Lizzy's POV:
I haven't heard from my dad for the last three days. I have no idea what is going on. I called and texted him. There was no answer. I know he always has time for me. I went to search for him at his house. He wasn't there. I'm afraid that Devan might hold him somewhere. I have to help him, but I don't know how. I need a good plan. The other thing is that this man is not alone. He'll have bodyguards around him. I can ask for help, but I don't know who. Mom and Noah can't do it. They have no idea what is going on. That's why Adam is my only hope. I went to the police station. Dad's boss told me that I'm worrying too much. According to him, my dad will handle the situation. I said some not-so-nice things and walked away. I guess I have to do it alone. It wasn't part of the plan, but I had no choice. I have to help him. It was enough that we had to spend so much time apart. I don't want this to continue. Dad will be with me. I'll make everything possible for this to happen. I have something on my mind. The thing is that I'm not sure if it will work. Sadly, it's my only option. I don't have the age for this, but I can be convincing. All I need is to get a few things. I hope that my plan will work and no one will get hurt.
Today is the day. I have to get prepared. Yesterday, I kept calling my dad. There was no answer. My texts are still unread. I'm starting to get worried. Something has happened to him. I only hope that he is well. Since the police won't help me, I will do it alone. The chances of me failing are high, but I have to try. Someone has to do something. It's my fault that my dad is in this situation. The problem is that I have no idea where he is. I still believe that he is alive. Wait a little more. I'll come to save you. I promise.
I woke up and went to get ready. I took some money with me. The plan will go into action. It's Friday. I can convince my parents to go out or do something together. Adam and I will meet outside during the night. He has to do something for me. This will be my last request. I won't involve him anymore. It's more than enough what he did for me. When I was ready, I went downstairs for breakfast. Ben was already eating. Hopefully, I will be able to see him again.
- Good morning. Waffle? - Noah asked
- Yes, sure. They look good.
- I made them.
- Really? Since when do you cook? I haven't seen you doing it.
- I can do many things.
- I see. Is my mom here?
- Yes, I'm here.
- Why are you dressed up? Are you two going somewhere?
- I have an important meeting. It will be for lunch.
- You are married.
- I know.
- Keep this in mind while you eat. - I said, and she laughed
- Don't worry. It's a business lunch.
- This doesn't matter.
- What are your plans for the day?
- Can we do something together? - Ben asked
- I'm sorry, but I have some things to do. Later, I have to see Adam.
- Can I come? Please.
- Yes, but the next time. I promise.
- But.
- Ben, please. I can't take you with me right now.
- Why don't you go to your friend's house? You can invite someone here as well. - Noah said
- Lizzy is my only friend.
- Why? Do you have problems at school? - I asked
- No.
- Then?
- I don't want to talk about this.
- Don't steal my words. - I said, chuckling
- Why don't you take him with you? It's only for some time. - my mom said
- I can't. How about this? I will ask Adam if he has some time for you. For dinner, you will be at home.
- Really? Will you do it? - Ben asked, excited
- I will. Next time, I will be with you. I promise.
- Thank you. I will be in a mansion.
- Yes, you will. Hopefully, not for long. - I mumbled
- What?
- Nothing. Eat, and let's go. I don't want to be late.
- We have time.
- I prefer to be early.
- I'll take waffles with me.
- No, you will eat here. If you drop them, I won't buy you food.
- Ok, ok. I'm eating. - he said and took a bite
These are the silly conversations I want to have with him. I have to get out of this mess without hurting anyone. Also, I have to come back. Ben needs me. I need him. He is my little brother. No matter what happens, I will always love him. After breakfast, both of us walked to school. I looked around for Adam. I will talk with him on the lunch break. The bell started ringing, and we walked to class.
Later, everyone went for food. I dragged Adam to the field. No one has practice today. This is the only place where no one can hear us. I need a huge favor.
- Is there a problem? - Adam asked
- I have to do something in the afternoon. Can you take care of Ben? It's only for a few hours. He wanted to spend the day with me, but I didn't have time.
- Sure, no problem. What will you do?
- I have to buy something.
- It's ok. I'll take him after school.
- Thank you. I need one more thing.
- What is it?
- You can't tell anyone about this.
- Lizzy, what will you do?
- What no one wants to do. Will you help me?
- Yes. What do you need?
- I want you to go to your dad's house and find me a pack of drugs. It better be a bigger one.
- What? Why?
- Don't worry. I won't use them the way you think.
- I have no idea what you will do, but I don't think it's a good idea.
- Adam, please.
- Lizzy, try to understand me. You are my friend.
- Nothing will happen to me. I promise you.
- How can I trust you about that?
- Easily. Please.
- Ok, ok. I'll see what I can find.
- Take these gloves. - I said and pulled a pair from my backpack
- Why?
- To avoid fingerprints.
- Thanks. I won't disappoint you.
- I know.
- Lizzy.
- Yes.
- Will I see you again?
- I hope so.
He didn't say anything and hugged me. I know how he feels, but I have to do it. I want to know where my dad is. He didn't stay away from me for the rest of the classes. After the last one, he went to pick up Ben. I went to one store. They sell exactly what I need. The question is how I will get it. I'm not an adult yet. I'm still hoping for the best. I checked on the internet. These are like dart arrows but can be filled up like syringes. If the consistency is strong, you are knocked down with one shot. I put my hoodie on and walked in.
- Hello.
- Hey. How can I help you? I'm sure you are not here for fishing rods. - the man said, chuckling
- I need ten of these arrows. I know you sell them.
- I'll need an ID card for this.
- It's at home.
- Look. I don't know how old you are, but you're not an adult.
- So?
- I can't sell this to you.
- I'm ready to pay how much you say. - I said and pulled out my money
- Kid, it's not about the money. I'll go out of the business if someone hears about that.
- Does the camera have sound?
- No, why?
- I'm with a hood. No one will see my face. I need ten of these.
- I can't do this.
- If my dad dies, I will come to kill you personally.
- What?
- You have to help me. Please.
- I can't.
- I won't tell anyone. The police won't find out.
- Why should I trust you?
- Because I know some people there who owe me favors.
- Really?
- Yes. I need only ten.
- Alright, but this has never happened. Understood?
- Yes. Thank you so much. Take how much you need.
- What do you need them for?
- To help someone.
- Your dad.
- Maybe.
- Be careful. This is not a toy. It can be dangerous.
- I know. Thanks for the help.
- I hope I don't have to do it again.
- Don't worry. This is more than enough. - I said, left my money, and left
I finished my schoolwork at home. For dinner, my parents went out and took Ben. I went to meet up with Adam. Hopefully, he did what I asked him for. Otherwise, I have to find another solution. I trust him enough to know he will do what I want. That's why we are friends. I texted him to meet me at the hills. No one goes there at night. After all, I don't want to get caught. I took my backpack and a bottle of water. From the pharmacy, I bought a syringe. I said it was for a school project. No questions were asked.
- Thank you for coming.
- No problem. Will you tell me what is going on?
- Did you bring what I asked for?
- Yes. This is what I found. Will it be enough?
- Perfect. Thank you so much.
- What will you do?
- I will crush them and mix them with water.
- Why?
- Do me a favor and twist these.
- What is this? Lizzy, what have you done?
- Don't ask questions, and do it.
- I want to help you, but I'm afraid you will get in trouble.
- Adam, there is no time for regrets. If you don't want to do it, say it.
- No, I will. Here you go.
- Thanks. Now, take water from the bottle with this syringe.
- Ok, done.
- I will put one pill on here. Can you put it in the arrow?
- Sure.
- That's it. One is done. We have nine more to go.
- Are you sure about this? It can be dangerous.
- Nothing else left me.
- Will you tell me what the plan is?
- No. The less you know, the better. Don't tell anyone about this.
- I promise, but you have to do the same.
- To promise what?
- Promise me that you will come back.
- I.
- Please, Lizzy. I want to see you again.
- Ok, I promise. I'll do everything possible to come back.
- Thanks.
- Let's fill the rest of them.
- Can I help you with something else?
- No, you already did enough.
- Lizzy.
- Adam, please. Not now. You know everything you need to know. If you are my friend, you will listen to me.
- Fine. I hope you will keep your promise.
- I will.
Adam helped me with everything I needed. He is worried, but I can't help him. I can go to the police station again, but they will tell me the same things. Dad can handle everything alone. This is not true. He needs help. Since his co-workers won't help him, I will do it. I still don't have a clear plan, but I did the important part. I can't go in front of Devan like that. I have to defend myself. Dad helped my mom. Otherwise, she wouldn't have been here. Me, too. This is why I will return the favor. I don't care what will happen to me. I hope that he will be fine.
