King Magnus walks down a long hallway, and finds the alpha’s office, and finds the door closed. He doesn’t bother knocking and walks inside and closes the door. Alpha James looks up, and with an expression of rage at whoever just barged into his office, the gall. He'd have them locked in the cells. He recognizes the king, and rises to bow to him, and then sits back down and offers a chair to the king.
“Was that rage for me?” He asks smirking.
“No, Sire. Just at whoever was disrespecting their alpha.”
“I am the King of the Alphas. I come and go as I please. I certainly don’t need a dishonest mid-ranking alpha to give me his consent, now do I?” Magnus asks.
“Of course, King Magnus. I apologize. Why do you call me dishonest?” He asks.
“There is the matter that you lied about your oldest daughter. You told me to my face that she was killed along with her mother. Why was her death not registered, you know the law.” The king demands.
Alpha James sits his heart racing. “It must have slipped my mind.” He replies nervously.
“Are you still going for the lie? I was told, that you and I quote ‘sent that mutt away’. To hide her from the party. I also know she didn’t die that day. And I also know, you set it up. Rogues didn’t murder Cassandra Blackheart. You had your warriors do it while she was on a run alone. Then, you married that sad excuse for a Luna, and produced that spoiled brat.” The King says, and then lets out a low growl as he tries to hold Ivar back.
“Your Highness, I don’t understand why you are so concerned with this girl. She’s just a wolfless nothing.” He replies.
King Magnus rises quickly, and grabs Alpha James by the throat and easily lifts him and drags him over the desk. He pushes him against the nearest wall and slams his head into the wood, a loud thud was heard. “You will not refer to anyone in MY kingdom like that! You’ll be lucky I don't execute you and divide your pack. Maybe give these lands to a more deserving wolf.” He shouts before allowing Ivar forward enough to turn his eyes black and elongate his snout and growls before returning to his normal appearance again.
“I apologize, King Magnus. I did lie. She is alive, and I did send her away. She is an embarrassment, and a constant reminder of her mother.” The alpha stammers.
“You don’t deny the murder? Why did you murder your fated mate?”
“I don’t deny it. What can you do 17 years later? She was just a she-wolf. Nothing like the class of Madeline, and Miranda is beautiful and everything Calista isn’t.” He says smugly.
“After holding you to the wall by the throat and that didn’t knock any sense into you. You just hold on see what I can do.” The king says smirking and then mind linking one of his guards.
A moment later, a tall gruff looking warrior walks into the office. He bows his head for a moment, “Yes, My King.” He says looking over at Alpha James.
“This trash is to be arrested, I want him locked in a cell. He’s charged with murder, child abuse, and probably more. I need to find the other daughter. Take him away, and put a guard on him around the clock. He’s never to be alone. Later He will be put in the courtyard and flogged for daring to lie to The Alpha King.” Magnus commands.
“Yes, Sire. We don’t like child abusers do we?” He says putting silver coated handcuffs on the disgraced alpha. The metal burning James’ wrists.
“Make sure to march him through the packhouse and through the grounds to the cells.”
The warrior, Cedric smiles. “Yes, Sire.” He says before grabbing the Alpha’s arm and pulling him along.
King Magnus sits behind the desk, and looks at some papers laying on the desk, and is interrupted from his thoughts by a knock on the open door.
“Excuse me, King Magnus. I was bringing Alpha his lunch.” Sarah says holding a tray with steaming food on it and lowering her head.
“Come in, and set that over there on the table, and come sit in this chair here.” He says.
Sarah obeys him, and thinks nervously about what she could have done to get the King’s attention.
“You know my name, I am sorry I don’t know yours.” He says looking at her.
“I am Sarah, an Omega. I run the kitchen. If your food was unsatisfactory, please let me know. We’ll fix it.” She says nervously.
“I am happy to meet you, Sarah. You aren’t in trouble, and your alpha will not be returning to his position. He’s been arrested. I am wondering, if you might know of another daughter of James Blackheart?”
“Alpha will punish me if I say. But, I can’t lie to the King. Yes, he has an older one. He beats her, lets the pack members abuse her. He made her an Omega at 6 years old, and has treated her as an outcast and servant. Her name is Calista, and she is my friend.” Sarah says quickly.
“Thank you, I appreciate your honesty. Do you know where I can find her? I need to see that she is alright.”
Sarah, smoothes her skirt, and nervously bites her lip. “Yes, there is a cabin on the edge of our northern border. Alpha sent her away so nobody at the party would see her. I told her about the cabin, and sent her some food.”
“What of Madeline and Miranda? How do they treat her?” Magnus asks as he sips the coffee from the tray.
Sarah sighs, “They treat her badly as well. Ever since he they marked each, Calista was cast away. Miranda is a spoiled brat, she thinks she's a princess, and has bullied and taunted Calista since she’s able.”
“How old was Calista when her mother was killed?” King Magnus asks.
“She was just under a year old from what I am told. Alpha brought her to the omega house when she was 6. My mother cared for her, and we became friends.” Sarah says, and then looks down remembering losing her mother to sickness.
“Thank you, Sarah. You may go back to what you were doing.” He says dismissing her.
Sarah gets back to the kitchen, and sees lunch is being cleaned up.
“What took you so long? Was the Alpha angry or something?” Katie, a young dishwasher asks.
“I’ll tell you about it after we're done here. Too many ears in the packhouse.” Sarah replies and starts to clean counters while Katie finishes washing dishes.
Sarah looks around the kitchen seeing everything cleaned, and things are put away “Break time. Be back in an hour to start prepping for dinner.” Sarah announces to her kitchen crew consisting of a chef, and assistant. Then the young girls who clean, set the tables, and prep for meals.
Katie follows Sarah, and they walk to the garden and sit on a bench. “So, what happened?” Katie asks, her eyes full of curiosity.
Sarah exhales, and then looks at the young girl of 12. “The alpha has been arrested! It has something to do with Calista and how she's been treated. King Magnus is taking over, it was him who kept me.” Sarah says she sees the shocked look on Katie’s face. “You can’t breathe a word of this to anyone. Let’s not anger the king.
Katie looks at her, and smiles slightly. “That had to be scary. I won’t say anything. What about Luna Madeline and Miranda?” She asks.
Sarah looks out over the garden, and then looks at Katie. With soft eyes, “I don’t know. You best stay clear of them.”
In The Alpha’s office, King Magnus sits behind the desk, and looks out at four warriors. “The soon to be former Luna needs to be brought to the cells. Arrest her, and her daughter, Miranda. Preferably before dinner. I want them to be present when James is flogged. It's to be with a whip tipped with wolfsbane. Afterwards, I have a little surprise for him and his pack. I've been reading through the books. They are nearly broke, but live like a wealthy pack.” He says.
“What will happen to the pack? The beta can’t be left in charge, he is horrible.” Cedric asks.
“I have thought about that, and I am thinking of making this my second palace and they will all become part of the royal pack.” Magnus replies.
“The ranked wolves, Sire?” His beta, Finn asks.
“They will join our ranks after they are tested. The beta and gamma will be demoted to Omegas as will their families. They all had a hand in tormenting this girl, Calista. There are laws against the abuses this poor girl suffered.”
“Where is the girl?” Cedric asks.
“James sent her away into the woods. I am told by the kitchen manager that she was told about a cabin on the northern border. Start there. Do not approach her, watch her for a few hours and go to the kitchen and get her some food and supplies. Leave it where she will see it. Bring Finn with you, you two concentrate on finding Madeline and Miranda.
