Chapter 6 ( Nightmare )

( Amelia POV ) I struggled to open my eyes, even feeling the cool wind tickling my cheek. Issac's pleasant scent touched my nose while, I lay in his strong arms. As I focused my gaze, I noticed we were finally back home. I must have accidentally dozed off in the car after the fight. "Sleep, Little Wolf. We're home." Issac's sparking eyes looked towards me, the corner of his lips turned up. My eyes closed lightly, knowing that Issac would put me safely to bed. As much as I'd like to pretend that I can move my legs, my body is still asleep. My sensitive hearing detected the sound of footsteps heading up the stairs to the second floor. Although my eyes were closed, I can recall everything around me. Finally the soft bed reached my back, although I am much more comfortable in Issac's arms. My clothes disappeared from my body and a few minutes later Issac's strong arms wrapped around me. The steady beating sounds of his heart and breathing soothed me, forcing me to finally sink into the dream world. I opened my eyes wide and my gaze drifted to the two silhouettes beside me. One of them with a dark hood standing to my left. I couldn't see his face, but the two glowing crimson eyes resembled a demon. A strange coldness came from this person making chills run down my back. He looked at me with his terrible eyes without saying a word but still they betrayed so much. Looking at him, I felt lonely, unloved and lost. It was as if all my good emotions were being stolen from me just by looking into those strange eyes. I wanted to look away, but something seemed to be holding me. Not physically, but I can feel it. I gathered all my strength and tore my gaze away from this person, and then my gaze went to the right towards the strange pale person standing under the white hood. Two white eyes were looking at me, which reminded me so much of my mother. A warmth came from this person and the corner of my lips turned up. Even though the face was hidden by the white hood I felt strange. All the good emotions came back and I seemed to feel like my true self again. The strength in my chest was building up for some unknown reason. What is it? Where am I? What is going on? I turned my gaze towards the environment I was standing in. In the middle of the forest, small white flowers were under my feet. To my left, behind a person in a black hood, I could see a path, lined with wilted flowers, leading towards a forest: dark, strange, old. Looking the other way, the forest is again, but this time the opposite, bright, with birds chirping and coloured leaves. Looking straight ahead, a strange statue stood in the meadow - one stone black and crooked and the other shining and white. The two of them joined together to form an unusual shape, but at the same time they both fit together so well. What is this place? "Where am I?" My gaze returned to the two silhouettes who didn't say a word, just stared straight at me with their strange eyes. "Time." A quiet, hushed and suspiciously calm voice sounded to my left and then a black bony hand touched my shoulder. My body stiffened and the air seemed to disappear around me. I tried to breathe in, but there seemed to be no oxygen in my lungs. Then my eyes closed, and the next moment they opened again. I looked around, and my body was covered in a cold sweat. I was sitting up in bed, at home with my hands on my chest and my heart beating like crazy. It was just a nightmare, I tried to convince myself, but it all seemed so real. My gaze drifted to Issac who was sleeping peacefully. I carefully put my bare feet on the floor and then pushed myself off the bed. The floor creaked softly, and then instantly I felt Issac's hand on mine. With one light tick his touch brought me back to bed, pulling me tightly into his embrace, his nose buried in my hair. "Sleep." Issac murmured softly in his sleep. Slowly, I released Issac's hand and slipped out of his embrace. Thirst racked my throat and my thoughts seemed to buzz like a beehive. I'll go back to bed once I've had a drink of water, with these thoughts I walked barefoot in silence through the dark bedroom. It was brighter in the corridor - the full moon shining through the balcony illuminating part of my path. I walked silently up the stairs, still wondering in my mind what this could mean. I rarely have normal dreams, I guess I should be used to nightmares by now. But this dream was different, I think I can still feel that cold bony hand on my shoulder. The beads of sweat have started to dry making my skin cool. I grabbed a glass from the cupboard and then filled it with cold tap water. As the cool liquid slid down my throat, my heart calmed down and breathing felt easier. I sighed deeply as I headed back to my destination - bed. Feet knowing the way, I was counting the steps. A white light made my forehead twist, which was behind me. Isn't that enough weirdness for one day? My gaze drifted towards the source of the light, only then I realised that it was the moon's stamp on my left collarbone. I watched as the lunar form that had been Waxing Crescent since birth filled up to become First Quarter. It became fuller than it was before and then it stopped glowing. I stood at the top of the stairs for a few moments looking at the mark on myself. What is going on here? I shook my head, trying to ignore all the thoughts that were currently attacking my groggy brain. Step by step I made my way towards the bedroom, and relieved when I was finally curled up carefully in bed. Issac was lying on the other side, and I staring blankly at the wall in front of me. Who are the two strange creatures I dreamt of? How did my birthmark change shape? Is it a warning sign? Why did everything start changing so suddenly? I have thoroughly been enjoying our life and peace that has prevailed until now. My she-wolf was spinning its wheels anxiously inside as if it sensed something bad. I trust my inner voice, but now it is time to wake up. Although I doubt my intrusive thoughts will allow me to close my eyes for another half an hour, I have no other choice. In the morning I need to tell Issac everything. Perhaps Madeline could help with this moon form? She is a witch and should have a good knowledge of the heavenly bodies and the reasons for their change. Reluctantly, my eyes closed and my mind drifted into the realm of sleep. One last thought - I hope that this time another nightmare will not disturb my sweet sleep. An early phone call forced my heavy eyelids open. A few wrinkles creased my forehead, as if demanding that this horrible sound be silenced for five minutes. I rolled onto my back, but Issac was no longer in bed. My gaze went to his firm naked tattooed back and the mobile phone attached to his ear. He was looking out of the window, and the first rays of sunlight were streaming in, heralding the break of morning. "Yes?" Issac's low voice echoed through the bedroom. I didn't want to listen to what Issac was saying, my body needed more sleep. The nightmare was to blame for the poor quality of sleep. Then there was the changing moon on my collarbone. I picked up a pillow to cover my head, hoping to block out the conversation going on in this room. Of course I failed, my acute hearing didn't miss a single word coming from the mobile phone and Issac's lips. The conversation didn't last long, letting me know that Jasper and his three participants had arrived at the college and were waiting patiently for Issac's help. "I'm sorry to wake you, sweetheart." Issac's soft voice reached my ears and then the pillow disappeared from my face. Two sparkling blue eyes stared at me, and Issac's cheeks seemed to burn with the guilt of having made me wake up. My fingers brushed his cheek, and my sleep dissipated instantly. I can't see that sad expression on Issac's face. I gently pulled Issac closer to me, rewarding him with a morning kiss. Waking up next to him every morning makes me the happiest woman. To think otherwise would be the greatest folly. "Good morning." The corner of my lips lifted and I got more comfortable in bed. "Will you come with me or will you go to bed with me?" Issac put his head on my stomach, giving me a hug and lying on top of me at the same time. His firm, warm body pressed against mine, sending pleasant shivers through my body. My fingers instantly got lost in his short dark hair, moving backwards and forwards. I know he loves it when I stroke his hair, it calms, relaxes him. For a few moments his eyes closed, enjoying the moment. "Of course I'll go with you, how can you go without your deputy? " A yawn left my lips and my hand covered my open mouth. "Did you sleep badly?" Issac reluctantly pulled away from me, his blue eyes studying my face. "The nightmare was so strange, I couldn't sleep. Two strange people made me wake up in the middle of the night, but I will tell you about that a little later. I think it's time for us to find Jasper." I took off my dressing gown and put my bare feet on the ground. "Nightmare? You've been sleeping very soundly lately. Are you really okay?" Concern sparked in Issac's eyes, and then he rose from the bed, heading straight for the closet. "It's just another nightmare with no important meaning. Although one strange thing happened after it." I walked towards my closet, mentally going over the appropriate clothes for the day. "Your mark, it's gotten bigger." Issac glanced over his shoulder as he pulled the blue shirt over his firm body. "You noticed?" My eyebrow rose in surprise and the closet in front of me was already open. I pulled a navy blue cardigan out of the wardrobe and paired it with black jeans. A white scarf would be perfect with white sneakers. I don't want to wear a dress today. I think it will be a stressful day with the arrival of the vampires and the witches. The whole day will be like a hurricane blowing through the country, with the need to rush, communicate and sort out problems. Although I think Sawyer and Lucian have taken care of the newcomers, things never work out as we plan. Covering my body with warm clothes, I turned on my heel and Issac looked at me standing nearby. His arms instantly found mine, pulling me into his embrace. Issac looks stunning as always, but he doesn't even have to try. My head rested on his chest and his steady breathing calmed me. I don't even know I'm nervous, but he notices. Sometimes I think Issac knows me better than I know myself. "I know you're feeling lost, but it's going to be okay." Issac whispered softly near my ear. His gentle fingers travelled through my long hair, calming my uneven breathing. Sometimes I feel weak, even though I hate this feeling in my chest. Although it is very rare, my mood swings have been very high lately. "I think it's time, we don't want to make Jasper nervous." I lifted my chin, looking at Issac's face. "You're right, let's go." Issac's hand found mine and we headed for the bedroom exit. A bright corridor and descending stairs lead us to the first floor. I put on my white trainers, which were placed neatly by the door. Issac opened the door before taking the car keys from the kitchen cupboard. A cool breeze blew in my face, and five steps more led us up to the garage of the house. Issac gave the door a light push and it opened slowly, swinging upwards. A press of the key and car's lights flickered to indicating it was unlocked. I took my seat, the roar of the engine waking me up further, fastened my seat belt and the car slowly drove out of the garage. "Almost everyone has arrived, although there is still one day to go." Issac's lips left an unexpected statement. "Only the witches and vampires have arrived. There are still dragons and sirens missing." My gaze went to Issac, whose face was driving the car along a narrow forest path. "Leah and Blake arrived yesterday while we were heading home. " Issac glanced at me for a moment, then returned his attention to the road ahead. "Why didn't I know that?" My eyebrow rose at the sight of Issac. "You were fast asleep, I didn't want to wake you." The corner of Issac's lips turned up. "When is Eliana coming?" A few lines creased my forehead. " Last night or latest by this morning according to the last time she contacted me." Issac turned the wheel to the right. "Worried?" My gaze returned to the woods that flew past the car window. "Yes, tomorrow is the grand opening and the gathering of all supernatural beings. My hands are shaking a little, but I have you by my side. I know that everything will be fine. There’s no alternative." The corner of Issac's lips lifted and his hand found mine. The rest of the way to the college we were silent. My thoughts worried about tomorrow. I hoped Madeline had managed to arrange the idol ball inside the college and Lucian's cottages for our guests. Even more worrying was that ill-fated mark on my collarbone. I thought it was the sign of the Moon Goddess and guardian of the supernatural. Although my inner voice now doubts whether this is true. The ringing of the phone halted my thoughts and Issac put it to his ear in one easy motion, silencing it. "Yes?" Issac's low voice echoed through the car. It's rude to eavesdrop on the conversation, but it's Sawyer directing Issac to go straight to the main hall on the third floor. I have no idea what college looks like right now. I'm convinced Sawyer and Lucian have made a very big change there for this particular tournament. I'm looking forward to seeing what it looks like from the inside. Finally, the familiar white walls of the college appeared and the car pulled up in its place on the pitch. I got out and soon I found Issac's hand. As we made our way along the narrow path, leading to the glass doors of the college, inviting us to come inside. Steps, the wide-open doors, brought us into a completely different college interior than I was used to. The first thing that struck me was the dark walls which were etched with light blue flowers. I didn't really think they were glowing blue - I think it's Madeline's work. Then my eye was drawn to a large painting hanging just outside the corridor leading to the third floor. It neatly spelled out the names of the four colleges in glittering gold letters. Flash of Light, Golden Wing, Velvet Hymn, White Fang, and below that "Welcome to Blue Moon College. I have no idea when Issac renamed the college but it fits in perfectly with the werewolf community. We walked straight towards the staircase leading to the second floor. With each step the flowers on the black walls got smaller and smaller, leaving only dark black walls. Gradually they began to increase again as we climbed the stairs to the third floor where the main meeting room awaited us. This is where the tournament meetings, vote counts, dinners and other general events will take place. "When did you change the name of the college?" My quiet voice echoed through the back stairwell. "It's a much better description of werewolves." Issac shrugged, smiling broadly. By he last step was a small door leading into a hallway. Issac's office was still visible in the darkness to the left. But on the right, the view has changed completely. The large dark blue door reminded me of the mysterious door I first opened in this college – the enchanted room my mother left me. Issac pushed the door open, and then it was like a completely different world. Yes, spells can be truly astonishing in their beauty. My first glance went to the five different tables that were set up for each of the supernatural creatures. A long red carpet stretched down the middle towards a high podium at which stood a statue with a blue moon - a public speaking platform for directors and dignitaries. On the old one a little further away, another table in bright white was reserved for the older ones. A little to the left, a glass square stand enclosed by a fence held the crown of tournament. In the light of the lamps, it shone in the most variegated colours, attracting the eye and making it impossible to look away. This is the prize of the tournament, to be won by the champion. Light blue and white colour were the dominant colours around the room, making it cosy and bright. Then my gaze went to the very back of the hall, where there was a huge glass ball glowing bright white. Probably another miracle made by Madeline to select the participants from each race. Huge chandeliers hung from the ceiling to further illuminate this large room. "Hello my dear friends." Eliana voice rang through the hall. My gaze went to the people standing in a single line. Here I saw all those dear to my heart: Madeline, Leah, Blake, Jasper, even Eliana was here. But then I realised that there was one more person standing next to them, one more representative who would be attending this event. It all happening so quickly, but it will be nice to meet new faces, names and characters. Each one of them is our ally but at the same time a friendly enemy. It all starts now: new challenges that will make your heart beat faster, dangers that will take your breath away and force you to think soberly, battles that will take your breath away, individuals and friends that will make you hesitate with your word, or perhaps attract you to them with just a look. New winds, eclipses and light. What's next? I can only guess, but my heart is racing, eager to meet everyone. The corner of my lips lifted as I took my first step beside Issac. The red carpet beneath my feet and my eyes shining as I look at who feel are lifelong friends, they have been with me in the most difficult moments of my life. After all this time, we are together again. Looking at each other, we are smiling eagerly, recognising the urge that we all want dive into deep conversations, as soon as possible. Waiting to catch up on time lost we weren't around each other.
