Amber's Point of View
We looked at each other, while the pack of some gooey unidentified creatures by me. It growled at us acting like we are threatening their territory and that’s our fault for going inside their territory unnoticed. Like the other monsters from earlier, I really can’t identify the creatures that we are looking at right now.
“The Goo chasers,” Mirana just spoke and I looked at her. “They are a predatory pack hunter that uses their goo to catch their prey, because it’s too sticky that you can’t get out of it, but in ancient times based on this country’s history books, they are used as fuel to produce flames for the citizens here,” she added and that’s some useful information from her. The goo chasers as Mirana called it like growled at us again and we both look back at them.
“Run,” I said and we ran to escape these hostile creatures.
“Why aren’t you killing them?” she asked me again and I looked back to her.
“No,” for the second time I will not kill any creatures, if I don’t have any reason on killing them. I will not. Now that I know they are flammable, meaning that I am the worst match up for them and I can kill them easily by just producing weak embers.
“Why?” she asked me again in disbelief while we are still running away from them.
“I don’t want to kill them,” I answered her question so she will not bother me anymore with that question. Afterall it’s our fault for wandering inside their territory, they are just protecting their home or children, why would I kill them? I hope she gets that.
“Then I’ll kill them,” I was surprised with what she had said and stopped on her feet and got a lighter from one of her pockets which surprised me the most, she is really trying to kill these creatures. I don’t want them to be killed and I turned back to stop her and the goo chasers are fast coming towards her.
I shoot a low heat fire bullet to her hand and she dropped the lighter because she is attempting to throw it. I picked up the lighter to prevent it causing accidents in the future and grabbed Mirana’s hand so we can continue fleeing away from them.
I produced a pool fireball and dropped it behind us that created a pool of fire that will terrify them for a brief moment of time and put much distance as we can, but I hope that they give up on chasing us.
“What was that for?” she asked me in disbelief for what I did.
“I’m sorry,” I just apologized to her. “No killings please,” I told her so she won’t do this again. “Please,” I requested to her again when I saw her face trying not to cooperate with me.
“Okay,” she said forcefully and I look at her concerned. About the killings of creatures when they are chasing us. Maybe it’s her kind’s tradition, so I really can’t judge her that quickly right now.
“There!” she shouted at me while pointing at something and there I saw a cliff going upwards. That’s a good idea. “They can’t climb high places,” she added and that’s even more brilliant. So, we ran towards the cliff at full speed and climbed it. We saw the goo chasers from afar still not giving up on chasing us but jokes on them we are climbing the cliff. When they reached the bottom of the cliff they just looked up to us, and what Mirana said was true.
I am happy that they stopped chasing us and we continue to climb this cliff. Being in a higher area right now is what I needed so I can scout the area much clearly and determine the direction where we are going, since I am pretty lost right now, no... I am completely lost right now.
“How high is this place?” I asked Mirana when we still can’t reach the top after minutes of climbing and by now, we still can’t see the top of this cliff. This place is very high. I guess I need to toughen myself up so we can reach the top.
I took each step carefully so I won’t slip downwards all over again down to the bottom. Even I give up right now. I don’t know if the goo chasers are still waiting for us to come down. So instead of waiting I chose to spend my time productively.
“We are here!” Mirana shouted and my complaints that I am just spouting of my mouth right now, just faded completely. I looked forward and I can see the to... No this is not the place to be right now!
“That’s a nest!” I shouted at her. “COME DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW!” I added but she just shushed me not alerted by our situation right now. I wonder if this lady in front of me has ever felt fear in her life because she just proceeded towards the nest with caution.
“Shh, the mother is not here, only her eggs,” she said. “It’s safe here and we can hide from them with these thick fibers that they used,” she noted and me, I really can’t do anything right since she is on the nest now. I guess I just need to go there with here and procced on scouting the area.
I went to the top and looked over this area and from here I can see a glimpse from the cave since it’s very big and I can barely see the whole thing from here. I am so far away from it and I can’t believe that I just did that within hours.
I guess I really can do, things like this. I just need to believe in myself. I looked on the opposite side of the cave and that must be the direction that we are going. The goddess just told me to reach the opposite side of the cave and in that direction, I can see the end of this forest.
“So, we go out from there?” Mirana asked me.
“Yes,” I nodded towards her.
“Then let’s go,” she said excitedly. “I can’t wait to get out of this place,” she noted.
“Okay,” I said but I remembered something. “Wait,” I stopped her. “The goo chasers might be still down there waiting for us,” I reminded her.
“Nah, they won’t wait for that long after their prey escaped,” she said and proceeded sliding down the cliff. I face palmed myself for how reckless this lady is and I am forced to follow her down this cliff and I also slid down though this cliff because this is the fastest way going down.
“WOOOH!” I shouted when I slid at full speed. It’s fun but it is still nerve-wracking experience because I did not expect that to happen to me. I met Mirana clearing the dust off her clothes when I reached the bottom of the cliff.
“Fun isn’t it?” she asked me.
“No I won’t do that again,” I said to her shaking my head.
“You must be fun at gatherings,” she said sarcastically because of how kill joy I am. This lady is sure insensitive about others’ feeling but I just ignored it for now and we continue to walk forward straight to this direction and I really hope that I will not encounter any monsters anymore.
One more spell to go and mission complete and I will just go where the goddess is right now. I can’t wait to progress more in my training and be fully capable of protecting my friends instead of another load of carriage behind their backs.
I want to contribute something great for them and I want to prove it to them. That I am not just a child that’s been needing of their protection every time I have been caught up with accidents.
“What’s on your mind?” Mirana asked me again. I snapped out of my thoughts once again. “You are spacing out,” she noted and I just stared at her blinking.
“Oh! It’s nothing important,” I told her and I keep my focus towards me. Even she noticed. I am not good at hiding my emotions while I am thinking.
“You can tell me, I am a good keeper,” she said, even you are I am not comfortable telling others about my feelings. I am not used to things like that and when I do people says that I am being to over dramatic and they say that I can just move on and forget about it. They don’t understand me. They won’t.
“I’m good,” I rejected here offer and we moved on. If we just walk straight, we will reach the other side before the sun sets.
“You sure?” she asked again.
“Yes,” I said cheaply.
“I know that you aren’t,” she said again, she is so oblivious! I swear to God! I hate that kind of persistence because it is very annoying and that won’t help me.
“Please shut up,” I said calmly avoiding to shout at her because I don’t want to attract unnecessary attention within this forest. Speaking of unnecessary attention. I saw again the giant lizard and the Gerard appeared in front of us.
I am not in the mood to fight right now. I am near on my breaking point.
