Chapter 11: Alec POV
There are no words. I found out the love of my life not only loves me back but she is also a werewolf. I never thought I'd know love or discover werewolves are more than fiction. I knew from the moment I laid eyes on Lily she would change my world forever.
When I woke up Saturday morning I was very disoriented. It was like I was high on a drug. The only thing I could see was that Lily was laying in bed with me. She looked so beautiful with her long brown hair. She was cuddled into my chest. I watched her sleep for several minutes before her eyes fluttered. Her gaze immediately locked on mine. "Good morning, handsome mate," she giggled. I blushed. "Good morning and happy birthday." She sat up and I felt myself blush harder. She was sleeping in only her bra and shorts.
Something on her collarbone caught my attention. "What is that?" I asked. It looked like a tattoo. "What is what?" She asked sleepily. I pointed at the tattoo. I'd seen her collarbone multiple times and that wasn't there before. She climbed out of bed and walked into what I assumed was the attached bathroom. I heard her gasp. I ran in after her. She was staring at her reflection in the mirror. "I don't understand," I said. She turned and said, "Alec, this is amazing. I don't know how but you marked me too!" She jumped up and down excitedly. Then her eyes grew wide. "What's wrong?" I asked. She put her hand to her heart. "I jumped and got excited but I don't feel like my heart hurts! This is amazing!" I smiled. She looked so cute and so happy.
Suddenly she flung her tiny body at me. "You are the best, Alec!" She kissed me roughly. I wasn't complaining. I didn't really know what I did but I wasn't going to stop this passion train. I kissed her back. Our tongues battled for dominance. Once again I won. I have this sneaking suspicion that she lets me take control on purpose.
"I love you," I said as she kissed me again. We had moved back to the bed. "I love you too, now shut up and kiss me." I liked how forceful she was being. It was really sexy. She pulled my shirt off. I felt so average compared to her. She had a beautiful body while I was just, well, me. She ran her hands down my bare chest and that sent shockwaves through my whole body. I put my hands in her hair as she brought herself into my lap. She was so tiny. It was the easiest thing in the world to fit her in my lap. As we kissed I fantasized about how easy it would be to push her up against the wall and thrust inside her while holding her light body. She moaned against my kisses. I felt myself grow hard just from that. Last night she talked about marking and mating. Would she mate me now? Was it that quick? It was almost overwhelming how well this was going.
"What the f**k?!!" An unfamiliar voice boomed through the air, causing us to freeze. We both turned to look towards the door. It was open. And oh my God, a beast of a man stood in the doorway. His eyes were pitch black and he had white hair mixed with red. His features were familiar but not exactly. Lily pulled away from me and waved her finger in the air. "Pop-pop this is my bedroom and my mate. Please leave." The man glared at me. "Shirt on now, human!" I felt my heart stop. He was frightening. I pulled my shirt on and got off the bed to appease the beast. He huffed and turned around, his back to us. He wasn't leaving! Lily sighed, put her shirt on and walked over and closed the door. She locked it. A string of curses could be heard outside. "That's Grandpa Leon by the way," she said, her tone laced with embarrassment and sadness. I hated that he saw that too but I wasn't going to let anything or anyone ruin her special day. "We will get through this," I said squeezing her hand.
After we cleaned up we walked downstairs. There were a lot of people in the kitchen and living areas. No joke I counted like thirty people. Many of them were walking around in pajamas. How many people lived here?!
When we entered the dining room we got all kinds of glares. It didn't take more than a few seconds for me to realize they all knew. Her brother Daniel walked over to us and sniffed the air between us. "They marked but did not mate," he announced to what seemed to be the whole family. I felt my whole body stiffen. How the hell did they know that? The men at the table all sighed out of relief while the women rolled their eyes.
"Happy birthday, Darling, and congratulations." I recognized the red-haired woman as Lily's mother. She hugged Lily and then approached me. "Hello again," she said, hugging me. "Now you better treat my little Lily Flower right or else," she said pointing her tiny finger at me. If she was human I'd say this was laughable but knowing what I know now I wasn't laughing. "Yes ma'am," I managed to say. I was scared. I wasn't even hiding it. "Call me Willa or Mom, whatever you prefer," she said in a sing-song voice. Her husband growled. That was something I'd have to get used to. "You will call her Luna and me Alpha until I say otherwise, understand human?" I gulped. "Y-yes, Alpha." Luna Willa walked back to her mate and smacked his chest. "Don't talk to our new son like that!" He growled again. This was frightening! "But..." "Don't but me Nathan. He has marked our pup. They are practically married. He is family." I felt my eyes bulge. Did she say married?!
A man who looked like the alpha started laughing. He was looking in my direction. Then the pregnant woman holding his hand giggled. Everyone joined him in laughter. Everyone but Luna, me, and Lily. I was somehow out of the loop. I turned to Lily. "What's so funny?" I asked her. She sighed, "They think you don't know that when we marked we made a lifetime commitment to always be with one another. Technically we haven't had our Acceptance Ceremony or wedding so we are not legally married but in the eyes of the werewolf community we are basically married because wolves mate for life." She said the last part with her fingers making air quotes. I nodded. I hadn't thought of it that way but before she marked me she explained this was for the rest of our lives. That much I knew.
"How can they all be in on the joke though?" I asked, confused. Lily giggled. "Check this out," she said. "We have this thing called mindlinking." Her voice was in my head suddenly! I took a step back, caught off guard. "What the heck was that?" I asked out loud. More giggles. She smiled, "Now that we are marked you and I can mindlink meaning we can communicate internally without speaking out loud. When we have our ceremony and you officially join the pack you'll be able to mindlink with the whole pack. Everyone here is family and part of the pack so we can all mindlink one another." I nodded, understanding I had a lot to learn.
Lily suddenly turned to the group of people in front of us. "Everyone I'd like to officially introduce my mate, Alec Matthews. He is 19 and a student at the University as well." She looked at me. "He is very smart and very kind. I love him a lot. Please be kind or expect all hell to break loose. I'm a runt but I'm not afraid of any of you." She smiled at the group. Their jaws dropped. This time it was my turn to laugh.
"Alec, my love, starting from the left side you have my sister Lina, her mate Samuel, my sister Liza, my brother Daniel, his mate Jeanie, Beta Thomas, my father Alpha Nathan, my mother Luna Willa, Uncle Matthew, Aunt Shawna, and lastly my Pop-pop.
The old man growled in my direction. Lily rolled her eyes and walked over to the old man. "Pop-pop, do we really have to have a talk about you being nice to my mate? I love him!" He looked up at her in surprise. "You have your mother and grandmother's spirit, my dear Lily Flower. Alright the human is fine I guess." He winked at her. She bounced excitedly and hugged him. "I knew I could count on you, Pop-pop!"
"Lily! You're not breathing heavy!" Her father ran over excitedly. "How is that possible, Flower?!" She looked to me. "It's all thanks to Alec. Look!" She pulled her shirt collar aside and showed off her mark. Everyone crowded her. "How is that possible?" Her uncle asked out loud. She and I shared a look. "Lily marked me after midnight. That was just kind of there when we woke up this morning," I said, shrugging. I heard a low growl. "I'm sorry!" They all laughed. Her uncle approached and grabbed my chin. He looked into my eyes and sniffed me. "Definitely human!" More laughter erupted in the room.
"You see Alec, we have never had a human in our pack before. We didn't know a mark would appear on a wolf mated to a human," Luna Willa said. I nodded. "I didn't know werewolves existed before today so I guess we all learned something new today?" Everyone burst into laughter, myself included. It felt good to laugh and be part of the family. Or is it pack? Oh well, I have a lot to learn from these werewolves.
