Jamie
"Hi bro, how was yesterday for ya?" Ivan teased the minute he saw me.
"Good morning and it was fun". A smile played on my lips as I answered, and I could see Ivan smirk from the corner of my eye. I shut my locker closed and asked him how the party went.
"Same old, same old". He said.
"Huh? The first party of the year was same old to you? c'mon what really happened?"
"Nothing happened and if anything did, maybe you would have known if you attended rather than stay home". He ranted and I just scoffed.
"Then again, if you did attend you wouldn't have been able to spend time with your Ava". He added with raised eyebrows.
"Are you sure you are 18 years old? Cause if you are, you'll know you aren't supposed to talk about a girl like she's property". I said.
"Oh don't even try to pretend or avoid the fact. You like her and I can tell that's who you spent the whole of last night with". He wiggled his eyebrows and I just shook my head.
He won't drop this his dumb speculation any time soon.
I thought. So I decided to remain silent and let him think what ever he wants. He saw I wasn't going to answer and decided to leave me...for now though. That much I know.
I walk silently trough the halls with Ivan by my side only to run into Cee-cee and Ava talking.
"Hi Ava". Ivan legit purrs and Ava laughs. Celia just rolls her eyes then smiles while I'm here all shocked.
Ivan crosses over to her side and wraps his arm over her shoulders then gives me a quick look before smirking, trying to get a reaction out of me. I feign ignorance and focused on the girls, but Celia wasn't having it and decided to smack his arm.
"Didn't you see me here?" Celia asked acting hurt.
I laughed at the scene of Ivan trying and failing to defend himself from her while Ava crossed over to my side giggling too.
"Yo bro help me out!". He cried out while Celia smacked him some more. I just stood there watching. I knew Celia will stop eventually and butting in will just mean I'll get smacked next. So to avoid that, I'll just stay where I am. Ava on the other hand actually helped him out.
"Thanks Ava". He said while moving away from Celia who looked rather satisfied. Ava just giggled
"Now you know what not to do". She said while Celia nodded.
We all talked for a while before we headed to our classes. English.
English class with Mrs.Newmann.
2 HRS 30 MIN LATER.
"Lunch time! Thank God".
"I thought I was going to die in Mr.Frank's math class".
"Me too".
"But finally food".
I and my friends complained while on our way to the cafeteria.
We got there and didn't waste time in getting our food and seats.
"Thank God for food". Cee-cee said with a mouthful and Ivan hummed while nodding his head.
"Mr Frank should really calm down sometimes...sheesh". Ava added.
"Calm down? Mad Frank? Ha! Love to see that happen". Cee-cee chuckled and the rest of us laughed. That was the first time since we got to the cafeteria that Nate made a sound. He was to busy scarfing down food.
We then concentrate on our plates.
"Umm...Nate, did you bring any goodies today?" Celia asked batting her eyelids.
"Sorry Cee-cee, I didn't have time". He answered.
"That's unlike you. what happened?" Ava questioned curious.
"I went to a party yesterday".
"Ohhh!" Both girls said
"And it was cool". Ivan added.
The girls just nodded their heads and Ava looked at me. I just knew where this would lead and I was already dreading it.
"Why didn't you go Jamie?" Ava finally asked and just like that, a series of snickers were unleashed from none other than Nate and Ivan.
"I didn't want to".
"More like you were avoiding her". Celia muttered and I frowned while she gave a little laugh.
"Oh my goodness! why are these people so annoying today?"
The thought crossed my mind.
I came out of my thoughts to see the four of them staring at me with smug faces.
"Aren't we supposed to be with the other guys?" I tried to change the topic.
"Not gonna work Jamie..." Celia practically sang and I huffed.
"That was legit the lamest attempt to change a topic ever. The worst you've ever done actually." She continued.
"We take your silence and lame attempts as a "yes" then". Ivan said.
"Fine, yeah. I didn't go cause I had this feeling she was going to do something weird. Besides, I turned her down yesterday. It would be weird to just show up after straight up telling her no in front of people. Not like she gave me a choice though". I explained.
"Ohhh". The girls chorused again, but this time with realization.
"What?" I asked them.
"You told her "no" during lunch right?" Celia asked.
"Yeah..." I replied. "What did you guys put together Celia?" I asked a bit annoyed this time.
"Well while we ate lunch we noticed you guys and how she looked all sad and dejected, while your stance was a bit relaxed". She said.
"Hmmm". I hummed while recalling the events of yesterday's lunch break.
"Yeah..." But this time it was Ava that spoke. "After you guy's chat, she turned to face me and Cee-cee, scowled then stomped away".
"Ooo...looks like someone was angry. I just don't get why at you two though". Ivan piped in.
"Nah...it seemed more directed at Ava. I'm just apart of it cause Ava and I are a package deal". Cee-cee said all peppy at the last sentence like she's happy to be apart of someone's hate list.
"Really?" I asked surprised.
"Yep". They both answered. Ava more irritated and Cee-cee more nonchalant. I hated that Sarah was behaving so mean to them and also trying to force me into being with her or around her. It really strikes a nerve.
My gaze left the girls once they started eating the rest of their food, only to meet Nate's and Ivan's. They were trying to see my reaction to what the girls said and from the way they are smiling, I think they got something. They refused to say anything maybe because of the girls, but I'm so happy.
"Sorry about Sarah though. I'll try to stop her". I say feeling guilty cause I can't help but feel it's because of me.
"Nah, it's all good. There's nothing you can really do to stop her. If she wants to keep being all mean, she can for all I care. There are more important things for me to bother about". Ava confidently said. She had this done look and I couldn't care less demeanour as she said that. It tickled me in a way... I kinda liked it.
"That's my bestie!" Cee-cee hyped while the rest of us laughed.
The boys and I finished our lunch, and then decided to join up with the rest of the football team. I asked the girls if they would want to come seat with us, but they said they were fine and I shouldn't worry too much about them.
Soon lunch ended and it was time for our next class. Good ol' chemistry.
