Chapter 2

What surprised her was that she couldn't read the person's energy. She was sure it was a human being, not an animal. Over the years, she had learned to distinguish between a person's energy and an animal's energy. There were only two possibilities: either he was just an ordinary person, or someone way stronger than her. So strong that she couldn't even read his energy, she thought silently. She got closer and hid behind one of the five trees. As she peeked, she could see a body figure moving at an incredible speed. Amazed, she stared blankly. The body figure was moving so fast that it wasn't making any sound. An ordinary person would only see a shadow at this speed. A few minutes later, it stopped, and a steady voice rang out: "Thunder Roar!" Not even a second later, a gigantic illusion of a tiger appeared behind the figure, and a mighty roar that created a shockwave was heard, knocking down the trees around except for the five tallest trees. The roar was so strong that it even sent Jen flying several meters away. "Ahh!" she screamed as she hit the tree. Hearing the scream, the figure immediately got alerted and went into attack mode. Before Jen could get up, the figure flashed before her eyes. Shocked and scared, she prepared herself to fight, although she knew nothing but how to run and sense danger. Staring at her was a mysterious man in black clothes with a mask on his face. Only his deadly eyes could be seen. The man sent strong and deadly aura around him, making Jen's legs shake out of fear. All Jen could think at that moment was, "I'm dead." The figure took out a dagger from his pocket and held it in a striking position. Before she could even have the chance to run, in a flash of less than a second, she was pushed against the tree and saw the dagger coming at her face. As scared as a mouse, she forgot how to fight back and helplessly watched the dagger coming closer and closer to her eyes. She closed her eyes tightly, waiting to feel the pain, but a few seconds later, to her surprise, when she opened her eyes, the man was no longer there. She stood there for a minute, trying to process what had just happened. Her mind went wild as the figure appeared in her mind. "Who might that be?" she wondered. She could feel that the person was very strong, and it was her first time having such an encounter. When she remembered why she came back here, she quickly snapped herself out of it and went to the tallest trees. She got in between and stood in the center. Looking around, she found nothing. Her book was nowhere to be seen. "Dammit! He must've taken it," she said, grinding her teeth. She stayed there for a minute before deciding to leave. As she walked between the trees, something bright appeared in the corner of her right eye. She turned her head and picked it up. It was a golden pendant. It might be his. But what does it do? She carefully examined it. With no idea what its function was, she put it in her dress pocket and left the forest. The following day was her father's birthday. She planned to leave early in the morning, before her parents woke up, and go back into the forest, hoping to meet the man again and ask for her book back. She waited for hours, but there was no sign of the man. It was getting late, so she decided to go back to the palace. As soon as she arrived, her servants, who were waiting at the gate, ran to her. "Third princess, where were you?" they asked. "The king and queen have been looking for you." "Let's hurry up and get you dressed. The party is going to start at any moment." They dressed her up and went to the hall where the party was taking place. "Jen!" both of her parents exclaimed at the same time. Jen turned around nervously, knowing that her disappearance had made them worried. Although it wasn't the first time she had gone out all day, she still felt guilty. "Mother, Father," she said, walking towards them. "I'm sorry for disappearing without telling you. I just had an urgent thing to do in the forest." "You and your obsession with unlocking your powers," her mother snapped at her. "Your father and I were so worried about you." "I'm sorry, Mother," Jen apologized and turned to the king. "Happy birthday, Father." She gave him a kiss on the cheek. Just as the king was about to say something, Prince George appeared behind them. "Ah, Princess Jen," he said, taking her hand and placing a kiss on it. "It's been a while since we last saw each other." Jen smiled sheepishly and said, "Well, I've been busy lately." "Oh," Prince George replied, turning to the king and queen. "May I please steal a dance with her?" "Oh, go ahead," the king said happily. "There's no need to ask us." He really liked George, who had a great charming appearance and was a well-mannered boy - perfect for his daughter Jen. The king watched them dance and smiled warmly. Noticing the smile, the queen asked, "They remind you of us, don't they?" "Exactly," the king replied. "The way we were in the good old days."
