Where am I?
~Clara~
‘Madam- it’s time to rise your wedding is today.’ My head of pounding and why the hell is this woman calling me madam?
‘Who are you and what do you want?’ I ask as I try to rub my eyes and stretch. Suddenly I am very aware this is not my own body. My skin is paler than a dolls, my body is bony and doesn’t have an inch of fat, and I definitely am not this…well endowed.
‘Madam we really don’t have time for this. It’s time for your wedding. Prince Finn is waiting.’ I jump up and run to the closest mirror I can see.
Pale blonde hair, blue eyes, heart shaped face. A face that could charm millions. I’m in my book- I’m Clara. I open and close my mouth a couple times as I touch the mirror. How can this be? How the h*** did I get here?
‘Madam we really don’t have the time. Come we need to get you dressed’ I nod and go to stand in front of her…her name is Eileen- she’s my new handmaiden…and a spy for Finn.
‘Eileen what day is it?’ I ask her staring at the wedding dress in front of me
‘What a silly question, madam. It is December 16th- your wedding’ she gives me a suspicious look but goes back to trying to untangle my hair.
This is when everything started to go wrong for Clara. She spends the whole day fawning over everything and adoringly waits for Finn who doesn’t even spare her a glance. She spend the night trying to converse with him as he spends it ignoring her. Well f*** this.
‘I’m not going.’ I give her a look as she stares at me through the mirror.
‘What are you taking about madam? You’ve spent months preparing for this. You’ll get to meet and marry Finn today. Aren’t you excited?’ She looks shocked but also maybe amused?
‘I said I’m not going. We’ll watch from the tower’ I give her a look and she just blinks at me. ‘Please stop calling me madam. I’m Clara and I’m gonna need a lot of help.’ It will be a gamble trusting Eileen but I need someone on my side.
I tell Eileen everything I remember from the book. She’s startles when I mention I know she’s a spy but quickly regains composure. She doesn’t seem to believe me til I launch into a detailed account of her family and financial struggles. She still seems to struggle to want to assist me until I alert her of her tragic end. Before Finn kills me he kills her for becoming to close to me and not alerting him of my ‘plan’.
‘I still don’t see how we can change things, Clara. I’m merely a maid and you’re a princess who the prince doesn’t trust.’ I give her a wicked smile and quickly diverge the plan.
I’m going to kill him.
