1152 Words
After talking to Simon and Jessica in the living room for a few minutes, Natalia went to her room as she took off her coat, scarf, and gloves, taking her phone out of the pocket. Closing the door, she took her shoes off as she laid down on her bed. Meanwhile, Simon and Jessica were still in the living room as he sat on the couch next to her while thinking about Natalia. "What are you thinking about, or better yet, who are you thinking about?" She inquired. Simon shook his head, clearing a thought from it as he turned to look at Jessica, telling her about Kyle. "It's nothing, but Natalia and I met this guy named Kyle when we were in the elevator and he's a really nice guy which you should get to know." He answered. "If you or Natalia are planning to get me to date someone that I've haven't talked to myself, then I'll give the both of you the silence treatment for the rest of the year or until I feel like talking to you guys again ." She said. "Would you at least consider meeting him?" Simon questioned. "I guess." Jessica answered. "That's all I'm looking forward to and on that note, I'm going to lay down for a few hours." He told her. "You don't have to go into the hospital today?" She inquired. Simon told her that he wasn't on call for the day, getting up from the couch and walking to his room while Jessica finished watching TV since she didn't have to go to work since it was winter break which was one of the reasons why she loved being a teacher. While watching TV, she thought about Simon's idea, which sounded like a good idea but with her past history with guys and relationships, she made a promise to mostly focus on her career and the people she cared about. Meanwhile, Simon walked down the hallway towards his room, deciding to tell Natalia that Jessica would consider his idea to meet Kyle but stopped short when he saw her bedroom door closed as he figured that she was asleep which he couldn't blame her and didn't want to wake her up as he just smiled, proceeding to his room. While Natalia was sleeping, her phone vibrated on the nightstand with a call from her older brother, Levi as she opened her eyes tiredly and glanced at the screen, answering the call. "Hey, Levi." She greeted, stifling a yawn. "What do I owe for this call?" "Hey, little sis. I'm just calling to see how you were doing." Levi replied. "Is anybody giving you any problems?" "I'm good, and everything's okay." Natalia told him. "Like, mostly everyone been really friendly." "How are your roommates doing?" Levi wondered. "They're doing good, we've been busy with our jobs and stuff but besides that, we're like the The Three Musketeers." She responded. "How's life back at home?" "Life is going good. I went over to mom and dad's to help with the tree and the Christmas lights yesterday, got a promotion at work to director of marketing and Alejandra and I are having another little one." Levi told her. "Congrats, big brother and I'm looking forward to meeting the little bundle of joy." She said. "Speaking of meeting, are you coming home for Christmas and New Year's?" He asked. "That's the plan, but it really depends on the weather." Natalia answered. Natalia continued her conversation with Levi as he told her what been happening back in New Jersey as they both joked and laughed. "Anyways, I'm not going to hold you up since you got to get ready for work and all." Levi said. "Okay, I'll talk to you later if I get the chance." She responded. After exchanging goodbyes and I love you's, Levi ended the call as he hung up the phone. Natalia placed her phone down onto the bed besides her and then picked it back up to call her friend and Victor's assistant, Connie Patel, another writer that she met to let her know that she's not coming into work for the day. Calling, Natalia waited for Connie to answer as the phone rung three times before she answered. "Morning, Natalia." Connie greeted. "Hi, Connie. I'm calling to let you know that I won't be able to come into work today because I came down with a terrible headache." Natalia replied. "No worries, I'm not coming in today as well." Connie told her. "How does that work out with you being his assistant?" She questioned. "I work on most of his proofreading and editing whenever he takes a personal leave or gets pulled into a meeting as I made a deal with him." Connie answered. "Anyways, how's your book coming along?" "It's going okay, I'm not quite finished with it but it's a working progress." Natalia told her. "Well, I believe you can do it and if you need help with anything, just let me know." She told her. Natalia thanked her and then hung up after ending the conversation as she laid in bed, trying to go back to sleep but couldn't so she got up, deciding to make some coffee for the three of them. Walking out of her room and down the hallway, Natalia made her way to the kitchen as she already saw Jessica in the kitchen making coffee as she saw the time on the stove read 6:30 in the morning. "I'm surprised you're not tired from a few hours ago." Natalia claimed. "Oh, believe me, I'm really exhausted which I'm going to fall back to sleep, eventually." She commented. "But, how was your talk with Simon?" "It was good, which I feel more closer to him but he's going through some things right now so I'm giving him space to figure everything out." She explained. "Did he tell you about this idea he had about setting me up with a guy named Kyle?" Jessica inquired. "He did and I liked it, but it's mostly your decision which we're not forcing you to make a decision at this moment since I've told him that you want to meet that person yourself first." Natalia stated. "But Kyle's really nice, though and lives five floors down." "I'm not making an official decision, but I told Simon that I guess I'll consider to it." She implied, getting their personalized coffee mugs out of the cabinet. Jessica poured some coffee and then handed the coffee pot to Natalia as she poured a little bit, saving the rest for Simon and pouring some cream and sugar into her mug and mixing it up as Jessica did the same. After fixing their coffee, they walked out of the kitchen as Jessica went back into the living room while Natalia went back to her room after thanking her for making the coffee.
