Chapter 13: Liza POV So far our birthday has been interesting. My baby sister Lily introduced her human mate, we had a yummy breakfast, and just now Lina made a scene. Their drama brought me no amusement. Honestly for me this was just another day. I was just excited to be getting a chance to eat a slice of cake. We rarely had cake. Sometimes I dream about it or fantasize when I work out. I'm a gym addict but I can't pretend to not love sweets. "Here, try this." I turned around to see an Omega wearing an apron. She was offering me a piece of tiramisu. I felt my heart thumping. She was really pretty with blonde hair and bright blue eyes. I didn't know her name. We had a lot of Omegas in our pack. "What's your name?" She smiled sweetly. "Tricia." I felt warmth wash over my whole body and a ridiculous amount of desire hit me all at once. Was this girl my mate? How come she seemed unaffected. "How old are you?" I asked her. "Fifteen," she said. She has beautiful white teeth, a brilliant smile. I sighed. Too young. I took the treat from her tray and told her to serve some to the guests. She nodded and smiled. She disappeared, completely ignorant of the mate bond I was experiencing. "What's wrong, Sweetie?" I looked downward to see my mother. I was almost six foot tall so I had to look down at her and my baby sister who were both on the short side. "I found my mate but she is younger," I sighed. "Where?" She asked. I pointed out into he crowd at the cute blonde. "Oh, that's Tricia. She is a very sweet girl, a talented Baker!" I nodded, "She is 15. I can't even imagine flirting with a pup." I sighed again. My mom put her hand on my arm and said, "Baby doll, you do what you think is best. Just don't give her special treatment without explaining why. You'll put a target on her back otherwise." I nodded. It made sense. I didn't want to make her a victim of bullying. "Come along, Sweetie. Your sister's ceremony is about to start." I followed my mother and joined the family table. Soft music began and I watched as Liza and Lily walked down a beautiful white aisle. They were both wearing elegant dresses. I felt strange suddenly in my pants suit. I didn't think I looked good in dresses so I didn't wear them often. I felt self conscious. What did my mate think when she saw me? Did she find me attractive? Was I half as pretty as my two feminine sisters? Lina and Samuel went first. They vowed eternity to one another. Then they stayed on stage as Lily and Alec made their vows. They were already marked so it was more about the ceremony and formality than anything. Alec was about to speak his vow to Lily when a loud growl erupted from the back of the crowd. We all turned to see Alpha Phillip. His face was crimson with rage. He howled and shifted. He took off for the stage. A few seconds later my brother and father were shifting. Many warriors followed suit. While the males fought off the angry alpha I led the vulnerable back to the house, which included my mother, Lily, Alec, Aunt Shawna, and the omegas. My mate was amongst them. Tricia was the first one I forced into the safe room. After everyone was secured inside I ran back outside and surveyed the situation. Phillip had brought a few men but their numbers were nothing compared to ours. "Where is my Luna?!" He shouted. He was human again. He was very angry and very naked. He was surrounded by our pack but continued on his rampage. "Enough of this!" Screamed my father, Alpha Nathan. He had shifted for the purpose of confronting Phillip. "You cannot attack our pack, Phillip! It is part of the treaty!" Phillip stood there in the middle of our wrecked backyard, his chest heaving up and down. "I don't give two shits about the treaty! I want Lily as my Luna and I want her now!" Daddy growled at him, "Too late! She is marked by her human mate! Now get off my land!" Phillip's eyes turned black. "Marked by the human? That's hilarious! Of course she got a hunter! I can't wait to see you all die!" Silence fell on the pack. Did he just say hunter?! We all exchanged looks. "Don't listen to him. Alec is not a hunter. We would know by now," Uncle Matthew linked to us all. "He probably comes from a long line of them! The only humans who can mark shifters are hunters! Can I have your house when you're all slaughtered?!" Phillip was laughing maniacally. Eventually the warriors ran him and his men out of our territory. Alec a hunter? No way. Hunters are big, strong, and aggressive. Alec was none of those things. He was average height and weight and seemed to be on the gentler side. He couldn't be one. He couldn't. Could he? Watching my father, brother, and uncle lock my sister's mate up was hard. She cried so hard. He was alive in the dungeon and yet I could already see the light dimming in her eyes the first night.
