Rachel
The feeling of satisfaction and the heat generated from the muscled arm laying across my midsection woke me up from a beautiful slumber.
I stretched and I paused in the middle of my stretching.
I looked around and I saw that I wasn't on my bed. I was not even in my room or house for that matter.
My body unconsciously went into a fight or flight mode as I looked around warily.
Soon, all the memories of yesterday poured into my mind like a tsunami.
A red blush climbed up from my cheeks to my ears and neck.
I cleared my throat a little.
"You are awake?" A deep voice asked and I turned around to meet the dark eyes of the man next to me.
Chase's gaze was as intense as the day before.
The mild ache between my legs was a glaring reminder of what had happened.
I felt like a high school girl in front of her crush.
I broke off eye contact and stared at the white headboard behind him.
Chase had sat up.
The white bedsheets pooled around his waist.
I hummed as an answer to his question.
His naked upper body drew my eyes like a magnet.
"Like what you see?" His baritone voice asked and the blush on my cheeks turned into a deeper shade of red.
I didn't think it was possible but Chase was breaking all my lines and boundaries.
"What kind of question is that? Is it not just a chest and torso?" I argued to save my dignity that had been challenged by the embarrassing blush on my cheeks.
Chase's body wasn't just a chest and torso to me. He was special.
"If it is just a chest and torso, why are you not looking into my eyes then?" He asked with a eyebrow raised.
I stared into his eyes to prove him wrong.
"Let's freshen up." Chase said before getting out of the huge bed.
I stood up too.
The moment my feet touched the floor, I staggered.
The ache between my legs didn't seem intense until I got up to walk.
I had truly let a beast ravage me.
Chase seemed more like the victim of Patricia's scheme than I did.
It was like he was in drugs.
Thankfully, Chase was his own boss. He was able to give me a few days off when he saw my condition.
We freshened up.
Chase's maid served us a bountiful breakfast.
"Hello, Chase Williams speaking." Chase said.
A call had interrupted our breakfast.
I was already full too so I dropped my cutlery to focus on the man of my dreams.
Chase's face became tense before he abandoned his food. He rose to his feet.
He came to my side and dropped a brief kiss on my right cheek.
"I will see you later. I have an emergency to attend to." He stroked my hair as he spoke.
I could see that he wished to stay with me for a longer period. Still, real life happens.
Not everyone get what they wished for.
I was sad that I could not spend this honeymoon phase with him. I understood that he had to work though.
I smiled at him.
I held the hand that stroked my hair before dropping a kiss on it also.
"Go and do your job. It is not like this is the last time we would see each other." I said before I stood up too.
"Let me drop you at home." He said as he wore his suit jacket.
He was only in a white shirt before.
I frowned, "Won't that inconvenience you?"
"It won't. Let's go." Chase reassured me.
I wore one of Chase's shirts and a trouser that could fit me.
I knew Chase was in a hurry so I did not want to disturb him unnecessarily.
I packed the clothes I wore yesterday and dashed out of the house.
I slipped into the backseat of the black limousine.
Chase was sitting there. He was going through something on his tablet.
There was silence permeating everywhere.
However, it wasn't an awkward silence. It was a comfortable one.
We got to my house and I alighted.
Chase stared at me with soft eyes, "I will see you later."
I nodded before I entered my house.
My mother was sitting at the living room. She was watching a romantic comedy.
Nothing can be hidden from her.
The moment I entered the house, her head whipped in my direction.
She gave me a once over and she stared at my casual clothing.
It wasn't the clothes I wore yesterday.
It did not help that I been unreachable last night.
I was battling with the drugs in my system then. I had no time or concentration to call my home.
"Rachel, where have you been? None of us could get through you yesterday." My mother said as she stood up.
The romcom she was watching was forgotten like an expired jar of fruit jam.
I did not wait for her to walk to me, I went to meet her instead.
I sat in the chair.
A relieved groan slipped from my lips.
My mother sat back down.
"Why were you unreachable yesterday? Something could have happened to you and we would not be aware of it." She scolded with her eyes glistening, "Do you know how worried I was? How worried our family was? We only knew that you went to work."
I felt guilt rise up within me.
Me going off the grid for a few hours wasn't my fault. I wasn't even in a sober state. Still, I felt a little guilt when I thought of how I had out my family through stress and worry.
"I am sorry for causing you to worry." I apologized.
I dropped the bag holding my dirty clothes beside the sofa.
"It is our job to worry. All I want to know is where you have been." My mother said as she wiped her eyes.
She did not let the tears fall.
I knew that I would not be able to get out of this one easily.
I had to tell her a little truth.
I took a deep breath, "I was drugged."
