Accidentally Yours

Maya's POV~ I tightened my grip as I walked into West Bridge High School. My stomach twisted as I walked through the gate. One part of me was relieved to finally leave the past behind, though the memories still lingered in my head. The other part wondered if this school would be any different. A young woman, probably in her early thirties, approached me. “Maya Bennett, right?” She asked with a friendly smile. " Yes,” I replied. " I'm Mrs Foster, the guidance counsellor. Welcome to West Bridge." " Thank you, ma’am” " Come with me” she said, walking forward I nodded and followed her from behind. I got transferred into West Bridge High after a conspiracy at my old school. "My old school was nothing compared to this", I wondered as we walked along the hallway Mrs Foster stopped in front of a classroom. She knocked on the classroom door, and a voice came from inside. “Come in". The voice said She walked into the classroom, and I followed her. Mrs Foster walked to the class teacher and whispered into their ear. I scanned through the class and noticed they were not up to thirty students. “Good morning, students" Mrs Foster said “Good morning, ma" only a few answered her. “This is Maya Bennett, a transferred student" “A transferred student by mid-term?" “She is beautiful, though" “Who joins a new school by mid term" "Why did she leave her old school?" My heart skipped a beat after hearing that I heard different voices, and I felt nervous at that moment. “Silence, everyone" the teacher cautioned them. “Introduce yourself, please" she said “Hi, I'm Maya Bennett. Nice to meet you guys. I hope to get along well with you guys," I said, and a round of applause followed. The applause eased some of the tension in my chest. The teacher scanned through the class and spotted an empty seat beside a guy with his face glued to the book in front of him, completely uninterested in whatever was going on in the class. “You can sit beside Adrian" I followed her gaze and walked to the seat. “Make yourself comfortable" Mrs Foster said and left the class. "Welcome, Maya. I'm Ms. Georgia," the class teacher said, smiling. "So guys, let's continue the class", she said, facing the class. " Hi” I said to my new seatmate. He flipped to the next page in his book without even glancing at me. No greeting No response " So rude” I thought. The class ended, and Ms. Georgia left immediately. The second, third and fourth periods ended, and it was time for break. Adrian left the class as soon as the bell rang. “Hi Maya" I looked up and saw a girl standing and smiling in front of me “Hi" “I'm Sophie,” she said. " Nice to meet you” I said and smiled. " I noticed Adrian ignored you; you don't have to take it to heart" " He is not the type that relates to people” she said. " Oh, I see”. " Who does he think he is?” I whispered to myself. " Do you mind if we go to the cafeteria together? Maybe we can get to know each other better” " No, I don't” I said, and we both left for the cafeteria together. We arrived at the cafeteria and bought some snacks. After scanning through the room, we found a quiet spot beside the window and sat down. "Just so you know..." Sophie said, lowering her voice. "What?" I asked, looking curious. "You are sitting beside the smartest student in West Bridge High. " " And the most feared." " Feared?" I frowned. "Why would someone like Adrian be feared?" "And be careful not to cross his path", she added. That made me more curious about him. Two girls walked into the cafeteria, one with blonde hair and the other with black hair. People noticed them as soon as they walked in. "Who are they?" I asked Sophie "That's Vennessa Hart", she said, slightly pointing at the one with the blonde hair "And that's Audrey, the one standing beside her" "They are the Queen bees of West Bridge High." I looked at them and scoffed. " One more thing ", Sophie added " Vennessa has always claimed her family has a business partnership with Adrian's. "She never failed to mention that whenever his name comes up" "Is that true, or is she just trying to fit in?" I said, raising an eyebrow. "Adrian has never confirmed her claims," she said. "He has never spared her a glance before or even sought her out," she added I looked at Vennessa and shook my head
