“Tell me about the first time you met Cole West.”
It’s funny, really, the thought that the first and only time I met Cole West was the day we killed him. I’d heard about him, of course—word travels fast at Tucker High, and anyway, I was there the day he called Brooke. But I had never met him.
“I had just received the text from Brooke—the one Jason mentioned. I only lived a few blocks away from her, so I was there in minutes. When I got there…” I shudder at the memory. “He was kissing Kate, if you can even call it kissing. It was almost like he was devouring her. She wasn’t fighting him, but she was whimpering—crying—clearly distressed. I realized later she was doing it to save Brooke’s life.
