I followed her. At first we walked in silence but then. “How old are you?” Kehlani asked suddenly. “I am twelve.” I responded. “Your only six years younger than me.” She said and that surprised me. “Your only eighteen and your already a Dame.” I said completely surprised. “Hehe, yeah I am one of the youngest to join the Archdukes ranks of delta but I worked hard for it and proved I was more than strong enough and capable enough to have my position. Its one of the reasons Gamma Dixon put me in charge of you, he figured that with you having someone close in age to look out for you that you will feel more comfortable then having someone twice or even triple your age would.” Kehlani said pride clearly ringing through her voice at the chance but then she stopped and the grin she had been wearing vanished. “I hope that’s okay with you, I don’t want you to feel like you aren’t well protected under me I …...” “No I happy its you though why I need a guard I am not sure but if I have to have one I am glad its you Kehlani.” I said interrupting her speech. Learning Kehlani was only six years older than me had me thinking of her as an older sister but I had to remind myself that I did not yet know what was in store for me and that this could all change in a blink of an eye. We continued on our way and then came to another set of oak doors these doors however had nothing craved or painted on them instead the words ‘Sala Da Pranzo’ above the doors. “Italian?” I asked Kehlani but before anything could be said back the doors opened to reveal the Archduke.
“Your Grace.” Kehlani greeted bowing her head in acknowledgement. He nodded back and then turned to me. “Mira follow me.” He told me before turning back around and moving back into the dining room. I did as I was told and followed behind seeing others coming in from other doors and that is when I realized that these people must be pack members. They started taking their seats around the room while the Archduke made is way to where the head table was. I saw Dixon sitting there along with a few other people and then I turned to see where Kehlani was sitting and once I did I went to make my way to her but I found my arm grasped just slightly. The pressure was enough to give me pause nothing more. I turned my head to see who grabbed me and found the Archduke. “This way Mira you will dine at my table.” He said before letting my arm go and holding out his hand for me to take. I wasn’t sure what to make of it but I had no intention of insulting the Archduke by refusing to sit with him. So I reached up and grasped his hand and he led me to the table and sat me to his immediate right. ‘This is supposed to be the seat that the Alpha would place his eldest child why am I here?’ I thought to myself as I sat down. “Lady Mira, allow me to introduce you to my mate and pups.” Dixon said. “My beautiful mate Hazel and my two youngest brats for sons Declan and Deacon.” Dixon introduced and though he called his two boys brats he clearly loved them dearly. “My older two should be here shortly along with Bentley’s children too.” Dixon added along with waving his hand to another gentleman who was easily twice the size of Dixon and his grace. “Um hello.” I said feeling uncomfortable with the huge man, as he had a cold look to him. “A pleasure to meet you Lady Mira.” The man suddenly smiled and lightened his eyes as he looked at me. I was caught off guard by the sudden warmth the man was showing me. “I am Bentley the Beta or Second in Command whichever makes you more comfortable. This is my mate Fawn and my youngest daughter Jewel. Welcome home.” Bentley said and suddenly I realized that he was a kind man he just looked rough around the edges. ‘His eyes were cold when looking at Dixon but it easily could have been because of something Dixon said before I sat down.’ I thought as I smiled at him. And then the last words registered with me. “Um Beta Bentley....” “Bentley. Lady Mira just Bentley I only gave you my title because if someone was to ask who is who you would be able to answer so please do not worry about the titles. You will learn everyone's titles but you do not ever have to worry about using them when addressing anyone.” He interrupted me with his statement. I blinked completely confused by that. “Um....” I did not know what to say to that and looked to the Archduke to see him watching me. However before I could say anything there was a sudden growl that ripped through the room.
Everyone turned to see a female demoness, her eyes red in fury and her aura swirling around her. However what I noticed most where her eyes or more technically where she was looking with her eyes. “You little f*****g human w***e. How dare you sit in the place of the Archduke’s heir. Remove yourself from my sons seat at once.” I gulped completely terrified of the female in front of me and I’m not sure how I noticed a small boy standing beside her but I did. “I am sorry.” I said trembling in fear as I tried to rise out of the seat but I felt a weight on my shoulder keeping me in place. Still trembling I turned my head just enough to see a boy maybe a few years older than me. The rage in his aura was suffocating but he was not looking at me instead he was looking at the demoness. “Finally.” The boy said an evil smile going across his lips. “You’ve crossed the line tonight and you will pay with your life.” The boy added and I could feel the tears beginning to run down my cheeks. “I’m....” I closed my eyes cutting off my words and just hoping for a quick death but instead I felt a thumb wiping my tears away. “What is wrong my child?” I heard the question and I some how already knew it was the Archduke that had spoken but I could not bring myself to open my eyes instead I started out right sobbing and gasping.
