The evidence against Marcus stared back at me from the security tablet. My hands shook slightly as I showed the clear timestamps and messages to Asher. The man we had trusted for years had sold us out to the Shadow Vipers without hesitation.
“This cannot be right,” Asher said staring at the screen with disbelief. “Marcus has fought beside me for over ten years. He helped build this pack from nothing.”
“I wish it was wrong too,” I replied quietly. “But the proof is here. He was the one feeding them information about the clinic location. He is the reason they were able to take Liam so easily.”
We decided to bring Marcus in for questioning right in the center of the compound. Pack members gathered around forming a tense circle. The air felt thick with suspicion. Lucas stood on one side looking ready to explode with fury. Asher stood on the other with cold controlled anger burning in his eyes.
“Bring him out,” Asher ordered.
Two wolves dragged Marcus into the open. He looked nervous and avoided everyone’s gaze. The pack waited silently for answers.
“Explain yourself,” Asher demanded stepping forward. “Why did you betray your own pack? Why did you help the Vipers take a child?”
Marcus shifted on his feet. “I did not have a choice Alpha. They threatened my mate and pups. They said they would kill them if I did not cooperate.”
Lucas moved closer with clenched fists. “You helped them kidnap my son. Give me one good reason I should not tear your throat out right here and now.”
Asher pushed forward. “He is my responsibility. I will handle the punishment.”
“You handle nothing,” Lucas snapped back. “This is my son we are talking about. Your blood or not you do not get to decide everything.”
The words were like gasoline on fire. Asher lunged first throwing a powerful punch that connected hard with Marcus’s jaw. Lucas jumped into the fight grabbing Asher by the collar. The two Alphas crashed together in a brutal explosion of violence.
“Stop this!” I shouted but my voice got lost in the chaos.
Fists flew fast and hard. They shifted partially with claws extending and fangs flashing under the lights. The pack watched in stunned silence as their two leaders tore into each other. Blood splattered onto the dirt ground.
I pushed through the crowd forcing my way to the center. “Enough! Both of you stop fighting right now!”
They did not listen. I stepped directly between the two raging Alphas as they charged at each other again. I shoved them apart with every ounce of strength I had.
“I said enough!” I yelled. My voice carried real power this time. It echoed across the compound. “This fighting is not helping Liam. It is not helping any of us. You are supposed to be leaders. Act like it.”
Both men froze staring at me. For the first time they truly saw my strength. Not as someone who needed protection but as an equal who could stand between two powerful Alphas and make them listen.
Asher stepped back breathing heavily. “Soren I…”
Lucas wiped blood from his split lip. “He is right about one thing. We need real answers.”
I turned to Marcus who was on the ground holding his side. “Tell us everything. Who else is involved in this? How deep does the betrayal go?”
Marcus coughed and looked up. “It goes much deeper than me. Someone close to Asher has been working with the Vipers for months. They wanted the boy because of the power in his blood.”
Before he could say more an old pack elder stepped forward holding ancient documents. “There is something else all of you need to hear.”
The elder spread the papers on a table. They showed clear proof. Lucas’s brother’s death years ago was not a random accident. It was a carefully planned murder tied directly to the Shadow Gift. Someone had killed him to stop the power from growing stronger in the family line.
Lucas staggered back as if someone had punched him in the gut. “All these years I thought it was just bad luck. They murdered him? My own brother?”
The revelation hit him like a hammer. He dropped to his knees looking completely broken. “Everything I believed about that night was a lie.”
I knelt beside him placing a hand on his shoulder. “I am so sorry Lucas. We will find who did this. I promise.”
Asher watched the scene with complicated emotions flashing across his face. “This changes nothing about the traitor still inside our pack.”
I stood up and looked at both Alphas. “We work together on this from now on. No more fighting between you two. Liam needs all of us united if he is going to survive what is coming.”
The pack murmured in agreement but the heavy tension remained thick in the air. Later that night while reviewing more security files in private I found something that made my blood run ice cold. A hidden message log showed communication between Marcus and someone even closer to Asher. Someone in his most trusted inner circle had been playing both sides for a long time.
The betrayal ran much deeper than Marcus alone. Someone Asher trusted completely had been feeding information to our enemies.
I stared at the screen feeling the full weight of everything crashing down around me. The fight between the Alphas was only the beginning. A much bigger and more dangerous storm was coming straight for all of us.
