The silence that immediately fell on the room was deafening, and for some reason, hearing thevsteo sister that has never had anyone check her her entire life get shut down like that, it have me a but of confidence.
I adjusted my sitting position, and instead of removing my hand from his shoulder, I adjusted it better.
"As for why we are here," King Raegan continued, his voice low, his fingers slowly moving around my waist. He turned, and the door opened to usher in a tall, graceful man.
He bowed slightly, then put a paper and pen on the table and stepped backwards.
"This document officially rescinds you of the seat you were given yesterday. It also relieves you of every right, and you shall not be able to take the contests to qualify for another seat within the next forty years."
My eyes widened as I turned to King Raegan. His eyes were cold, emotionless, his hand still caressing my waist like it was nothing.
I turned to Delilah and Alpha Kyle, and both of them seemed so frozen in their spot, like they could not believe what was happening.
And it was understandable. For so long, Alpha Kyle's dream had been to have a seat at the Alpha convention. It was what drove most of his decision. The extravagant gifts he always sent to King Raegan on birthdays even though he was never invited, the way he seemed to worship a man who barely even knew he existed, the way he had cast me aside because he believed that it would be what was best for his seat at the convention.
Delilah was the first to snap out of the daze, and she immediately stood up, slightly pushing the table away from her.
"No. No, you absolutely can not do this to us, Your Majesty. You can not take the seat away. You gave it to us!"
King Raegan barely even looked her way. His eyes were fixed on Alpha Kyle, who was still frozen to his spot.
Delilah continued to yell, but it seemed like no one in the room was even hearing her.
Alpha Kyle finally looked up, and hell, it broke my heart. His eyes had reddened with tears, his fists clenched hard.
How did we get here, Kyle?
"Is it because of Elvira?" He asked, his eyes slowly settling on me.
Delilah stopped her little rant and turned to me. "Are you the reason this is happening?!"
Alpha Raegan pulled me into even closer. "Yes. I imtend to make her the first woman to take the seat, so naturally, I have to get rid of the subpar candidates. It is a pity it happened to be you, Kyle."
I was not done reeling from the shock of having Alpha Kyle thrown out of the convention, and all of a sudden, I learned that King Raegan wanted me to take the seat instead.
Before I could take it all in, Delilah apparently had.
"You f*****g wench!" She screamed at the top of her lungs.
I turned, just as she started to advance towards me.
Before she could get to me, however, Alpha Kyle covered the distance, stopping her.
"Let me go!" She yelled, her eyes wide. "That f*****g wench did this to us! She knows how important it is to us! You are just like your mother, Elvira! A f*****g wench! You do nothing but seduce men! Let me go!"
Alpha Kyle held her tight, and I just sat there, unable to think. Unable to even breathe.
I turned to Alpha Raegan, but he was watching the spectacle, his eyes unreadable.
Delilah finally stopped screaming, and she and Alpha Kyle just stood there, obviously both ashamed and scorned.
She was breathing hard, like she needed a very tiny provocation to immediately flare up again.
"Is there anything we can do? I know you want to give her the seat, but I worked hard and..."
"Are you implying that I played favorites?" King Raegan asked, his voice low.
"Your Majesty..."
"Let us assume," King Raegan interjected, leaning towards me. "That I will not punish that woman for the lack of decorum she displayed before me. Let us assume that I am as forgiving as she seems to believe."
I swallowed, and Delilah instantly paled.
"I could consider giving you the seat back on one condition."
I turned to King Raegan, but I couldn't read his expressions at all. It felt almost like he had his own personal vengeance against them. It was almost hard to believe that he would go to this length just to get vengeance for me, when he hadn't even demanded I grace his bed yet.
He removed the shoe I was wearing, then threw it Alpha Kyle's feet as he leaned back.
"Your Majesty."
"Lick it," he said, his voice low. "Show me how sincere you are."
My lips parted, and I looked up to Alpha Kyle. He looked like he was actually considering it, his lips parting as he watched the heel lying at his feet.
"Your Majesty."
"There is another option," King Raegan offered. "Sign the documents and go back home before the wrap up party officially commences."
Alpha Kyle sniffed hard, a hand slowly coming up to wipe his cheeks. "If I do this, is there a guarantee that the seat is mine?"
It took everything in me to not scream. His important was the seat that he would lick these shoes of the same woman he had discarded just yesterday? How important was the seat that he would let go of his self respect for it?
Alpha Kyle took in a deep breath and slowly started to go down on his knees, his hands reaching for the shoe.
Delilah suddenly walked forward, towering above me and King Raegan, her eyes wide.
"Is her bed game really that good?" Delilah asked, her fists clenched hard. "Or are you trying to get back at me for what happened five years ago?"
My brows furrowed as I turned to King Raegan. He was expressionless still, but I could tell that she knew what she was talking about.
"Both, sweetheart, and I haven't even gotten to you yet."
And that was when it dawned on me. I wasn't the only one using King Raegan. He was using me too.
