Jamie
School has just been a pain and it's only been the first day... no thanks to Sarah. I just want her to leave me the heck alone. I'm just so done...
"Jamie!" Coach Peters called out to me.
"Yes Coach?"
"I know the holidays were fun and all, but it's time for us to plan our strategy for this year". He said all father like.
"Yes Coach". I replied.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see Nate and Ivan snickering. I just control myself and focus on Coach, I'll get them later today.
"We have a few friendly matches as well as serious ones this year boys, they'll be scouts roaming the field and bleachers. Anyone hoping for a sport scholarship should be prepared. So don't forget to train and study". Coach said seriously, but with a tinge of excitement.
"Yes Coach!" We all chorused then chuckled at the end.
"Coach Peters, why are you so hyped up about it? The games aren't till like I don't know...November?" Ivan asked with playfulness in his eyes and voice.
"Well we have to be prepared, don't we?" Coach replied, but didn't look us in the eyes.
"Are you sure coach?" Ivan pried and we all watched curious.
Ivan always had his way of getting people to admit and be free with their feelings. That's what he was doing with coach and we are all living for it. "Or you just want to spend all your time with us before we leave?" He asked.
"Well you caught me Ivan". Coach surrendered and we were all left in shock. "I already miss you guys and I'm also very proud. I hope you guys get scouted too and become awesome so I can brag about you".
I looked around me and saw some of the guys all sad looking. Now that coach mentioned it, we all realized that soon we won't be together for long.
Dang! that Ivan.
But he too was a bit emotional, the playfulness gone.
"Awwn! We love you too coach". Ivan said out loud and we all laughed.
I was mistaken.
"Now you boys better not go soft on me cause of what I said". Coach said.
"We train on Wednesday afternoon 2pm sharp. Now you have an idea what we are going to be up to this year. Bye boys, you can go home". He said before leaving the locker room.
