I use my elbows to pick myself up, but Adrian pushes me back to the ground. “No, stay where you are. You could be seriously injured,” he tells me sternly. I look at him like I’m seeing a ghost. How is he up on his feet when everybody else is struggling to get up from the ground? “How are you completely fine? What … Did you pull me away from the door?” I ask, knowing fully that my question sounds ridiculous. He was standing at the back of the group, there’s no way he could’ve pulled me away from there in time. Suddenly, I hear voices coming from the door. The door that just exploded in my face. He doesn’t answer me. He gets up, saying: “Stay here, I’ll take care of this.” I panic. He’s unprotected and unarmed, I can’t let him go there! I try to get up, but it feels like my body is buried
