Juniper POV
"Swim! You have to swim!"
I heard a voice in my head. It was faint but just loud enough to be heard over the rushing of the water. My body hurt so bad and it was excruciating to even try to move my arms against the water. My eyes were swollen so it was hard to even see as it was. I kept bobbing up over the waves of the water and gasping for air when I could, twisting my body to try and swim.
"Come on, Juniper! You must swim!"
I kicked my feet as best as I could, trying to get myself in a more diagonal line with the bank. Suddenly, my feet hit something hard. It was a rock! I was closer to the bank than I had thought I was. I kicked against the rocks until I was able to painfully crawl my way out of the water. Once I was mostly on the bank, I collapsed into the dirt. I rolled over on my back and looked up at the clear sky. The water was still rushing over my legs but I couldn't move any further.
I laid there quietly, Goddess knows how long. Moving any part of my body caused me great pain and my eyes were so swollen, it was a struggle to keep them open. I must have fallen asleep from my exhaustion and pain, but I woke up to hearing something walking around in the tall grass behind me.
"Help..." I whispered, hoping who ever it was would hear me. The rustling of the grass got louder as whatever it was got closer. I opened my eyes as I was met with a pair of bright green ones, staring right back into me. Jace. I let out a loud sigh as he sniffed me and shifted from his wolf form back to human.
"Goddess, Juni. What happened?" He whispered as he knelt down next to me. "She's over here!" He yelled. "Hang in there Juni. Help is coming." He spoke softly as he moved my wet hair from my face. Jace was one of my best friends. He had stood up for me from most of the bullies I had during middle school. The only ones he couldn't help against was Hannah.
I could hear the foot steps of wolves and humans running our way, along with the sound of a vehicle. I sighed and winced in pain as I tried to move to look at who was coming. I was met with a hand gently on my chest and the gentle shushing of Jace that had me relaxing back on the dirt.
"Oh, Goddess!" I heard Traci cry out as she approached me. She was another one of my best friends. She was always there for me when we were younger and Hannah's possè would try and start their bullying in grade school. She was always there to help me out afterwards as well. I could always trust her to be at my side, one end of the mess or the other.
Just as soon as Traci showed up, many more did as well. Jace lifted me from the bank of the river and gently placed me in the vehicle. He and Traci crawled in with me and told the driver to get us to the pack hospital quickly. Each bump of the makeshift road hurt, and Jace tried to hold onto me, to keep me from moving. We weren't even half way back to the pack lands before I had passed out again.

I woke up, looking at a set of bright white lights and winced slightly. The light was offensive to my eyes considering I could hardly see through them as was. I could hear voices off to the side talking in a hushed tone, but loud enough that I could hear what was going on.
"She needs to have surgery?" I could tell this was Alpha Atticus's voice. His was a deep baritone. He sounded worried.
"Who ever did this to her pulled a tendon in her shoulder. If it's not repaired, she will lose range of motion. That will cause issues when she obtains her wolf." The other voice said. This I assumed, by what was said, was the doctor.
"Her wolf will be lame. Do what you need to do but let me know once she is awake. I want to know some answers to..." His voice trailed off as he had turned back to look at me and saw me awake. "Juniper..."
"How are you feeling, Juniper?" The doctor asked.
"Everything hurts." I said in a hushed voice. "You said I have to have surgery."
"I expect everything to hurt, dear. You basically have been to hell and back." He sighed as he started checking my vitals. I looked over at Alpha Atticus who sighed softly and approached me with a sad smile.
"June, what do you remember? I know this wasn't done by you. So, don't say it was an accident." His voice was soft but firm as he asked me for my story.
"I... I fell over the side over the bridge while I was day dreaming." I lied. I don't want to know what repercussions I would face if I ratted out Hannah and her possè for what they did.
"Don't lie please. The amount of injuries you have could not have been just from you falling off the bridge." Alpha said. I winced as I looked down at my feet that were covered by the hospital blanket.
"If I tell you what happened, I fear there will me more in store for me and they will not stop until I am actually dead." I mumbled, feeling myself become very tired suddenly. Alpha nodded as if knowing who I was talking about as I mentioned the single word 'they'.
"Rest, June. I'll deal with things while you are recovering." He whispered before I fell asleep. The doctor pulling the syringe of medication out of the IV so that he may start repairing my shoulder.
