Chapter 12: Lina POV Today is my birthday! I'm 18! I can finally have my Acceptance Ceremony with Samuel. About time! At breakfast Lily made a scene. Her mate is human! I laughed so hard. She seems happy so I guess I'm happy for her. After we ate pancakes and bacon I dragged Samuel to the formal wear rental shop. They had a suit ready for him and a dress for me. Our ceremony was scheduled to take place after lunch. Mom told me to get Lily a dress too now because she is having a ceremony too. Sigh. Sometimes I wish I was an only child and not a triplet. Lily and her human arrived at the shop a few minutes after us. My friend Margaret works there as a seamstresses. She always fawns over Lily because she has this tiny body that requires costly alterations. I like my leggy hourglass shape better but whatever, the girl works on commission. I don't blame her. My sister and mother always kept her busy with altering clothes. "We won't have time to alter something before the party today but I have a dress that is perfect," Margaret said running to a rack. She returned with a short green dress with a sheer sparkly skirt. I felt a pang of jealousy. It was really pretty and would have looked great work my red hair. "It's beautiful!" Lily's eyes lit up. Her human smiled and encouraged her to try it on. When she came out of the fitting room my jaw dropped. Lily looked so pretty! Her human and Margaret lavished her with compliments. I got really mad when Samuel told her it suited her. Ugggh! After we got the human a suit we returned home. Guests from ally packs were arriving. My eyes widened when I saw the growing pile of gifts on the table by the back door. I love gifts! "Lina, right?" The voice caught me off guard. I turned to see the human. I held back my jokes and said, "In the flesh. What's your name again?" He shifted uncomfortably under my gaze. "Alec. I came to ask you for a favor." I glared at him. No one asks me for favors. They know I don't like doing anything I don't have to. "Lily is nervous about standing on stage in front of everyone. I know it's selfish but could we have a double ceremony so she doesn't feel alone and on the spot?" He was rubbing the back or his neck nervously. "Hell no! I'm not sharing another thing with you and the runt!" He stared at me shocked. Suddenly everything around me fell silent. All the conversations happening came to a stand still. To my dismay Lily was standing not even ten feet away from us with Daniel. She had tears in her eyes. She ran into the house. The human followed her. Daniel growled at me. I watched in horror as he came at me. "What the hell is wrong with you?!" He picked me up by the collar of my shirt. My feet left the ground. "Why are you such a wretched wolf?!" I didn't answer. My brother never talked to me like this. Ever. "Put her down!" My daddy came to my rescue! Daniel did as he was told. I smiled up at my father. Thank Goddess. I was definitely a daddy's girl. "What is wrong with you?!" He growled. I wasn't expecting that. "But...but I've been waiting for months for this day, this ceremony! She hasn't even know they were mates a full 24 hours!" He glared at me. "Go to your room! We will see if you get a ceremony at all today!" I growled and stormed off. Samuel followed behind me like usual. "Baby, was that really necessary? We could share our ceremony with Lily and Alec. It wouldn't bother me any!" I glared at him as he stood in the middle of the room. I was sitting on my bed. "Lily is always the center of attention! For once it was supposed to be about me!" I screamed unapologetically. Samuel narrowed his eyes at me. "About you? Don't you mean us?" I threw me head up. What? "An Acceptance Ceremony is a public vow as a couple. It isn't just about you. It should be about us!" "What the hell?! How are you on her side and not mine?!" I asked, angry. His eyes turned black. "Maybe you're not ready for this, for being mates. I'm sorry I acted on the mate bond when I did. Obviously you're too self-centered to vow eternity to me. I mean for Goddess sake you can't even be nice to your own sister!" His face was red and twisted. I'd never in my life seen him angry. He had never raised his voice at me. His wolf growled at my lack of response. "I'm done, Lina. You can have your party and whatever else. I'm not dealing with this s**t anymore. It's not worth it!" He stormed out of my bedroom. I chased after him. "Babe! Babe! Wait! Don't leave me!" He stopped halfway down the hallway and turned. His anger radiated off his tall muscular body. "Fix things with your sister and I'll think about it." "Fine!" I screamed and stomped my foot. He glared at me unapologetically. I walked to Lily's room. I could hear her sobs before I got to her door. "Why does she hate me so much? She's my sister! I always knew we weren't close but I can't believe she calls me a runt with such disdain." Her human said some soothing words to her. "Maybe it's best we don't have our ceremony today. I always dreamed of this moment. I honestly never thought I'd find you or have a ceremony. When we were pups Lina used to tell me runts don't get mates, that Mom was some special exception but not me. I wasn't supposed to have a mate. You're like some kind of miracle, Alec." Lily's words to her mate stung my heart. Did I really used to say such hateful things? I sighed. It really does sound like something I'd say. I was about to knock when I heard the human suggest something insane. "Baby, I'll do whatever you want but I don't think anyone should stop us from making our vows. Should we run away and elope?" I busted into the bedroom. "Have you lost your damn mind?! You are not dishonoring my sister's Alpha blood with some ridiculous human elopement!" Lily looked up at me, tears in her eyes. The human smirked. "What are you doing here, Lina?" Lily asked. I stormed across the room and took her hand and pulled her into a hug away from the human. "I'm saving you from ruining your life! We are werewolves, Alpha daughters! We have ceremonies and we do them in pretty dresses in front of family. We don't run off and elope like savages! I won't let you do this to yourself!" Lily pulled away from me and grabbed her mate's hand. "Why? I'm just a runt you don't want to share your birthday with, aren't I?" I'd never seen Lily fight back before today. "You're my sister and I know I can be an asshole but I'm not letting you ruin your life over my stupidity!" She stared shocked. She grabbed me up in a hug. "I love you, Lina!" I hugged her back and told her I loved her too. When I looked up her human was smirking again. "What's so funny?" I asked, annoyed. "I knew the elopement would work on you." I stared, confused. "Excuse me?" He chuckled. "I would totally elope with Lily but I knew you wouldn't let that happen. You werewolves are way too conservative." Lily and I looked at him. "You tricked her?" She asked with wide eyws. He nodded and showed a pearly white smile. "Yep. You're welcome, sister-in-law." I grumbled and walked out. From the hallway I could hear Lily thanking her human for making things right between us. I smiled. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to share today with my sisters.
