I was standing in the same spot that John had left me, reveling in the kiss he placed on my forehead. I touched the spot he kissed and smiled brightly. I could still feel the tingles and shocks that lingered. I thought when Noah had kissed me it was amazing, but this, this was magical and all he did was kiss my forehead. I couldn't' believe it, I got a second chance mate! I was so excited and giddy but my excitement didn't last too long. I immediately went into panic mode.

Oh no! s**t!

I kissed Noah!! I'm a w***e! How could I do that? I began to panic even more and my heart was beating so fast and I had to take several deep breaths to calm myself down and not go into a panic or anxiety attack.What if John felt it? Surely he will reject me.

"You're not a w***e princess, even if I was against it the whole time, it was just a kiss and in your defense we didn't know we had a mate and it's clear as day that John wants youm He isn't going to reject you"

"pfft. against it? You were howling in my head the entire time, Winter, but thank you and how do you know that he won't?"

" Because, I saw the way he looked at you. He was in love."

Wynter mocks as she emphasizes in love.I just shook my head at her and rolled my eyes. Maybe she's right, but also isn't it too soon to be in love? I mean we don't even know one another. What if I'm not what he is looking for or wants? I mean, after all I'm just a lowly, dirty no one.

" are you saying that I'm a no one?"

" What? No, of course not Winter, why would you even ask that stupid question?"

I was seriously taken back by what she said.

" That's what you call yourself and I am apart of you as well so that must mean I'm that as well?

"WHAT? no it's not, that's not fair and you know it."

" Isn't it though? If you say that about yourself and I'm apart of you then we both are."

I roughly tugged on my hair out of frustration. She knows I would NEVER say such things about her like that. She has been the one of the few people in my life that mean everything to me and is not a nothing or trash and she knows it.

"And neither are you Princess."

I decided to just let it go with myself and Winter and for now I would forget about what happened between myself and Noah, even if it was AMAZING! I truly hope that the Moon Goddess gives him the best mate out there because he deserves it. He is a great guy and any woman would be beyond blessed to have him as a mate. He is kind, caring, loving and fiercely loyal and is willing to lay his life on the line to protect not only his pack but the people he cares about as well. For now though, I will just focus on me and my mate and be happy that I have a second chance mate, for the time being. Who knows how long it's going to last? even though I'm not sure what I'm going to do about it anyway. Yes, he is beyond f*****g sexy, like super model greek god sexy, and I Know that looks aren't everything, that's just a plus but I'm so scared about how he will turn out. I have no clue who he is or what he's like. What if he is abusive or I'm not good enough for him and he rejects me. ugh, why me Moon Goddess? Haven't I been through enough. I've never asked for or wanted anything from anyone. I did what was TOLD of me to do. What is funny is that earlier Ally and I were talking about me getting a second chance mate and BAM it happened. I needed to go find her and V. I believe V was putting the finishing touches on the bar b que since that was the last place I had left her and Ally was still in the kitchen. I decided to mind-link V, since we came from the same pack we could do that, and find out where she was and her and I can go and find Luna Ally together

"Hey V?"

"Yeah Steph?"

"Where are you? "

" I'm In the kitchen with Luna Ally checking on the food, Why?"

"Stay there please. I'm on my way. I need to talk to you both."

"Okaayyy?"

she draws out. Obviously wondering and sensing that something is going on.

"is everything alright?"

She sounded very nervous. Just wait until they find out my news. They are both going to flip their lids.

"Yup! just fine! I will see you in a few."

I came out of the link and I rushed to the kitchen as fast as I could and burst through the door making Ally and V jump up and snap their heads at me with questioning gazes. Their faces were a mixture of emotions. Worried, scared, nervous and a bit of excitement as well.

"Whoa there, where is the fire?"

Ally chuckles. I mentally roll my eyes at her and hold my hand to my chest. I'm trying to catch my breath so I can tell them my news.They both look at me with concern etched still etched on their faces. Once my heart rate slowed down and I could finally breathe, I smiled a wide, but nervous smile. As soon as V realized I was fine she spoke.

"Okay you're here. What did you need to tell us?"

V asks, getting right to the point. I shook my head at her and then I looked around to make sure we were the only ones in the kitchen, which we were, thankfully because I wasn't ready to tell everyone else just yet. I pulled them both in real close and as quietly and quickly told them.

"Ihaveasecondchancemate"

I whispered yelled, only they didn't hear me.

"What"

Both of them asked me in unison. I slowed down my wording a bit but still repeated it fast.

"Ihaveasecondchancemate."

"What?"

They asked again, only this was louder

I put my finger over my lips to silence them.I then groan at them with annoyance whilst rolling my eyes at my friends. I love them but sometimes they can be slow

"Oh for the moon goddess sake! I have a second chance mate!"

I said a bit louder but not too loud. This seemed to do the trick because their eyes went wide with shock and happiness and they instantly started bombarding me with questions.

"What?"

Asked Ally.

"when?"

Asked Veda.

"who?"

They said at the same time whilst looking at each other and then back at me and smiling so wide.

"He is the Alpha that Joe waiting for earlier."

"Holy s**t! no way!!"

Ally stated excitedly.

"We are so happy for you Steph."

The girls engulfed me in a hug and I happily hugged them back

"Thank you. Not a word to anyone else. Got it?"

I demanded, but not in a rude or bitchy way, and thank goodness they both understood and they both shook their heads in agreement. I knew they knew where I was coming from.

"Alright guys, the food is almost done and Joe just mind-linked me, the meeting is almost over. Let's all go and get ready."

"Alright, I will see you guys shortly."

And with that we all left the kitchen and went our separate ways. I'm wearing an off the shoulder black dress that went to my knees with huge white angel wings on the back with a pair of sparkly flip flops. I kept my very long blonde wavy/curly hair down and did my make up in a light and natural way. Once I was finished getting dressed, I checked myself out in the mirror, turning my body at all different angles to make sure that I approved. When I felt satisfied with my look I left the room and stopped at V's. I knocked on the door and when she answered my jaw hit the floor and my eyes went wide with shock. There stood my conservative best friend in a navy blue dress that went to her thighs and black sandals with a smokey eye make up look and bright red lipstick. She was smoking! I could help but wolf whistle at her, making her blush and laugh.

"Holy s**t V, you look hott!!"

She looked down at the floor and then back up at me and thanking me.

"Thank you bestie."

It was the truth, Veda looked smoking. Veda has always been a gorgeous girl but she covers herself in loose and baggy clothes. She hated being looked at ever since those d**k weeds back at Dark Moon pack tried to assault her. I found her by the pond crying one evening and when I asked her what was wrong she wouldn't tell me. She was too upset, eventually she caved in and told me, and let me just say that when I heard what they did to her and almost did, I was so beyond livid that I walked right up to the fuckers that assaulted her and punched him dead in the face so hard that I broke his nose and blackened the other ones eyes. Chris found out of course because those little rats went to him, and they all ganged up on me and beat me so bad that I had broken ribs and I spent two days in the dungeons being whipped with silver, but it was totally worth it and I would happily do it all over again, no matter what, for her.Thats how much she means to me. As we descended the stairs we ran into Luna Allison. Veda and I wolf whistled at her as well. She was absolutely beautiful. There she was in a long silver dress with two slits on each side going up her legs. This bar b que wasn't anything fantasy and what we were all wearing wasn't too flashy but I guess we all decided on wearing dresses. We all linked arms and made our way out back. There was music blasting and the lights and candles were lit. It was a sight to see. We really did a good job. The Dark moon pack never looked this good. Even though they had money, they always went the cheapest route unless it was a special occasion. As we were walking to sit at our table I saw John and the guys all walking up as well. My mouth started watering and my jaw practically hit the floor when I saw him He was wearing dark blue jeans with a black cover shirt that was unbuttoned and had a sleeveless shirt underneath. As soon as he saw me, we locked eyes. He smiled a sexy smile at me which made me blush and lower my head a bit. The guys were all hollering at us As soon as we reached our table he got up, held his hand out for mine to which I gave and led us to sit down. When we were seated he still had my hand in his and the tingles were so intense. I was a bit nervous. He smelled so damn good as well. I couldn't help but to stare at him.

"You look absolutely beautiful"

He whispered in my ear. I shivered when his breath fanned my neck.

"Thank you."

I replied shyly. If little things like this turn me to mush and practically melt, then I can only imagine what will happen when we kiss or even..

I think to myself. I'm not sure what is going to happen between us and I don't want to fill my head with all these happy thoughts only to get crushed in the end.

I noticed my brother Adam wasn't' here yet and was about to ask where he was when a song came on and Veda squealed and pulled me and Luna Ally up to dance. Ever since we have come here it's like dancing and music have become a favorite past time. We never had fun like this and it feels amazing to kick back or have fun and feel free and not worry about getting in trouble or being beaten and sent to the dungeons or being starved. I was having such an amazing time and so we're V and Luna Ally. It made me smile. I then looked over at my mate who just smiled up at me with a huge grin plastered on his face and I mouthed sorry to him. I'm sure he wanted me to stay by him so we could talk and get to know each other but my best friend had other plans.

"come on, come on turn the radio on it's friday night and I won't be long, gotta do my hair and put my make up on, it's friday night and I won't be long. Til hit the dance floor hit the dance floor I got all I need I ain't got cash I ain't got cash I got you baby. baby I don't need dollar bills to have fun tonight (I love cheap thrills)

We were just dancing, having a great time just listening to the music and not having a care in the world and there were a lot more people dancing. Suddenly I felt someone bump into me and at first I didn't think anything of it, that is until I felt someone grab ahold of my hips and they started rubbing their pelvis on my butt. I instantly stopped dancing when I didn't feel those tingles or sparks from my mate and I immediately tried to get whoever it was off of me but they had such a tight grip that I couldn't get out of and then the next thing I know is whoever this person was, they turned me around to face them, and once they did, I came face to face with who the person was.Veda screamed and covered her mouth with her hands. I however tried to break away and get out of Chris's hold, but couldn't. He still had his hands on my hips in a tight ass grip and he didn't want to let me go and it was pissing me off.

"Get away from me! what a...are you do...doing here?"

I ask him in a shaky voice. I tried to act and sound strong but I failed miserably.

"Alpha meeting. I AM an Alpha remember?"

He emphasizes

I should have considered he may be here considering he is in the region. How could I have been so stupid and carefree? Chris pulled me closer to him and held me tighter, putting his face inches from mine. I could feel his breath on my lips, that is how close he was. I wanted to gag and throw up.

"Damn! you look so sexy "

he whispered in my ear, stilling my body instantly.

"Get the f**k off me!"

I growled at him whilst struggling to break free of his grasps. right as I said it the song was over and before another song came on everyone heard me. John was by my side in seconds, having heard me. Because there were a lot of other people dancing, his view of me was obstructed so he couldn't see me.

"I suggest you do as my mate says before I rip your hand off!"

He growled, his eyes black as night with anger.

"pftt. mate? She belongs to me. I'm her mate."

John looked even more pissed off, if that were even possible. His fists were balled up at his sides, ready to strike and he looked as if he were fighting his wolf for control.

"No, you're not! you rejected me, I accepted instantly! I don't want to be tied to you or your f****d up pack."

"DO.NOT.TALK.ABOUT.MY.PACK

He growled at me and put emphasis on each word he had said and pulled me harder, keeping me by him and tightening his grip on me. My arm was beginning to hurt.

"You're hurt....hurting me."

I stumbled out.

"LET HER f*****g GO!"

John growled powerfully, shaking the ground underneath us all and shoving Chris with so much force he stumbled back quite a few feet which got me released from him and John pulled me behind him in a protective way. Chris recovered himself and tried to stand tall and hold his ground and stand up to John. It was for show. There were people around and he didn't want to be viewed as weak,but he was scared. I could see it on his face and feel it radiating off of him. Before things got any worse, Alpha Joe came over and stood in between the two guys to defuse the tension between them.

"Alright gentleman. Calm down! You're at my pack and this is my party. I won't hesitate to kick you out of my territory. Now what is the problem here?"

Alpha Joe growled. He was clearly pissed off.

"This asshole put his hands on my mate. She asked him to let her go and he wouldn't and hurt her in the process."

John's anger spiked again but was trying to respect Alpha Joe. It's hard when he is an Alpha himself. Werewolves are naturally protective of their mates, especially Alphas. They are VERY dominant.

"SHE IS MINE!!!"

Chris shouted and tried to push himself around Alpha Joe and John to get to me but I had enough. I got from behind John's back and got right into Chris's face, standing tall and let him have it. Maybe I finally found my courage or maybe it was because I had some people backing me, I'm not sure, either way I finally spoke up to him. John had his arm around my stomach in a protective way, to pull me back if need be.

"I AM NOT YOURS!! YOU REJECTED ME AND I EXCEPTED. LET'S SAY YOU DIDN'T. I WOULD HAVE REJECTED YOU. YOU AND YOUR WHOLE PACK HAVE TORTURED MYSELF AND V OUR WHOLE LIVES. YOU HAVE BEAT ME, YOU'RE FAMILY STARVED ME. I HAVE SCARS ON MY BODY FROM SILVER WHIPS YOU BEAT ME WITH. SEE?"

I pulled my dress down, exposing my bra, to show him some of his designs he has created. He flinched and looked away. I chuckled slightly. Not in a "this is funny" way but a pathetic way.

"You're a coward! You can't even look at what you have done. I thought artists always go over and admire their work." You always did when you were creating them. Know this Chris, I hate you, I hate your pack, I always have and always will, so go back to them, stay out of my life and LEAVE ME THE f**k ALONE!"

I yelled at him. I stormed off and ran into the woods. I just wanted to be alone. I heard people yelling at me but I didn't care. I also saw how Alpha Joe was gawking and staring at whatever. Once I felt like I was far enough away I slumped down a tree and brought my knees to my chest and hugged them tightly and sobbed.
