Chapter 3

Alex's POV

I vowed to hunt Adrianna for what she did.

I returned inside angrily,"WTF were you doing when Adrianna was attacking Selena?" I lashed my anger at my beta but he just stood there speechless

I'll make sure I deal with you later.

" Selena......"I called in surprise.

I'm really surprised to see her sitting on my bed all healed up, but she looks terrified and sad.

" You actually saved me from her" she asked in tears, as if she couldn't believe what happened.

" Yes, I'll always protect you from anyone who wants to hurt you", I promised her cupping her jaw and cleaning her tears with my hand.

" No one has ever stood up for me....my father.....my father.......my father........" She shuttered with sobs and I had to hug her to calm her down.

I felt her body go still when I hugged her and I wonder why

" It's all okay now" I whispered against her cheeks, caressing her hand while taking in her scent as much as I can

This feeling is new and strange. I've never felt like this with any woman, not even with Adrianna. Well, we're not lovers, she's literally forcing herself on me all these while and she had the guts to hurt my mate.

I'm gonna deal with her for that..

Selena's POV

I was surprised I healed so fast. Was it because my mate stood up for me?

Yes, I think that's the reason. No one has ever stood up for me.

It hurts..but I think things are about to go well now.

All I just need to do now, is to make sure I fall in love with Alex soon so that I can have my first kiss to regain my power back.

" My body went still when he hugged me. No one has ever hugged me before. It feels strange"

" I feel my heart skip beats occasionally and I don't know the reason"

" I really felt awkward hugging so I pretended to fall asleep to avoid the moment."

" He placed me down gently and removed the hair that covered part of my face and I swear I heard him chuckle"

" You really look beautiful when you pretend to sleep"

" What?" I thought, and opened my eyes.

" Got you" he screamed and I smiled.......

For the first time in my life I smiled...I thought as tears escaped from my eyes.

Adrianna's POV

" I was shocked when Robert announced our wedding date was to be in three days."

" Ahh....I think I know what he's trying to do,he wants to trap me so that he won't lose me to Alex when we finally get our revenge."

" I need to avoid this, I only want to use him to get Alex to myself. I don't care if Robert loses his life in the process, how do I go about this?"

I felt my body go still as Robert cupped my chin from behind.

" Are you surprised darling" he asked, more of a statement.

" Give me a chance to prove my love for you" he said, moving closer to me. I could feel my breathing increasing.

" Hey, don't tell me I have this effect on you? He asked, teasing me, and I blushed when I realized I was staring at his lips all these while.

" I can't wait to have you " he said, cupping my head with one hand and wrapping the other hand around my waist, pulling me closer.

" I think we should extend it, it's too early for us to get married" I said, pulling away from him gently.

" Why, I thought you wanted me too," he objected.

" Uhmmm, OMG I can't really think well right now, I'm still in shock and I need time to heal my wounds" I shuttered, praying inwardly .

"Your wounds shouldn't be a hindrance" he replied, brushing my hair aside and I gasped immediately, his hand touched my injured face.

" OMG I'm so sorry" he apologized, retreating.

" It's okay, I'll extend the day but.." he said, trailing his words, and my face lit up in excitement.

" But..?" I asked, waiting for him to finish his statement.

" I won't take any revenge on Alex or his mate" he replied.

" Okay, I'm okay with that" I said, sucking my lower lip.

I could see the lust lingering in his eyes as his eyes wandered around my body.

I think I know what to do.

Time to act, I thought as I walked back in without waiting for him, thinking about my plans to deal with both Alex, Selena and Robert.

Alex's POV

" Are you okay", I asked Selena and she almost jumped out of her skin.

I wonder why she's always afraid.

" Are you ready to talk to me now?" I asked her and I noticed she was already crying.

" It's okay, I'll leave now. Let me know when you're ready to talk" I said, feeling pissed already.

Can't she do better than crying every time?

" Alex" she called softly.

Wow, this is the first time I'll be hearing her voice and I calmed down immediately.

" Selena". I called her too, unconsciously, and then suddenly I felt dizzy.

"Selena, Selena, Selena...." I kept calling and I could hear my voice echoing in my head.

" What's wrong with me " I growled, my wolf trying to break free. I could hear my bones cracking.

" Selena?" I called slowly, just enough for me to hear before I became unconscious.

Selena's POV

I couldn't control my emotion when Alex asked me to tell him about myself. He has been asking me the question since he fought with Adrianna and I think Adrianna was the reason he wants to know, but I've not gotten the chance to tell him as I always go emotional every time I want to talk about it, but don't judge me, it's quite said and pathetic

I knew Alex had gotten angry and fed up at the behavior I usually pull anytime he asks me the question" Alex". I called him almost like a whisper, but immediately I called him. His expression changed.

" Selena...... Selena.... Selena..." He kept calling me and I suddenly grew afraid, he was calling me as if he would lose me anytime soon and I didn't want that.

He's the only one who has made me smile, even though it's not been long since we met. He made me feel alive and I'm beginning to like him, probably because he makes me feel special and I feel my heart skip beats whenever I'm with him.

" Ahhh" he suddenly growled, his wolf trying to break free,his bones cracking and even a blind man would know that he was in pain.

" Alex?" I called fearfully

I'm really afraid of losing him, what could happen to him. I wished I could save him, but I didn't have any power.

"Help!" I shouted, terrified by what was going on.

" What's happening here?" a man entered,who turned out to be the man Adrianna ordered to stay outside while she killed me. I don't really know the details, but I know she must have threatened him for him to stay put.

" It's............ it's.........Al.....Ale.....Alex" I shuttered. I was already sweating

He ran inside and felt his pulse before looking at me. I can swear ,he thought I was the one who hurt him, but judging from the way he looked back at Alex, then at me , he knew I couldn't do anything to hurt Alex because I'm a weakling, of course I am!

"He'll be fine " he said, and, and carried and dropped him on the bed while I stood in front of him crying bitterly.

"I'll be outside" he announced and stepped outside and I wondered why he did.

" Won't he help him" I wondered, and sat by the end of the bed holding his hand, still crying.

" Ale.....Alex?" I called as I saw him groan and open his eyes.

" You're awake" I said , still holding his hand, but this time I wasn't crying again but grinning widely.

I felt my heartbeat increase the moment he smiled back. I think I love him. He lifted his head slowly, looking at my lips, closing his eyes slowly, hands cupping my chin.

I closed my eyes too, getting ready for what was about to happen. I can't believe I'll be having my first kiss right now. I can't wait for it and the best part? I'm gonna get my power back immediately after the kiss

Our lips were just an inch away from each other when Alex stopped and I opened my eyes.

" Adrianna?" He called and I gasped.

" Adrianna?" I asked. Suddenly, he jerked up, throwing me off balance in the process, and I hit my butt on the floor.

" Ouch that hurts! " I winced in pain.

" Who are you?" He asked.

" Where's Adrianna?" he yelled and I felt my soul leave my body at that moment.
