arthur scoffs and I just stare at him. “A man will attend your ball, and he will use dark magic on you. We are here to protect you, from the threats within and outside of this pack. He makes eye contact with Arthur. Alistair then says, Sir Anthony may I have your permission to be Lady Blackharts date for the evening. Arthur raises his voice, and my father is in shocked by his reaction. Arthur, Alex said; I think you should retire for the night. Again, he insists that he stays. I look at Alistair, “Alistair has been alive for quite some time and has experience in these matters, I trust the Moon Goddess and him”. His scent hits me again and feel a wetness pool between my legs. I wince again from another headache and Alistair stands up, walks over and kneels in front of me. Did the headaches start at midnight? Y-yes, how did you know? I know you better then you think he chuckles putting his hand behind his head, making me giggle. Everyone is nods in agreement. Arthurs eyes are black from rage, I look at Bella who is just staring at Arthur, and she looks at me. My Lady, may I speak to you in private? I nod, and we leave the library, what can I do for you Bella? The man who is he? Oh, he is a family friend; I smile nervously. I know it is not my place, but you must know. Alistair is your destined mate. He has been living since the first Lady and they were destined mates, but their bond was rejected, and she was forced to take a mate from her own kind. I look at her in shock.  What do you mean? Well, at the time there was a war between us so it would not have been allowed. “May I ask you something?” Please, I say as we continue to stroll through the hallway. Do you feel a bond with Arthur, and is he being clingy? I do not feel a bond with him, he is kind of been obsessive since he got here. H-how did you know, Bella? I am a witch my dear, I know things. So, I must ask - did you feel anything when Alistair grabbed your hand? I can tell my face turns red, and I said maybe. My Lady this is especially important, you are the reincarnation of the first Lady, and therefore Alistair is your destined mate. I must ask if you may have a moment of privacy with him, speak to him and know for yourself. Your mate bond will protect you; you goddess and my god have told me so. Very well, Bella. I will speak to Alistair in private. I see her sigh in relief, and I ask: Why do you care so much? Alistair raised me with my coven, he protected us, and did everything needed that we could not do. He has told me the stories and I see his heart breaks every time he mentions how he could not save your three prior lives. I look at her as my mouth drops, he has been trying to save me in my past lives. Yes, my Lady. He feels the bond, it has never faded for him; unfortunately. I have not had any signs that tell me he is my destined mate. Then I beg of you to speak to him, my Lady. Very well, Bella. Let us get back to the library. As we approached, I can tell my parents, Alex, Cassandra and Arthur have been worried but have been keeping Alistair company. May I speak to you in private, Alistair? He stands up smiling and bows again, my Lady may I request we take walk through the garden? I smile, I think that would be a wonderful idea. I hear Arthur growling and Alex is talking to him. Alistair goes to go to open the door for me and I thank him, as I leave. He turns and bows as he exits the room and I hear my mother saying, “Oh, I like him.” (Alistairs P.O.V) It has been so long my love; I say staring at a picture of the first Lady.… Soon your reincarnation will come of age and I will do everything in power to protect her, you… I head outside and look up the moon and pray. My Lady will only be eighteen, please Moon Goddess she is so young, I feel tears in my eyes. Please let me protect her. I get a headache; a vision is coming… I hear the sweetest voice “Alistair, why does this feel so familiar?” I look down and it is my Lady, looking confused and yet still managing a smile at the same time. I have her pinned against a wall and our lips are so close, but I step back. Suddenly the vision is gone, and I hear Bella. Ali! She is of age; we must go now; I will begin packing. I look up at the moon and thank the goddess, I will do what I must even if that means letting her go. I walk into the coven and Bella is almost finished packing, she waste no time. The coven is saying their goodbyes and cast a spell of protection on us. I thank them for everything they have done for me and hug each one of them, and they all wish us the best. So, Bella where are we headed? She looks up and smiles – hold tight! What feels like eternity from teleporting we arrive at our destination, the driveway to the Blackhart Pack house. I feel her, she is here I said smiling. We begin walking and I see a garden and a field of flowers, she stills loves the same things. As we move closer, I feel this pit in my stomach. Which is strange – Vampires do not normally have these feelings then again; I have never been a normal vampire. I knock on the door and it took a minute but a middle-aged man answers and his eyes go wide. I assume you know why we are here. He nods and lets us enter, Lilith has had guest rooms made up for you two and we will have a meeting in the morning. I look at him and say the meeting needs to take place now. We do not have a choice, please go fetch the Lady… I see him about to protest but Bella explains the Moon Goddess has summoned us for this reason and I can tell he mind-links someone. He guides us into the Library, an impressive collection sir. “I am Anthony former Alpha of the Blackhart pack, this library was designed by Lilith when she was young”. Ah, some things never change, and I chuckle, pleasure to meet you sir, and I am Alistair. I see him turn white and he motions us to sit. So, Alistair you have been around since the first Lady? I have and look him straight in the eye. I am sorry for your loss, and he hangs his head low. Then some people start coming into the library one by one, and lastly, she entered, and I stood up so fast. My gods and goddesses her scent has never changed, she still smells of a field of wildflowers. I see a man behind her, and he stares at me, but it is of no use. My Lady has my attention. I begin moving towards her and smile – it has been a long time my Lady and I kiss her hand. The man standing beside her growls as his eyes turn black but his does not phase me. I extend my hand and he shakes it reluctantly. I see you have found your mate.  “No, he is just a family friend”.  Internally I feel relieved, but I am also worried about her safety. We begin to talk as to why we are here in the first place. I must say her family is very attentive and caring, they seem to be understanding. Arthur however has not taken his eyes off of me. Bella takes Lilith so they may speak in private. So, Alistair please tell me about yourself? I look and it is Arthur, he is studying me. I smile and speak, I have been alive since the first Lady, and I have been tasked by the Moon Goddess to protect her at whatever costs. It breaks my heart to say the past four I could not save but the Moon Goddess works in mysterious ways… Arthur scoffs and Alexander looks at him like he is never seen this side of him. He pulls him to the side and says something, but Lilith and Bella are back. I hear her voice, Alistair may I speak to you in private? I stand and bow being in her presence is a blessing.  My Lady may I request we take walk through the garden? She smiles at me and says, “I think that would be a wonderful idea.” I hear Arthur growling and Alex is trying to calm him down. I mind link Bella and tell her to keep an eye on him. I go to open the door for her, and she thanks me so sweetly. I bow to the rest as I exit and close the door. The Lady guides me through the house and out the door to the garden. The moon is full, and it is Friday the thirteenth, her eighteenth birthday. I see she stopped walking and kneels in what looks like pain. I rush to her side and her eyes are white. I hold onto her until it passes, and when it finally does, I help her stand. It is your wolf? “Y-yes, it’s painful when we communicate. Gaia says it will not always be this painful.” I smile at her, even her wolf carries the same name. I get this odd sensation that my heart begins to race, her eyes are starting to turn black as she inhales my scent. I can not help but do the same, while mine turn red. I pull her in close and rub my lips against hers. She smells like wildflowers. I cannot resist her, and I pin her against the wall when our skinned touch it felt like lightning storm between us. I take a step back and apologize and our eyes go back to normal. She looks at me and says she never felt this way about anyone and when I mentioned Arthur, she said he gives her the creeps and that he is just a family friend. My Lady, I hope I am not overstaying my welcome by being your date for your birthday. I will confess, I do not trust Arthur, nor any other man with you. “Not at all, Ali.” I see Bella wasted no time telling you about our history, I furrow my brows. She laughs as we keep walking and finally, we are at a field. My Lady, may I have this dance? She looks stunned and accepts, we start dancing under the night sky. “Alistair, may I ask you a question?” Yes, my dear. “If I was your destined mate why did you not come for me?”
