It's been 2 days since they were captured and on the run, Ryan and Owen killing off men that has found them, Owen, who is almost completely healed, has been mind-linking his parents letting them know the situation that has come about, wondering how Barron has had more pack members come to him, His father desperately wanting to send out their most fierce troops to come rescue them, but Owen is refusing. Ryan and Mindi have been hunting and providing the four of them, Mindi and Layla have been working on spells Layla learning more about witches heritage, Layla noticing T's distance, Ryan working hard along side of his best friend/alpha trying to figure out how to take down the one enemy. Owen and Ajax still having their inner feud with one another.

Layla's pov:

"I'm headed to the creek to refill the water bottles I'll be back soon." she says as she is picking up all the water bottles that they have gathered up, "It's still not safe, I'm coming with you." Ryan suddenly jumps up and makes his way over to Layla. Only because he knows she wants to escape them as well. "Ryan Im a big girl I can take care of myself, plus it's only like what 25 ft from us." Layla gestures toward the creek. "It don't matter, I don't need you to well you know, run off or get kidnap." he angrily says. Owen looks up and gives a questioning look to both of the siblings. Ryan looks back at Layla, "Ryan seriously I'm not going nowhere and no-one is around. I want some me time." Layla sighs. "Fine, but if I get one ounce of uneasy I'm coming to get you." Ryan says walking over to Mindi who is humming low, making some food for them. Layla looks over at Owen one more time, and walks out to the creek. "Layla, what's the plan, we can't go back and retrieve our belongings, we can't escape these people, and we have one more problem." T says sadly. Layla stops filling up the bottles and sits down. "What is it now T?" Layla says tiredly. "So, I dont know how to explain this but, once a female wolf has found her mate, her body and hormones start to I don't know like call out to her mate. and when this happens," "T FOR THE LAST TIME, HE IS NOT OUR MATE, HE DONT WANT US! Sitting there for awhile, she hears foot steps coming behind her, she didn't have to turn around to see who it was, "Layla, can I sit with you." Mindi soft voice says behind her. Layla scoots over and pats the ground. Mindi sits down, they don't speak for sometime when Layla stomach growls. Both girls look at each other and laugh. "You know Im happy that your brother has found you, I'm happy that he is happy." Mindi says. Layla sighs, and throws a rock in the creek. "I'm happy for him, and for T, her and ceaser are really happy together." Layla whispers. Mindi nods her head in agreement. "I know you don't want to talk about it or hear it but there something you need to know about mates." Mindi says slowly. frustration crosses Layla's face. Mindi holds holds her hands up in surrender. "Whoa easy girl, I'm just trying to give you a heads up, soon your body is going to go through something very dramatically, you want be able to control it, it's going to happen to me as well, prob before you since my mate." Mindi stops talking and now looking at Layla who has a sad look on her face. "Mindi, whatever it is, it's not going to happen, that wolf man back there has no desire for me, has no reason to love me, ok. so whatever it is that is driving you and T crazy about, just forget about it, T has come to terms with my descion it's best if everyone really you and Ryan do the same. It's not the first time my heart has Been broken." Layla says. Mindi just stares off at the creek, sighing and then she starts "I understand Layla I do, before Ryan, I had a mate years ago. Mindi stops and wipes away a year that fell. I didn't know what to say, I felt bad for her, she to had been rejected, but staring at her, I know her story was to help me, but honestly it didn't. Owen hasn't fully rejected me yet, if she can get threw so can I right?. "I'm not trying to make you feel more like crap but I just want you to know that it does get better, if you make it better, I think Owen is a strong, take what is his kinda man, but with you and the way he looks at you Layla, I think there is hope for the both of you, I just want you to be ready for the weeks to come when your heat hits." Mindi says slowly getting up, I stood with her looking at her questionly. "My what", I say to her, but before anything else was said, a twig breaks we both jerked our heads over the creek where the twig was snapped, and before I could say run to mindi I heard a loud sound, T jumps over on top of Mindi, then I felt a bad sting hit my side, Mindi quickly pushes me off of her, and I see a blue flame rise from her hand and she throws it at the intruder, I hear a man scream and smoke coming from the woods, I can't move in fact I'm in alot of pain, "MINDI, LAYLA" Ryan running and screaming for us, everything is going black, I hear wolves fighting, my eyes are closing, then moments I'm being lifted, I barley open my eyes and see his handsome face it's bloody, I lift my hand up to run my fingers down his face, he looks down at me, he smiles very lightly, "I'm tired of these men hurting you, I'm sorry, I'm going to get you some help I promise my love." his voice puts me to sleep

Owens pov:

I smelt the men before I could do anything, then I hear the gun shot, me and Ryan running to save our mates. watching the guy that was hiding, go up in flames I look over at Ryan who looks very impressed and proud of his women, but then Ajax growling and reaching the surface, where's Layla? then I see her laying on the ground blood coming from her side, no, no, no, she's hurt again, I mentally slap myself for not being there once again. "If you get your head out your ass, and stop acting like she means nothing to you, she wouldn't be hurt again, I told you something felt off and you didn't listen yet again." I hear Ajax in my head. "Ryan kill them all, leave me the shooter" Ryan nods and we begin once again tearing and ripping 7 men's heads off, the 8th man I found about 45 yards from us, I smiled wickedly, at first I make him run in circles, taunting him, then he cowards down once he sees me emerging from the woods. "Please my king, save me mercy, I'll give you all the answers you want. He told me to take out the white wolf he is done, he wants her head on his wall. please king, I'm sorry." The man begs and pleads which pisses me off even more I can't stand a beggar. "Shut up mutt, you just caused yourself a ticket with the devil," I say to him, I punch him one time and he goes out like a light. throwing him over my shoulder I make my way back, Ryan who had killed most of them, some got away, I see him and Mindi hovering over Layla, Ryan with tear shrink face, "Owen do something, she gonna die, wolfsbane, with arsenic coated the bullet." Ryan says, "What is arsenic?" I say. "It's a posion that is deadly to witches, somehow he found out that she is a witch or the bullet was meant for me." Mindi jumps in, she has orbs circling Layla, she's not moving, "She not hurting for now, I stop the pain, but she needs a blood transfusion now, soon the posion and wolf bane will kill her. she dosent have much time." Mindi says. Ryan who just notice the shooter that's laying cold on the ground. he gets up and walks over to him, picks him up and is holding him by the neck. I see ceaser forming, I walk over slowly and put my hand on his shoulder, "Brother, his death will be worth the wait." "No, Owen I'm done with these men hurting my sister, and almost killing my mate, it's time for war, it's time that Barron and all that is under his rule, will die." Ryan says he drops the rogue, kisses Layla on the head, and turns toward Mindi, and she just smiles sadly at him. "yes Owen your right, it's war and I will lead us to it, let's go home." I say sternly, Mindi drops her head for submission, Ryan stands there looking lost, I forget that he too is of alpha blood. I walk over and pick Layla up, electric bolts shooting threw me, she opens her eyes, hurt and relief washes over her, she too feels the bond, then her small finger creasses my face, I breath hard. "Alpha, are you sure touching her is good for the both of you"? Mindi says. "I'm never letting her go." This time Ajax answers.

Layla's pov:

beeping noises, voices mumbling

"Alpha Pierce, Luna I'm trying hard to find a answer for Layla, I don't understand why the blood transfusion is not working for her, the blood killed the poison but I can't figure out why shes not waking up, maybe she just so exhausted from all them years being there with that wicked man. I promise for her and our pack I'll find a answer." "thank you doc.", "Ryan son want you go get some rest check on your mate, Layla is safe here." no Ryan don't leave me, I thought to myself, "Tanwyn, Tanwyn where are you" I call out but all i get is silence, I start panicking which makes the beeping sound go louder, "Now now dear, if you can hear me, stay calm your safe I promise, I'm going to figure out what's wrong. Go back to sleep." I hear the voice, no I don't want to sleep I need to keep running, "Tanwyn please answer me," still nothing, i try to move but I can't, I panicked more, "Hush now dear." I hear her again before I drift off once again.

Ryans pov

Hearing the doc once again put Layla back to sleep outside her room, I quickly go back to my own room, shutting the door quietly so I don't wake my sleeping mate, I go take a shower, after moments there I lay down next to Mindi, she smiles and wraps her arms around me, "Anything new" she sleepily ask. "No, doc had to put back down again." i sigh. Mindi rubs my arm to soothe me, a mates touch eases their wolves. "It's been a week since you touched me Ryan, my heat is gone now, but I still want you." Mindi sighs.

2 weeks ago

"we're almost home, 5 miles at the most." I say out loud to Mindi and Owen who are walking beside me, I'm carrying the shooter an Owen has Layla in his arms, he hasn't let her go, I dont understand him sometimes, we about a mile into our territory, when suddenly I get a whiff of a intoxicating smell, dropping the shooter Ceaser trying to take control, what is it I asked him. "Mate" "What" I ask questionly. I look over at Owen who has stop as well, I follow his gaze and their a few feet away my whimpering mate, balled up crying, "What the f**k," I ran over to her, it hits me, Mindi is in heat. "s**t" I say out loud, "Ryan please help me, take me." she whimpers. I stand there not saying a word, Im froze, "Ryan run as fast as you can to the pack house, she in heat, soon all of our unmated males and others will soon pick up her scent, go now." Owen yells, "I can't leave Layla, or you." I say to Owen, "I have some troops coming for the shooter, I told them to wait till you got pass the main border, father is suppose to be putting all unmated males in the basement till you have her settle, go Ryan Layla is fine." I look down at Layla and back at Owen and nod, scooping Mindi up carefully I take off running, we're almost at the main border when I hear wolves howling in the distance, "Ryan, run theirs 2 wolves headed your way, their not far behind you." Owen mind-links me, I take off faster, when I smelt them closing in. Think Ryan, I look up at a tree there's room for Mindi, "Mindi I need you to help me get you in this tree, stay down and stay quiet ok my love." I say to her, she nods, I get her in a small area and she sits on the branches knees to your face, suddenly I hear a stick break, then a second later 2 young boys emerge, naked, I shake my head, "Look boys, this female is not yours, go back home." I say gruffly, they both just laugh, realizing that they probably just shifted into their wolves for the first time days ago, they don't have control, great... "As Beta of this pack I order you to go home." I say in my beta tone, nothing. the boys are stalking me like Im prey, then suddenly one boy sniffs and his face went straight up to the tree, he licks his lips, hell no I thought. "look brad she's in the tree, the other boy glances up and smirks, Ceaser on the edge of ripping these kids head off, "I said to leave." This time Ceaser voice taken over, "Over our dead body." the boy says. taking a deep breath I guess they are wanting a challenge, they begin stalking me, circling me, I laugh out loud, "Bring it on." Ceaser says, the one boy leaps in the air, turning into a brown wolf, I laugh at his size which makes him more angry, he comes down, I get up under him and sling him about a yard away, the other boy takes the opportunity and goes for the tree I rush over and grab him and slammed him to the ground, "I'm coming Ryan" I barley hear Owens link. the wolf whimpers, I prob broke his rib, I get off of him, he stands up,his eyes turn back human and his body slowly changing back, he's crying, "I'm sorry Beta I couldn't control him." "Just leave now." I say back to him, he walks off back toward the house. I hear Mindi scream,I jerked around and saw my mate naked on the ground, the brown wolf I slung is now his human self lowering his naked body onto my mate, Ceaser and I both see red, I grab the boy by the back of his neck, holding him up in the air his nakedness hung out, I feel Ceaser taking over his claws extending, I go to rip his heart out when I hear Ajax growl, looking over I see Owen standing there with Layla in his arms, "Ryan, let him go he learned his lesson." Owen says. the boy who now is crying historical, "I'm sorry Beta I'm sorry. please don't kill me." he pleaded. but ceaser wasn't happy, I was squeezing the boy harder, "Ryan let him go now." I felt Owen hand on my shoulder. I relaxed Ceaser leaving and giving me back my body I let the boy go, he bowed and then ran off. "Ryan she needs you." I hear Owen again, I pick Mindi up once again and run to the pack house, I take her to my room and quickly stick her in the bathtub, she moans loudly which makes me go rock hard. After getting Mindi clean and layed on my bed, I go to get back up to check on Layla, but Mindi pulls me back to her, "Ryan please." I softly hold her hands, "I promise love, I will help you through this, this wave is almost over, your to exhausted just sleep for now," I say to her, I lay there stroking her hair, till she fell asleep, once I knew she was asleep I head down to the hospital, I watch as our commander and another troop carry the shooter into the dungeons, I hit the hospital walking in I see my parents, my mom searching for mate, once she sees she's not here her face falls, Owens parents look at me and smile slightly. Owen standing at the far corner, I was about to speak when the doc comes in, "I need to do a transfusion now, I need to take blood to find out who is capable of her blood type." She stops talking realizing that all eyes are set on me, "There's no-one in this pack that has her blood, just do what you can, she doesn't die." Owen says. we all look at him. "Mr Pierce with all due respect, only the same blood will work, how do you know we don't have anyone?" She says low. "Owen she needs to know, that way she can help her." Owens mother chips in. The doc is just looking back and fourth, time is ticking, "Whatever, tell her." Owen says and walks out of the hospital, his father going after him. After telling doc everything,we quickly get me set up for the transfusion, about a hour later, all the poison is out of Layla's body, she still sleeping. Doc tells me she's safe here, to go get rest. That's all I needed to hear, before Ceaser growled loudly, Mindi, the witch and the doctor all bowed into submission. "HE IS GONNA DO WHAT!" I shouted so loudly, Mindi stood first trying to coax me, I jerked away and Ceaser came fourth, I'll be damned if he thinks that, weather I lose my position or my spot here at the royal pack, I don't give a f**k no more, she's been hurt enough, "Ceaser find Owen Pierce." Ceaser smirks, we set off to the pack meeting, ready to fight the most fierce alpha of all!!
