Alpha Andre’s POV:
Without looking back I walked away from my mate and went straight to my home where I hoped to have some time to think this through before I went to see her in my office.
Who would have thought that the moon goddess would give me a non-warrior for a mate?
All my life I have always wanted what my parents had. A stable relationship, mum balanced out dad on a lot of levels. She was even one of his generals, that was how competent she was. She led werewolves on crusades for the alpha king without my dad. When dad had to travel he did not have much to think of except the mission at hand because his mate held on to the fort in his absence.
She was the definition of a real warrior, but now I am being blessed with a wolf who lacked the warrior’s essence?
Mating across the borders is naturally unheard of because we essentially have nothing to do with each other. This explained why most settled for choice mates after a certain age, but this could not be happening to me.
Nothing could have prepared me for this. But I had to admit, my mate was beautiful. If I removed the whole not being from the warrior pack thing from the equation she was exquisite, her skin was soft to feel, her hair was lush, begging to be held between his fingers and the way she responded to me was solid gold.
With a sigh I called in my officials, I perceived their scents behind the door. The party could go to hell for I cared right now.
“Alpha Arthur, the lady is in your office and there are guards stationed outside. I called Gamma Donald since she is from his jurisdiction. Delta Maeve just tagged along for the sake of it.” Beta Kingsley said and I smiled at the shade he threw at Delta Maeve. Good thing these two were just working partners and not mates.
“Yes, because I am the jobless one in your midst. I will get back to you shortly. Alpha Arthur, why is the girl in your office? Did she do something wrong?” Delta Maeve asked me. There was always something so calm and gracious about her persona.
“Nothing, she did not do anything wrong. She is my mate but I just don’t see her being what this pack needs right now. How on the goddess loving earth do I get paired with someone from across the border?” I said to them in a sigh. This was giving me a headache. My wolf was suggesting I move her here but the fear of what my pack mates could do to her was stopping me from uttering those words.
There was no tolerance for weakness on this side of the wall. The weak were prey for the stronger over here. I cannot afford a Luna I needed to babysit.
“Oh, why don’t you bring her over? Allow her to train with us or something. The moon goddess never makes a mistake. I am sure with a little push in the right direction you can have her be whatever you need her to be.” Delta Maeve suggested with a simple shrug of her shoulder. Beta Kingsley did the same thing, Gamma Donald said nothing.
‘And if she does not pick up?” I asked Delta Maeve who shrugged.
“We cross that bridge when we get there. In the meantime try to keep your wolf under control, you might wake one day to find that you have marked her and she is not compatible with the lifestyle.” Delta Maeve said and I nodded my head. Without a word I excused myself, time to go and see my female.
Endrei’s POV:
I was hurt that he walked out on me like that but I did not show it. Right now I was seated in his office but his book shelf was calling my name. I sighed one more time before going over to peruse the books he had on display.
I found a few pleasure reads but most of them were pack laws and agreements. As I pulled out the first one the door opened and the scent of my male hit me.
I turned to look at him, at the same time I pushed the book back in its place.
“Hi.” I said when he was not saying anything but merely watching me.
“Hello.” He said to me, I find that I love listening to him. His voice, just like every other part of him that I have been acquainted with, was soothing.
“I want you and your family to move over here. It will help with us getting to know each other better and to give this mate bond a try.” He said to me and my heart sang with joy, but I heard what was unsaid. He was unsure if this was going to work. At least he was willing to try, so I will as well.
“Alright. I will talk with my parents once I get home. How soon do we move?” I asked him, I could have this conversation even though my heart was breaking gradually.
“As soon as you are ready. Gamma Donald would be at your disposal. Come, let me at least introduce you to the pack.” The Alpha said to me, that was when I realized that I did not know his name.
“Is it Endrei?” I loved the way my name rolled off of his tongue.
“Umm, I do not know what your name is.” I said to him and for some reason my face flamed up. I heard him chuckle and say something along the lines of cute.
“My name is Arthur, to everyone else it is Alpha Arthur.” He said to me, His name suited him. I nodded my head.
Together we stepped into the ballroom that in itself was a statement as people naturally turned towards their alpha. My heart sank when the warm and respectful looks sent to their alpha turned to glares as they turned to me.
