Ace is howling in my head trying to get my attention but I can't focus. I lost my mate. That is all I can think about.The other couples continued the marking ceremony and everyone who wanted to leave we're allowed to, but almost all of them stayed. Miane is just floating and glowing in the air. Her father and grandfather both tried to get her down but to no avail, she is too hot to touch causing burns on their hands. "This must be some kind of spell somebody put on her, I will go check the books to see if I can find anything" I hear her grandmother say while sniffing from all the crying, but just as she was about to walk away, a light as bright as the sun emerged from Miane's body. Her body burst into flames. The flames engulfing her. "No, no, please come back I still need you, I still want you" I pleaded while tears ran down my face. I screamed in pain at the thought of losing my mate. Yelling and cursing at the moon goddess for being so cruel to take her away from me. Ace was still going crazy in my head trying to get my attention "What is it, Ace? can't you see she's gone, what do you want?" I scream at ace in my head while staring at Miane's ashes falling to the ground forming a heap. "I still feel Stormy, I still feel our mate. Can't you feel it? She is still here somewhere." Just then her ashes start to swirl in a circle like a tornado. Inside the swirling ashes is the shape of a woman on fire the ashes fall to the ground. Her hair is bright red with golden ends, her eyes were amazing one dark green and one light green, her naked body was still on fire. "oh dear goddess, I know what's happening to her." her grandfather says. Everyone was looking at him now waiting for him to explain. "She is a Phoenix, well part of her is. Jeandre quickly take that towel and go soak it in the ocean, and cover your mate with it. We have to work quickly to extinguish the fire or she will fly away." I run as fast as my legs can carry me to the water and back and cover my mate with the soaking wet towel. The fire dies and she faints into my arms, I watch as her red and gold hair return to their normal color. "Jeandre I know this is not how your night was supposed to go but you have to mark her right now. There are 2 minutes left before midnight. Please do as I say this is a matter of life and death I will explain everything to you later." He sounded serious so I did what he asked without hesitation piercing the skin of her shoulder with my fangs, my lips burning from her hot skin. Everyone else was so confused and surprised no one moved or made a sound. "Jeandre get her inside take her to the bathroom, Leila you go help him. Run the bath with cold water. You have to submerge her body in the cold water for about ten minutes. Join us in the library when you're done. I hear alpha Barry addressing the other people that were still around apologizing for the events of the night and that they will have to excuse him and he will give them an update as soon as he has one, as I carry my mate back to the house. "Luna I just have to tell you that I think she will be ok. I can still feel her and Ace feels Stormy as well. I don't know what is happening but I know she will come back to us." I say to her trying to make her feel better, and it is the truth all of it. She just nods her head yes as she leads the way to the bathroom. I sit on the edge of the bathtub with my mate still in my arms while her mother is busy with the water. My mind is going crazy what the hell is happening? What is she, is she like a hybrid or something? First, she is just a witch, and then her wolf appears out of nowhere, and now this Phoenix story. This is absurd, I've never heard of anything like this. The bath is already halfway filled and I place her body that is still wrapped in the towel into the cold water. Her skin was still hot to the touch before I placed her in the water. I see steam forming on her body as the cold water cools her down. "Jeandre, I'm just going to go get Ruby and ask her to help me get Miane dressed. I will be right back" she says as she squeezes my arm. After a few minutes, she returns with Ruby who's eyes are red from crying. I stand up and leave the room so that they can get her dressed. When I look at her naked body for the first time I want it to be for pleasure. Luna calls me back in when they are done and I pick her up and carry her to the large library where her father and grandparents await us. Ruby wanted to leave but Luna Leila stopped her and asked her to join us as Justin was already inside the room. I sit down on the couch with my mate still in my arms not wanting to leave her for a second. Her grandfather was pacing up and down the room with a small book inside his hand. Alpha Barry was sitting down at his desk and Luna Leila joined him sitting on his lap. Her grandmother was seated next to me softly running her hand up and down Mianes hair.Justin and Ruby sits on another couch closely together "Jeandre before I say anything you need to know this, both you and Miane are special.You will both be the saviors of not just our world but also the magical world. This is if the myth is true and by the events of the night I am pretty sure it is true." We all looked at him surprised and then she speaks. "What myth grandpa?" never have I ever heard such a beautiful voice.
