Chapter 1
Time Traveler
I let my eyes wander at the piece of art in front of me. It's the image painted by the infamous painter, Leonardo da Vinci, the Mona Lisa. I raised the lense of my camera to capture its enticing beauty.
As a student with a major in arts, to personally see these kinds of great pieces is one of the greatest experiences for me. So I was really thankful that I got a chance to see it. Thanks to my friend who tagged me along here at Louvre Museum for her vacation trip.
My father would never allow me to come here alone, more so for this kind of reason. He hates my chosen degree. For him, I just wasting my time instead of following his step, which was becoming a doctor.
I love him, but I just really can't do what he wants for me. I don't like the smell of medicine, more so seeing people dying. I know it will just remind me of my mother who died four years ago.
"So how's your experience so far, Snow?" Rosanna chimed in with my thoughts and hooked her arm to mine. She's wearing her sunglasses and an eye-catching knee-length floral dress.
I smiled and she grinned.
But she was distracted when she saw a group of British-like men not so far from us. She giggled as the eyes of one of them landed on her. I shook my head as she winked at him. The man's face reddened in an instant. Well, my friend is a real beauty. She has tanned skin and a great body. Not to mention she has a fierce look like those famous high fashion models. Unlike me, who is called by everyone a skin and bones nerd because of my thin body and pale skin.
"Do you want a bet? He'll come to us and will ask for my digits." She whispered with full of confidence.
I lifted my eyes again at the men. They were now looking in our direction. My silly friend grinned at me while I felt a bit of shame. Especially when the man she winked at really stride towards our direction, just like what she said to me.
She tucked some strands of her hair while smiling at him as the man reached her. The man looks bewitched by her beauty. My friend introduced herself and me to the guy, but the latter's eyes didn't even eye me. He only focuses on my friend.
I just sighed and decided to let the two talk alone. I then started to roam around the place. I took pictures here and there until I caught something on my camera. I zoomed into it and saw a woman in a weird but beautiful gown. She has a very white skin and blonde hair. Her hands were intertwined at her back while staring in front of a certain painting. I couldn't see her face properly from my point of view, so I took a step to get a glimpse of her face.
But before I could take a peek, she turned her back. And as if I was in a trance with her, I instantly followed her.
"M-Miss wait!" I called, with full of curiosity.
I saw her stiffen a bit before she pressed the door in front of her. I hurriedly followed through that door but as I opened it, goosebumps enveloped my body when I saw no one inside. It's an empty room.
Silence greeted me. I shuddered.
"What?" I mumbled and stood rooted on my feet. I roamed my eyes in every corner of the room, but there was really no sign of that woman. She...disappeared like that. But is that possible?
I gulped and rubbed my eyes a bit. "Is that just my imagination?"
I chuckled a bit to hide my nervousness before I walked towards the window. I peered and looked down at the familiar sight. Everything was normal. I closed my eyes and let out a heavy sigh.
"Maybe because I didn't eat my breakfast? Yeah, that's it." I convinced myself before I turned to go back, but a sudden pang of pain hit the back of my head. My vision spinned and I lost my balance.
"Sh*t why so sudden?" I winced while holding my aching head. But as I lifted my eyes, chills ran down my spine. My lips parted, and my eyes dilated because of the new and unfamiliar sight in front of me.
"W-What in the world is the name of this?" I said with a shocked expression. The door of the room was replaced by a big glass door, and behind it was a...masquerade party?
I stood up from my feet without blinking and tearing my eyes from it. I subtly took a step towards the door and watched everyone in their classic style of gowns and suits. They danced in a rhythm like they were in some kind of classic movie.
Is this still the Louvre Museum?
I shook my head and moved backwards.
"N-No of course not. But w-what the hell is happening? Why am I suddenly here---ack!" I almost lost my balance again as I didn't see that I was already on the edge of the...balcony?
My feet immediately moved aside, but the unfamiliar landscape struck me like thunder.
Where are the buildings and skyscrapers? The famous Eiffel Tower? The great view of Paris? Why...the view suddenly looks like an old version of everything?
Not to mention, it was already depressingly dark. But it wasn't even twelve pm! I haven't even eaten my lunch! So what in the world is happening right now?
I looked back at the glass door.
I don't know what kind of creep this all is, but I should go back now. Maybe...maybe this is all just hallucinations. I need to see Rosanna now and take her out of this place.
But I gasped when I saw an unrealistic reflection of mine from the glass. My pants and white tee shirt were gone. I was wearing the gown that I saw of the woman that I tried to chase just minutes ago!
My knees wobbled and my hands trembled. What is happening? Lights appeared, and a bang followed by one another enveloped my ears. I looked above and saw fireworks in the sky.
Like a cue, I harshly opened the glass door and ran inside to find the door to leave that place. My heartbeats were at a fast pace as I ran and ran without looking at anyone. The music played harshly, and my heartbeats pounded hard as well.
But the intense classical music changed and everyone walked in a pair through the center of the grand hall, making it hard for me to move.
My heart pounded even more.
"N-No...please let me go!" I shouted and made a space for myself by pushing just about anyone. I don't care anymore what they think of me. I need to get out of here! I need to see Rosanna! I need to go back at the museum!
I couldn't stop myself from panicking. The horror was crawling and penetrating through me.
I saw big double doors. My feet automatically moved in that direction. But before I could reach through the door to exit that suffocating place, a sudden force pushed me back as I bumped into it. I landed on the cold floor with an aching back.
"You..."
I raised my head and saw five men appear in front of me. The four were wearing face masks. My eyes were captured by the man in the center, who I obviously bumped into. He wasn't wearing a mask, so I could see his face. And all I can say is he looks like art.
His beauty is almost ethereal. No, he really is.
A small gasp escaped my mouth as our eyes locked. His attractive and piercing blue eyes made my head blank. It was hypnotizing.
"Stand up." A low and attractive voice came out of his lips. My eyes glued on it before it landed on his hand. He offered it to me, as if he wanted to help me.
I licked my lips and accepted it. Which I wish I didn't.
I stiffened as an electrifying feeling traveled through my body as our skin touched. His eyes darkened before he pulled my body like a string. His scent filled my nose as I collided with his strong and hard chest.
I thought it was romantic but it wasn't.
I couldn't push him. I couldn't even move an inch to step away from his arms. It's as if I was literally glued to him.
A cold shiver ran along my skin as his fingers traveled through my shoulders, shoulder blazes, and jaw. I tried to say a word, to stop him, but even my mouth seemed too dry to make a sound.
His index pulled my chin. He gently touched it while staring at me with his intense gaze. But my eyes widened when his eyes started to taint with red.
What is he?!
I looked at the others to seek help and save me from the man that appeared to be a monster that was ready to devour me but...
"W-What the hell..." I mouthed when I saw everyone having the same intense bloody gaze. Just like him, everyone looked at me as if they would attack me in no time.
"N-No!" I shouted, but no voice came out of my mouth.
He yanked my hair a bit and crouched towards my neck. He positioned his mouth on it. My hands gripped his shirt as I felt a blade graze down on my skin, drawing blood. But it was just seconds before I realized it was his fangs.
"Let's all have a toast!" He said, but enough for everyone to hear. Glasses of red liquid were raised in the air, everyone cheered with a creepy smile. I tried to push the man again, but it was too late. I felt his fangs dig into my skin without hesitation. My back arched as I felt the excruciating pain followed by a foreign pleasure that I hadn't felt before. My mouth widely opened for air as my limbs weakened as well.
What is this? He is sucking my blood. Is he...a vampire?
Before darkness enveloped me mentally as well as my vision, I saw his tongue graze his lips with red and thick liquid. Which is certainly my blood. My weak hand tried to slap him, but it just subtly touched his cheek. His eyes lit, and a grin plastered on his face as if something was amusing. Afterward, a whisper touched my ear.
"Welcome, time traveler."
