That one moment

chapter 9

Nicks pov

When I get home I just head for my room. I knew she would be upset but she really does hate me, I go lay down but all I can think of is Elle. As I groan into my pillow my phone beeps. I hoped it would be Elle so I didn't hesitate to check my messages but to my dismay it's just a number. I open the message wondering who it is. 

Alicia - hey tomorrow night were going to a party its Alicia by the way x 

How the heck did this b***h get my number. 

Me - no it's a Tuesday besides I'm doing my history project with Elle tomorrow. 

Alicia - absolutely no chance. Look if you want to keep her secrets safe then you better start acting like my boyfriend. I'll see you tomorrow. x

I throw my phone down. f**k this is getting too much for me. I lay in my bed tossing and turning all this pent up anger is f*****g up my sleep. 

Morning finally arrives after another restless  nights sleep. I get up my mood is still s**t. "Morning sweetie" my mum says in her usually sweet tone. I just blank her. "Hey nick, mum" kylie says while striding throw the kitchen getting breakfast. "What's got you in a shitty mood" she calls out to me. "Just shut up and leave me alone." I shout while slamming the door behind me. 

"Morning nick" James says I just blank him too. I just cant function or be nice while I know I'm hurting Elle. I get to school and slam the car door I don't thank James like I normally would. I go wait by the wall to see if I can see Elle. I see her by the tree taking her pills  I hate that she has to rely on them to get through her school days. As I walk towards her I feel someone pull my arm on the school steps. "Hey handsome" "Alicia. What do you want" "That isn't how you greet your girlfriend give me a kiss." She pulls my top so I step closer to her and she kisses me. I didn't respond but I also didn't pull away. When she steps back I look around and lock eyes with Elle behind me. I see her eyes water. God this is killing me. She walks past me and I just freeze. "Alicia I think chubs fancies you she was just staring at you kissing your boyfriend." Izzy calls out loudly making peoples heads turn to Elle. She lowers her head and I see Mark push her "f*****g lesbian" she hits the floor and I start to walk to her but am pulled back again. I swear if she does that one more time I'm going to hit something. I just watch in silence as she stands up running off. I mentally scream at myself. I should be protecting her. Being with Alicia isn't actually protecting her she's still a target for them. I turn to Alicia angrily. "You knew she was there didn't you. You did that on purpose" I spit out. "And what. Your my boyfriend now, I will do what ever I want with you in front of who I want. Now let's go to class." I unwillingly follow her. I get to class and see Elle sitting on her own I just want to kiss her and touch her beg for her forgiveness. Who knew one girl could do this to me. 

Were in maths and all I focus on is Elle as much as Alicia tried to get my attention. "Right class were going to have a fun lesson today. I want you to all stand in a circle." We all do as she instructs. I do it so I'm opposite Elle. Now we have no option but to look at each other, this is the first time in like 4 days I've smiled. "Right I have a red ball when the ball is thrown at you I will give you a maths questions you get it right you can go sit down if you get it wrong then the class gets to decide your punishment." I see Elle's face go from a small smile to just fear. She's not great at maths and the whole class hates her. 

The teacher throws the ball at a boy names Max who answers correctly. The ball gets thrown a few times before it goes to Alicia who answers correctly. She throws it at Elle. "Elle 92÷8×3=" I can see her trying to work it out. I try and mouth the answer to her but she doesn't get it and ends up saying "55" I mental face palm myself. "Well looks like our first wrong answer, class decide her fate" the teacher mocks. "Do 20 jumping jacks" a girl said laughing. "Ok Elle you heard your punishment" she looks at the teacher desperately pleading not too. When she doesn't get anywhere she turns to look at me. I wish I could help her I'm not really sure what I can do. "Now Miss Jones" Miss Davies calls in a rude tone. She starts doing them and I can see she's uncomfortable, everyone is laughing at her. Once she's finished she throws the ball to a random students who answers correctly they not surprisingly throw it back to Elle. "Miss she just had a go it's someone else's turn" I call out. "There is no rule on how many turns you get" she smugly tells me. "Let's see if you can get this right 45×7÷9" I swear the teacher is making her questions stupidly hard no one else are getting questions this ridiculous. I see she has no idea I hold up 3 fingers on my left hand and 5 on the right "35" she says. Everyone face is of disappointment I cant help but smirk. "So you cheated huh" the teacher walks up to her. "How did you know the answer" I see Elle's face drop. "Sorry" she whispers out. "Its my fault I told her the answer" I step forward. 

"Looks like detention for you both" she sternly says. I should be upset but knowing I get to spend a whole hour with her alone makes me happy. "Miss, Nick cant do detention he's got other school commitments after school." Alicia pipes up. "Ok Mr Marshal you are exempt from detention Miss Jones dentation afterschool" she nods her head. 

The class finally ends and Elle just leaves. I wish there was something I could do. I get up and leave, the morning just drags every time I even share a glance at Elle, Alicia is right there reminding me what she will do to Elle if I don't act like a more convincing boyfriend. 

Its lunch and luckily I don't have Alicia in my class before lunch so when the bell rings I run out of there before she can find me. I go head for the tree that me and Elle use to share. As I lean back against it I smile remembering the first time me and Elle were here. I hear sniffling coming from nearby I get to my feet and walk around the tree only to see Elle crying. "Elle" I whisper out. She looks up at me with tears running down her face. "Elle what's wrong" I ask while sitting next to her. "Just leave Nick" she half shouts half sobs out. She turns away from me and leans her head back on her knees. I sit closer to her not sure what to say. 

"Elle what's happened" I ask again. "Everything Nick. You, this place. I'm all alone again. I... I thought you meant it when you said you loved me. Was I not good enough for you. Is it because of how I look just be honest with me" 

"Elle I promise you. I meant every word, I do love you and you are perfect. I just have some things to deal with first then I promise I'm going to give you the world" I turn her head towards me. Breathing in her scent, staring at those eyes. I cant stop myself I lean in and capture her lips in mine. It's hot and passionate. I grab on to her like I would lose her if I let go. Her hands go in my hair. We eventually pull away both of us panting and smiling. "f**k Elle. I have missed your lips. Your touch. Everything. Please come study with me after school." I beg. "Ok I'll be over about 4 once I get out of detention can you text me your address." My phone beeps causing the atmosphere to get awkward between us. Elle looks away from me and I pull my phone out my pocket, I don't hide my disgust when I see her name. 

Alicia - Babe where are you, haven't seen you at all over lunch? Hurry and meet me in the cafeteria we have things to discuss. x

Oh Great. I bring my attention back to Elle. "I'll have James pick you up I'll see you soon I better get going. Elle, I really miss you." I get up and leave with the biggest smile on my face. I head back to the cafeteria where I see Alicia and the usual lot expect for Jack and Mark. Damon is there but I think that's just because him and Izzy have recently become a couple. There is also a guy called Rob who has recently been going out with Tori. I sit down next to Alicia and she instantly wraps her arms around me giving me a kiss in front of most of the school. "So what was the big emergency that I had to come?" I ask. "Tonight's party that Izzy is hosting we need to be there by 7pm. what are you wearing. Ill be wearing this sexy little pink dress I have with baby pink shoes." she just went on and on about this stupid party I don't even want to go to. "Erm I guess a shirt and jeans." The bell rings and I have never been so grateful to go to class. 

The school day is finally over, I wait outside class for Elle trying avoid Alicia. When I see her leave I grab her and pull her to her side of the hallway. "What the... Nick. What are you doing you nearly gave me a heart attack" She yells at me. She grabs her chest and calms her nerves down. "Sorry Elle. I didn't want anyone seeing us. I've asked James to come pick you at about 5 from your home I thought you would like to go home before coming over. I have to go but ill see you later" She just nods and I give her a small kiss on the cheek which shocks us both. I quickly leave and head off home. I feel bad knowing Elle has detention and it's my fault. 

When I get home I go and chat with my family. We are really close always telling each other about our days. It's about 4:30 and there's a knock at the door. As I'm not expecting anyone yet I let mum answer the door. After a few minutes she walks in with Alicia behind her, what the hell. "Nick your friend is here to see you." my mum says sweetly. Yeah right 'friend'. She comes and sits next to me sitting closer to me than needed to. "Mr and Miss's Marshal you have a beautiful home." Alicia says. "Thank you dear, Nick why don't you show your new friend around" My mum asks. I groan but stand and show her around. "Well we will defiantly be throwing some pool parties" she giggles out. We go to my room and we sit on the bed. She keeps talking bout this party tonight and goes into my wardrobe picking me out clothes. "Undress lets see what this looks like on." I don't know what on earth came over me but I obliged, I strip down to my boxers and grab my top Alicia threw on the bed. My door unexpectedly opens and my head quickly turns to see who's there. "Elle" She licks her lips and tucks her bottom lip in between her teeth. I watch as she eyes me up, drinking me in. I love knowing that she likes what she see's we lock eyes and I just smirk at her. Alicia steps out from the bathroom she steps beside me and I see Elle's face drop. She looks between me and Alicia who is running her hands up and down my arm. 

"What are you doing here fatty!" Alicia demands from Elle. I see Elle turning around "Elle let me explain." I shout.  She runs off in a hurry and I'm chasing her in my boxers. I hear Kylie in the kitchen excitedly screaming Elle's name. I enter the kitchen and see she's trapped in my sisters grasp. "Elle please listen to me" I start Elle moves away from my sister looking towards me and then Alicia again "There nothing to explain" she whispers lowly. 

"Nick why are you half naked?" My mum asks but I just blank her. "Elle nothing happened I swear I was just getting changed." "Oh Nicky don't lie to her. Just tell her the truth you couldn't wait to have me to yourself." Alicia smugly says "Just shut up. Elle I swear I didn't know she was going to come over she just invited herself." I look at Elle and she's gone really pale. "Elle are you ok?" I ask walking to her. "I think it's best I leave" She turns to leave. "Wait" I shout while grabbing her hand. "Please can we just talk for a minute" I notice everyone looking at us and she also turns her head to see everyone. Alicia walks over taking my hand. "Come on baby we got to get ready" She walks up really close to Elle and says something quietly that only Elle could hear. Elle leaves and I try to go after her but Alicia holds me back. "Son what is going on?" My mum asks. I just ignore her and go back to my room to change. 

"What did you say to her?" I demand from Alicia. "Nothing I just gave her some friendly advice." She laughs out. "I swear to god Alicia you just wait this fake relationship wont last forever." I spit out. "Your right it will last for as long as you want her dirty little secrets to stay safe from the school." She winks at me. b***h is all I can think. But I'm a true believer of what comes around goes around and I swear I will make her pay for every horrible thing she has ever done to Elle. 

We head to this party that I know I wont enjoy. As soon as we enter the smell of booze hits you. It's loud and overbearing. As I look around I wonder what happened to me, when I lived in London all I wanted was to party and drink I have been doing it since I was about 15. Looking around at these drunk idiots makes me realise just how much Elle has changed my life and in such a short period of time. I guess when you meet that one person in that one moment you just know that's who your suppose to be with. Alicia starts dragging me around introducing me to nearly everyone. Girls couldn't keep their eyes off me and I use to love that now all I want is Elle's attention and only hers. 

We start mingling and I get talking to a couple of guys that are in my wood shop class. My phone starts beeping and then these two guys I'm talking to phones beep and before I know it everyone at the party is pulling out their phones I look at the message and it's a picture of me and Elle kissing today at lunch by the tree. Everyone just looks at me and a smile automatically spreads on my face until some guy shouts. "Alicia got dumped for that fat whale." Nearly everyone at the party was laughing and commenting about Alicia. She storms over to me pulling me upstairs into a unoccupied bedroom. 

"WHAT THE f**k IS THIS NICK!" She screams at me. I'm sure everyone downstairs could hear her. "Alicia you knew what this was when you blackmailed me into this relationship. I don't and will never love you f**k I don't even like you. I am in love with Elle. I can't control myself around her." I tell her honestly. I think I can see steam coming from her ears she is hell-la-angry. "I swear to god Nick if you pull anything like this again I promise I wont stop till I see her dead! DO YOU UNDERSTAND I WILL END HER! You are to never and I mean NEVER to speak to that fat ugly f*****g b***h ever again." I nod obediently I just need to bide my time.
