What happened when I told him about Vaibhav? I tried to remember. We were at Chaupati, Mumbai, enjoying Paav Bhaji. A vendor came to me and asked if I wanted to see Shahrukh’s bungalow.
“Do you want to see it?” He asked me.
“Nah, I would like to enjoy my Paav Bhaji. This is delicious.”
“Do you know how many girls want to see him?”
“I know, and at a point in time, he was my favorite actor. But now, I am neutral.”
“Why?”
“I don’t know. I guess I got busy with my studies.”
“What else were you interested in, before you got busy.” He chuckled and I started thinking.
“Umm. I was an active participant in all the extra-curricular activities back at my school. I used to participate in sports, and dance. I was very famous.”
He shifted a bit. “I bet everyone wanted to be friends with you.”
“Yeah. They were. But I had selected friends. Vishal, Vaibhav, Megha”
“You were friends with boys?” He stopped me in between.
“Yes. Why?”
“Did anyone, you know, I mean… propose you? I mean you were famous and you look beautiful.”
I blushed at his compliment. So, he thinks I am beautiful.
“Yes. Vaibhav proposed to me. When I was in the first year he said he liked me and in the third year he said he loves me.”
The look in his eyes changed. “He said I like you in the first year and you kept on talking to him? For 3 years?”
“No, I didn’t talk to him for 3 years. I stopped chatting with him in the first year, but then in the third year, I thought maybe he was joking. So I started …”
He stopped me again. “No guy jokes when he says he likes you. Maybe you missed him in your third year and that’s why you started talking.”
“What? No. I didn’t miss him. I really thought he was not serious. He was sending the messages that it was a prank, he didn’t mean it, he was sorry.”
“And why was he saying all this. If this was just a joke, why did it matter so much to him that he was trying to talk to you.”
“Because we were friends.”
“And was he? Your friend, I mean. Was he not serious when he said he loved you in the third year?”
I nodded silently. “I didn’t know. But then he started saying all that and at first, I tried to ignore him, I told him that I would never say anything back to him.”
“Why were you talking to him, if it didn’t matter?”
“Because I didn’t want to lose a good friend. We were friends since”
“It doesn’t matter. A guy can never see a girl as a friend if he starts liking her.” He was looking angry now.
“Rudra, I don’t know about him, but for me, he was never more than a friend. And I am marrying you, aren’t I? I said I Love You to you, didn’t I?”
He looked back at me. “What if you said it to him as well?”
“What are you talking about?”
He just shook his head and started walking. I was confused as hell. I was telling him everything honestly and he was getting angry. Why?
Was it wrong to tell him? No, I should not hide anything from him. We are about to get married. I stood up and started walking behind him.
“Rudra?”
He didn’t look at me but stopped.
“Oh my god, you get angry so fast. How am I going to handle you?”
He looked back at me this time and pulled me towards him. “I have an idea.”
He took me to a pub where he ordered cold drinks for both of us.
“You don’t drink?”
“I drink, but occasionally. What about you?”
“Nope.”
“Do you want to try?”
“No chance. I have seen movies. How funny everyone looks when they are drunk. I like myself the way I am.”
He chuckled and we sat on the side. There was music and I started to tap my feet.
“Do you want to dance?”
I said yes and we both moved to the dance floor.
We danced for some time when I felt his hand on my waist. I looked into his eyes and he was looking with all his emotions.
He leaned a bit and whispered in my ears. “Please let me kiss you”

I shook my head realizing I was saying too much to Rohit. I was not ready to share the details. I wasn’t comfortable.
“It’s ok. But didn’t you notice how he reacted when you told him about Vaibhav?”
“I thought he was being possessive.”
“You know what your second mistake was?” I looked at Rohit who was sitting at his table.
“Did you like Vaibhav?”
“No.”
“Then why did you go to talk to Rudra when it wasn’t your mistake. It boosted his ego. The moment you went to him, he knew that you would always come to say sorry.”
“I thought he was angry.”
“He was, but it was wrong of him. You should have been the one to get angry if you weren’t at fault. He didn’t trust you. Simple.”
He was right. I should have noticed this. He didn’t trust me that day.
“I got scared that he would break the engagement.”
“It would have been better, don’t you think? I mean, in the end, he did break the relation.”
“I tried so hard.”
“I know, you must have. But what did it give you? Scars on your soul?”
I sniffed and he stood up. “I am calling your brother-in-law and your father. I think this should be enough for today. I just wanted you to see things clearly. If you don’t want, we will not file a case, but please don’t give up the fight even before you start it. You don’t know the person in front of you deserves your forgiveness or not.”
He took out his mobile and typed a few letters.
“And one more thing, please try to remember anything that can help us. Any communication with your neighbor, friends, your daughter’s teachers, anyone. And don’t forget, he raised his hand on you in front of your daughter. You don’t do that to someone you love.”
He left the room and I was once again alone with the thoughts.
Rudra, the only person in my mind.
He leaned into my neck and I faced him.
“Please let me kiss you.”
I looked into his eyes and he was closing them and leaning in at the same time. I closed my eyes and he landed his lips on mine. Gosh! It was a sensation I would never forget.
My whole body felt the tingles and the hairs on my neck stood up in excitement. He started moving his lips and I followed his lead. He pulled back and looked into my eyes once again. “Can I touch you?”
I didn’t say anything but didn’t deny it as well. He pulled me once again and his hand was now on my waist. He moved my top a little and his hand was caressing the curves on my waist.
We were both out of breath pretty fast and he was now breathing hard. He pulled my hand and took me towards the elevator. We stepped inside and the moment it closed, he pushed me to the wall and started kissing me roughly. His body was grinding against mine and I knew he was hard.
“Sonali, I want to do so many things to you.” He once again claimed my lips and the next moment we were on the terrace. I noticed it was kind of a make-out spot. Everyone was busy. I blushed and he pulled me towards him.
I was once again in his arms and his hands were now on my ass, squeezing them a little. Slowly he started moving them towards my shoulder and then he held my left breast. I gasped and he groaned inside my mouth.
“F**k.” He squeezed it so lightly and started playing with the n*****s over the cloth. My body was reacting to his touch, but I was scared at the same time. A few seconds later, he pulled back
“I think we should stop now, or I won’t be able to stop myself. I need a cold shower or a stroke.” He winked and placed a quick peck on my lips. I buried my head in his chest and felt him chuckling.
I sobbed hard realizing I gave him my everything and this wasn’t new for him. He wasn’t a virgin, he was involved with someone else. There was another girl before me.
Those kisses were felt by someone else before me. I wiped my face when I heard a knock and Rohit entered with my father.
“Let's go Sonali. Thanks, Rohit, we will come next week to meet you again.”
“Sure, and be sure to bring those bank statements and medical records, if you can find any.” They shook hands and we came out to go back to Jaipur.
