The drive to Ruby's house was short. We could have walked by foot but Ian loved his car and he drove it everywhere—it didn’t matter if he was going just around the corner. The night air was cool when we stepped out of his car. He interlaced our hands. I smiled like an i***t and looked up at him. I was glad when I saw that he was looking at the yard filled with drunken teenagers, because he didn’t notice the stupid smile on my face. We headed inside the house.
