Blood and crimson red.
~ELIZABETH
I was running.
My heart hammered hard against my chest. My breathing was heavy and becoming shortened. My body trembled with shock and adrenaline. My wolf danced madly in my chest.
A deadly creature was after me and the strong metallic scent of blood lingered in his aura. He had drank enough blood to be able to chase me up until this point without giving up.
The woods were dark and the only form of light was the moon, looking down at me, perhaps shaking its head in disapproval at my actions.
I had brought this upon myself. I should not have been here. I should have being in the safety of my home, basking in the warmth of my mate, drinking in his hot sweetness. But no, I chose to come out here and cause trouble at a vampire club.
The world we lived in today was no longer in the dark about the supernatural creatures that roamed the earth. Werewolves, humans and vampires lived amongst themselves; having territories to differentiate each creature.
Yet not all werewolf clans had accepted to call it a truce with the vampires. The Crescent Moon pack— my pack was one of such clans. Mated to the Alpha— Jameson Wolfe, I felt that it was my duty as future Luna to wipe out the vampires from our pack.
So here I was, running because my life depended on it. I had been wounded since I was stupid enough to think that I could attack their club alone.
Suddenly, crimson glowing orbs appeared in the trees before me and I froze. My heart skipped a beat and my wolf came to a standstill.
Instantly, I felt as if a whoosh had passed me and in the split second of blinking, I was met with the beholder of the crimson eyes right before me. His hand grabbed my neck in a flash and we glared at each other.
"Going somewhere, little wolf?" He demanded in a cold voice. His entire mouth was stained with blood and I could tell that he had enjoyed feeding on the unsuspecting human.
My wolf immediately acknowledged the threat and pushed forward to seize the control reigns from my human form. In a swift action, my bones began to c***k, light brown fur shot out of my skin and my wolf came out into the world with a fierce roar.
The vampire swiftly got out of the way as I sent a strike at him. I thought I had a chance but he was insanely fast. Before I realized what was happening, the battle had come to an end. The vampire sank his sharp fangs into my neck, drawing out blood from my body.
Pain that felt like a thousand thorns prickling my skin erupted from my body and I let out another roar before shifting back into my human form.
The vampire moaned as he drank my blood and I cried out again. My body began to go weak as I felt all the blood leaving me.
Just when I thought that it was finally over for me, I heard the sound of approaching footsteps. This startled the vampire and in a flash, he was gone, like he never existed.
I lay still on the forest grounds, all hope lost and waiting for death to take me. Eventually, it came, like a cold darkness and I lost consciousness.
My eyes flew open and I shot up into a sitting position with a scream. I was immediately wrapped into a hug. The scent of lavender hit my nose at that moment.
"Hush, you're fine now. No one is going to hurt you," I heard the soothing voice of my mate tell me. His hand patted my back and I felt safe in his arms.
"Why did you go out, Elizabeth? What were you thinking? If my men did not show up on time, those slimy and cold blood sucking creatures would have found you and worse, killed you," he muttered.
I slowly broke free from his embrace and stared at his brown eyes before moving it to the tattoo on his forearm. I noticed that it had turned dark from its usual blue, contrasting on his dark brown skin. I had never understood the phenomenon either. Perhaps because he was an Alpha, he had a tattoo that changed colors at night.
Yet as I stared at him, I felt my wolf twist as a new presence came alive within me, demanding for something that was too morbid and insane for me to even think of.
I wanted his blood.
The realization struck me hard and I needed to send him out of the room, due to the fear of hurting him.
"I want water. . ." I muttered.
He nodded. "I'll send a maid to get it for you," he announced and was about to call for a maid when I stopped him.
"I want you to get it, Jameson. That special water mixture you always make me," I requested in a small voice.
Jameson reluctantly got to his feet. "Somethings I do for love," he muttered as he walked away.
The moment he left the room, I stopped holding back all the urge. My fingers began to tremble violently and when I looked down at it, crimson layered claws were exiting them. I flinched back at them and my eyes fell on the mirror to my left.
I froze at my reflection, my once blue eyes were glowing a crimson color, just like the vampire back there.
"What have you done to me? What is happening to me?" I muttered shakily.
My heart began to pound and I suddenly felt starved. My wolf churned and my insides burned with bloodlust. I tried to resist it but I could not. It was eating at me, burning me and tearing me apart. I felt as if I would lose my mind if I did not get blood soon.
So without thinking, I jumped out of the window and ran through the quiet streets in a frenzy. My mind was going insane and my intake of breath became painful. I felt as if I was dying and the only way to save myself was to get that blood.
Luck shone on my side when I stumbled into a building that had a sleeping child. I stood in the shadows of the boy's room, he could not have been over seventeen years. I knew that my eyes were glowing as I hungrily watched him.
The pounding of my heart accelerated and I swallowed bile. My wolf was fighting with this new cold presence within me. My wolf did not want me to take the boy's blood but the cold presence within me was growing insatiable. All it wanted was for me to take a bite.
Somehow, my legs began to move toward it. I tried snarling at myself to snap out of it but I could not stop. I reached the boy and was about to grab him when cold hands stopped me and slammed me into a tree outside the room.
I was met with the same glowing orbs of the vampire who turned me.
"You!" I exclaimed. "You cold blood sucking bastard!" I screamed.
The vampire laughed. "You're not any better yourself. You're one of us now!" He stated and went back to laughing.
My heart sank into the pit of my stomach as my mind began to replay everything that had happened since I woke up. I turned a shocked gaze at the vampire and shook my head in denial.
"Never! I refuse to be a vampire!" I screamed and ran out of the room.
My heart hammered violently as his laughter echoed in my head. How did this happen to me? How could I be a vampire when I was already a wolf?
Worst of all, what would become of me when my mate— Alpha Jameson finds out that I have become one of the slimy blood sucking creatures?
