Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch
Talon had lost the boots and the beautiful scarf. He still had a new hat though, and it would go nicely with his new clothes. He took it off and brushed a little dust off the brim. He also had a new friend, one who would make his trip a lot easier. He put the hat back on and thought of the trail ahead. Then he remembered the trail behind him.
The place where he was in his journey seemed like a place of change, like he was moving away from something that would never be again. He thought momentarily of his new clothes, also of the Clantons. They were part of how he came to this place.
