Chapter 14 | ST

Pagkatapos namin kumain sa garden restaurant ay nandito na ulit ako sa kaniyang 812 GTS. The bright smile was etched on my lips while looking at Cadence. He showed his boyish grin while looking darkly at me. Binaba ko ‘yung bintana at nilabas ko ‘yung ulo ko. I chuckled when I felt the cold wind hit my face and my dark silky hair was dancing in the air.

“It’s my birthday!” I shouted. Wala naman ako pakielam kasi nasa road trip na kami ngayon ni Cadence at nasa gilid namin ay puro puno at mga dahon lamang ang nakikita. “I am already 21! Whoo!”

“Come here, you little brat,” he chuckled.

With his other hand, he pulled my arm and he closed the window. Parehas kami humalakhak sa ginawa ko. I’ve never been this happy! I’m so blissful today and the fact that my happiness is very genuine. Cadence removed the sorrow, sadness, and pain inside my heart. I will not forget how he broke the shell I have been living in for the past two years.

“Where are we going? I don’t see any house here,” I said.

“We are we going to St. Augustine,” he replied. Nilingon niya ako at binigyan niya ako ng swabeng kindat. Napahagikhik ako sa kaniyang ginawa at nirolyo ko na lang ‘yung mata ko. “I’ve learned that there is an old spanish castle there. It is called Castle Otttis.”

My eyes twinkled. “So you’ll bring me to the castle?!”

“Of course, I remember when you were a little girl, you really loved fairy tales and being a princess. I was your prince before.”

“I cannot believe that this is happening to my birthday…”

“It is happening,” he stated. Mabilis niya kinuha ‘yung kamay ko na nakapatong sa ibabaw ng hita ko. I felt my heart racing when his touch sent electricity to my heart. “I will make your dreams come true. I will give the whole universe for my one and only princess in my heart.”

Inangat niya ‘yung kamay ko at dinampian niya ang halik ‘yung kamao ko. Hindi niya inalis ‘yung mata niya sa akin. His eyes were blazing fire and full of passion. Suddenly I felt that our world went slow for a moment and the background sound went on mute except for our heartbeats. Both of our hearts were beating in the same rhythm.

Bj never made me happy like this. Only Cadence who made me feel all of these. And I realize that I deserve all of this. And I was still bewildered by the foreign beat of my heart to another man.

Mayamaya’y nakarating kami sa Castle Otttis here in St. Augustine, Florida. There are two guards who look like they are from a fairy tale story. My mouth gasped when my eyes watched the old castle. It was built from stone rock and there’s a huge cross on the top of huge doors.

An old butler approached us with a huge smile on his face. Huminto kaming dalawa ni Cadence at tiningnan ko siya. He was standing beside me like a dangerous beast and when you look at him it screams wealth.

“Good afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton. Welcome to our castle and her dress is ready in her room. The housemaids will help her to wear her ball gown,” the butler said in a formal tone.

Napakurap ako sa narinig ako. Ayos na sana ‘yung sinabi niya pero narinig ko na Mrs. Hamilton daw ako? I was about to protest when he grabbed my arm and we went inside the castle. The hell! He is my uncle! Mukhang natutuwa pa si Cadence sa naging reaksyon ko!

Nang makapasok kami ay nawala ‘yung inis ko na makita ko ‘yung kabuuan ng lugar. Every window has a painting of God. Tapos nakangiting lumapit sa akin ‘yung mga housemaid at tinuro sa akin ‘yung guest room. s**t! Hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala na nandito ako. So ganito pala itsura ng totoong castle, huh?

Until my eyes drifted on a glamorous dress. It is indeed the most beautiful gown I’ve ever seen. I am so excited to wear it. The two housemaids lift up the heavy dress from the mannequin.

Nang maisuot sa akin ang isang dress. Hinarap nila ako sa human mirror length at hindi mawala sa mukha ko ang pagkamangha. Hindi ko alam ano ginawa ni Cadence paano niya nagawa ito para sa akin! As I looked at the mirror, I was wearing a sky blue gown with a sheer cloth that is etched with white roses on it. Gawa naman sa tahi ‘yung mga dahon na pagkaka dugtong-dugtong mga rosas na design sa dress ko.

The housemaids made me wear a petticoat to give it its balloon tail. It is off shoulder as the housemaid tied my hair with flowers on the braid. It was a bit messy, but it actually gives a beautiful princess.

“I think you are ready, your sire. We will lead you to Prince Cadence,” the housemaid beamed.

Naglalakad lang kami papunta sa pinaka malawak na greenfield. Hanggang sa nakita ko may nakatalikod na lalaki. Ang dalawa niyang kamay ay nasa likod niya at pinagmamasdan niya lang ‘yung malapit na river.. There was a group of ducks floating on the river.

“Princess Kyla is finally here!”

The time began to play slowly. Dahan-dahan siya lumingon sa akin at halos makita ko ang pagkamangha sa mukha. I know right! I was, too! The edge of his lips lifted up as his snobbish eyes darted on me. I giggled as I stood in front of him. I bowed curtly at him like a disney princess.

“Hello, my princess,” he said huskily. He slowly took my hand and kissed my knuckles without breaking his eye contact.

“You’re handsome,” I commented.

Iniwas ko ‘yung tingin ko. I felt my cheeks become crimson red. Nahihiya ako sabihin ‘yun sa kaniya at nanatili pa rin ang pagkapula ng pisnge ko. Nakakainis naman kasi! Bakit ba ako kinakabahan sa kaniya?

His prince outfit looks like Prince Eric. It is colored white with a gold chain on each shoulder blade. He left his messy hair which made him look like a sexy prince. Masyadong nag-aalab ang kaniyang mata sa akin.

Hinawakan niya ‘yung pisnge ko at namilog mata ko nung hinalikan niya pisnge ko. Mas lalo nagwalaan ang mga paru-paro sa aking tiyan. Nanatili pa rin malapit sa mukha ko ang kaniyang mukha rin. Sobrang nakakapanglambot ‘yung paraan nang pagtitig niya.

“I have another gift for you, Kyla Adrianna,” he whispered.

Bahagya siya lumayo sa akin at naglakad siya papunta sa likod ko. The old butler went to him and gave him a velvet box. I think it is jewelry! Oh my God! Pinagmasdan ko lang ‘yung kalangitan na kulay asul at mga puting ulap ay masama na naglalakbay sa himpapawid.

And I already felt the cold diamond necklace on my neck. Mabilis ko hinawakan ‘yun at puro diamond nga ito. Napalunok ako ng ilang beses at napapaisip kung magkano lahat ang ginastos ni Cadence para sa akin.

“I love you, baby,” he added.

My heart was painfully punching my chest like wanting to escape from its prison. Ang kamay ni Cadence ay nasa magkabilang braso ko. He rested his chin on my shoulder blade and hugged me from behind. I shut my eyes and felt his wonderful embrace.

“Thank you so much, Cadence. I am very sincere to have you in my life.”

He chortled. “You’re always welcome, my spoiled brat.”

“I’m not a brat anymore. I am earning my own money now and I’m already a grown up woman.”

“I can see that,” aniya sa mababang tono. Nakaramdam ako ng matinding kilabot sa sistema ko dahil sa kaniyang boses. “But you will always be my baby brat.”

“I’m not a baby!”

“Yes you are. My one and only baby…”

Hinalikan niya tuktok ng ulo ko. Humaba lalo ‘yung nguso ko sa kaniyang sinabi. Sobra ko na appreciate na espesyal ako sa kaniyang puso. Lalo na iba ang trato niya sa ibang babae kaysa sa akin. He always treats me like an exceptional and beautiful princess to him. Sobrang suplado niya sa ibang babae katulad ni Zora.

Kaya ang ginawa ko ay mabilis ko siya sa hinalikan sa pisnge at tumakbo. He was stunned for a brief time. I gave my playful smirk.

“Habulin mo ako!” I laughed.

He chewed his bottom lip. “Run fast as you can, I will catch you!”

Nagsimula kaming maghabulan sa mawalak na greenfield. Nakangiti ang mga housemaids at ang butler habang pinapanood kami. Mabuti na lang ay tinanggal ko ‘yung heels ko kasi mas dama ko ‘yung malalambot na damo sa paa ko. Parehas kami umikot ni Cadence sa isang malaking puno hanggang sa binuhat niya ako. Napatili ako ng sobra dahil hiniga niya ako sa berdeng damo.

“I told you I’ll catch you, brat,” he said while grinning like an evil beast. Mabilis siya pumaibabaw sa akin at bahagya niya tinagilid ‘yung ulo niya habang hinahanggin ‘yung messy hair niya. “You will never run away from me, huh.”

I chuckled. “Lock me in your room, then!”

“Huwag mo ako hinahamon.”

It was already 6PM and we are still here in the greenfield. We have a lampshade on our side. May nakalatag na picnic mat na kulay pula at puti. May flower vase at kandila sa tabi namin. Parehas lang kami nakahiga ni Cadence habang pinagmamasdan ang takipsilim.

“The night is very beautiful,” I commented.

Si Cadence ay inuunan niya ‘yung dalawang braso niya. Habang ako kahit naka long gown ay nagawa ko humiga. Nilingon ko siya at pinagmasdan ko ‘yung side view niya. Mas lalo na depina ‘yung hugis ng ilong niya at panga niya na kanina pa umiigting.

Tapos tiningnan ako ni Cadence. “Yes it is…”

“Ang sarap pala maging prinsesa ng ilang oras. Akala ko nung bata ko ay hanggang akting lang tayo pero nagagawa talaga natin ngayon.”

“I was your only choice since Kyle doesn’t want to play with you.”

“He said that it was lame and boring.”

He smirked. “But it will never be boring when it comes to you.”

My lips curved with a smile. Ilang oras lang kami nakahiga sa picnic mat at pinagmamasdan ‘yung kumikinang na bituin. Cadence beside me is shining like a luminous moon above us. As if the moon is giving us a blessing again for my birthday. To give hope in our hearts.

Kahit gaano man kadilim ang mundo, may mahahanap pa rin tayo na kakaunti na liwanag para magpatuloy. Kaya nagpatuloy ‘yung buwan sa itaas kasi binibigyan siya ng maliit na liwanag mula sa mga bituin.

Kinabukasan ay nagising kaming dalawa sa kaniyang mga pad. Sobrang gaan ng pakiramdam ko na nagising na naman ako ngayong umaga. Pumikit muna ako ng saglit at dinadama ‘yung puso ko. I feel like I’m on cloud nine and I am still shocked that I went to a castle and lived as a fairy tale.

I became his princess and it still felt surreal.

Tumayo na ako at binuksan ko ‘yung kurtina. Bumungad sa akin ang mga skyscrapapers at ang malapit na beach. Napanguso ako mukhang balik na naman ako sa realidad. Princess Kyla is finally over. The marketing manager has finally taken over. Mukhang may masaya na naman akong ikukwento kay Zora sa naganap sa birthday ko.

Magt-trabaho ka na ulit Kyla. Kailangan mo ulti magfocus sa work mo at medyo nalalapit na rin ang pasko. I was wondering if I could surprise my family in the BGC. Alam ko na gustong-gusto na nila ako makita at mayakap. At nagbibigay rin ng udyok sa akin na umuwi dahil sa baby ko pang pamangkin na hindi ko pa nasisilayan.

I smiled. I was wondering if Kuya Kyle was smiling up in heaven. Was he proud of me? Did he miss me? Did he miss his family? Huminga ako ng malalim at parang may humaplos sa puso ko na naisip ko na binabantayan ako ni Kuya Kyle.

I heard my phone beeped. Mabilis ko tiningnan ‘yun at nakita ko ‘yung message sa akin ni Veronica. Mabilis na nagsalubong ‘yung kilay ko sa aking nabasa.

Diba your boyfriend is Brian Justin? I think I saw him with a woman in a club. I’ll send you a picture. Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m concerned.
