Kevin's POV:
We are out of the business. I have a feeling about this. None of us makes deliveries anymore. I have no idea what is going on. I wish I could know what they have found out about us. I won't be in trouble if they don't know about my real job. This doesn't mean they haven't spied on us. I tried to be careful, but it was not easy. I think they haven't seen me with Lizzy. All I want is to keep her safe. I feel like the story is repeating. I left her mom because of this. Now, she is safe with Noah. This is why I kept telling him to keep this family safe. I can't do it. Things became complicated. Sadly, my daughter is part of this. Technically, she involved herself. I didn't do anything. The problem is that she won't stop. I don't even know why she does it anymore. It might be because of Adam and me, but I believe there is another reason. She didn't like Devan the moment she saw him. Lizzy is not like the other kids her age. When something is bothering her, she won't hide it. She says what she thinks. This is what I like the most about her. My daughter is always honest. That can be a bad thing as well. Some people don't like hearing the truth. I don't mind it. The only thing I don't understand is why she keeps asking about my relationship with her mom. I hope that this will stay in the past.
Two men beat me up. I woke up in an abandoned building. It was the same as the one where we used to pack our deliveries. I was alone. I wonder what happened to my team. Maybe they don't know about them. That way is better. The person behind this was the one and only Devan. I should've known. I have been here for more than three days. He gives me food once a day. If he wanted to, he could've killed me immediately. This man wants something from me. It's not like I will tell him. If he thinks he can use me, he is wrong. That will never happen.
My hands feel sore. They have been tied up to one tall barrel. I barely have the energy to move. Maybe this was his plan. That way, I won't defend at all. I don't know what to do. I have no idea where my phone is. I'm sure he has taken it away. The good news is that I have a password. I don't believe in such things as face ID. Passwords are more secure for me. It's good if he doesn't know Lizzy's birthday. This doesn't mean he can't destroy my phone. Soon, he came with a tray. It had only water on it.
- Good morning. Did you sleep well? - Devan said and laughed
- What do you want from me? You could've killed me on the first day.
- Correct, but I'm waiting.
- For what?
- Wrong question.
- What is the right one?
- I believe soon you will understand. I love reunions. Ruining them is so sweet.
- Why am I here? Where is my team?
- For what do you take me? I know you had contact with the police. Also, I know that you got extra help.
- I have no idea what you mean.
- Of course you don't. Someone hacked my laptop. I thought it was my son, but he denied it.
- Why are you telling me this?
- Because you know who did it. Don't worry. You don't need to tell me. I already know.
- What will happen to me?
- What do you think?
- I don't expect to see the sun again.
- That is correct. You won't do it, and someone else will follow you.
- Who?
- You already know. Intruders are not my friends. I eliminate every single one. Sometimes, I don't even need to get my hands dirty.
- Will you do it or not?
- The time hasn't come. I'm waiting.
- For what?
- Wrong question.
- Not that again. You won't get away with it.
- I don't care. You will die no matter what happens to me.
- Why do you want me dead so much? I didn't do anything.
- You told the police about me!
- Prove it!
- Do you want to see the proof? Just wait for it.
- Jail is worse than death.
- I know. Do you want water?
- I won't take anything from you.
- Well, I won't give you food. That is the only thing you will get.
- It doesn't matter.
- Soon, there will be a reunion.
- What reunion?
- You will see. We both know what will happen. Some people are so naive.
- Like you.
- I'm realistic.
He keeps talking about this reunion, but I have no idea what he means. That was until it hit me. Lizzy. If I don't answer her calls or messages, she will think something happened to me and will come to search for me. I don't know how many days I have been here. I lost the count. I'm so tired that I can't do anything. Sleeping is not helping. I need food and water. Devan gave me water, but I don't trust him. He might have put something in it.
- Boss, we have an intruder. - one man said
- Bring her in.
- Let me go, you i***t.
- Lizzy?
- Dad!
- I told you. I love reunions. Ruining them is pure pleasure.
- Let him go!
- Why would I do that? I like having fun. After all, I can't work all the time.
- You are a creep.
- Tie her next to him.
- Yes, sir.
- Hey. Let me go! - she said and stepped on his foot
- Ohh. Now you will see.
- Why are you here? - I asked as he tied her up
- Because I'm not leaving you alone. You know me.
- That's why I'm asking. You have to take care of Adam.
- He will be fine. I don't need to worry about him.
- I will let you talk to each other. I'll come back. - Devan said and left
- Lizzy, what are you doing?
- Untying us. I won't stay like that all day.
- You have a knife. - I said, whispering
- Of course. I won't come to rescue you with empty hands.
- I don't know if I have to be mad or happy.
- Emotions later. Now, please give me your hands.
- How?
- Oh, right. One, two, three. Done.
- We are free to go.
- Are you sure about that? - Devan asked
- I.
- Search her. I'm sure she has more weapons.
- Don't touch me there.
- Don't worry. I don't like high school girls. They are naive.
- Excuse me.
- She is clean.
- What about her underwear? - Devan asked
- What?
- Sir, I'm not doing that.
- Alright. You know what to do.
Like that, we were tied again. This time, Devan stayed with us. I can't believe she is here. How the heck did she find me? I have no idea where my phone is or if it's working. Well, we talk about Lizzy. She can do anything. Devan kept talking about the morals of the family. Also, about other stuff that no one cared about. Lizzy looked at me. I believe she has a plan. I don't want her to do anything, but we don't have a choice.
- What about Adam? - she asked
- What do you mean? - Devan asked
- He has no idea what you are doing. He will be so disappointed.
- Life is disappointing, but we live it.
- This is not what I meant.
- He deserves something better. His mom barely earns something.
- But her money is clean.
- So? I can give him better things.
- What will happen when you go to jail?
- Who said I would do it?
- You won't get away with this. Adam will be so embarrassed to say you were his dad. Think about him.
- If I had been thinking about him, I would've stayed with his mom.
- What type of person are you?
- The one who doesn't care about anything.
- Yes, I can tell. The boy didn't do anything to you. He probably wonders where you are now.
- Do you think I will leave my son with no control? I'm tracking his phone. He is at home now.
- Are you sure?
- Yes, why?
- Because I don't trust these things. They lie.
- Why do you think like that?
- Intuition. Will you let us go?
- No. I will finish you. - he said and pointed the gun at me
- At least don't do it in front of her. - I said
- Why? She is guilty anyway.
- Please. You have kids as well.
- No, I don't. I planned to give him the business, but he is too soft. The boy won't handle it. Now.
- You can't do that. Please. - Lizzy said
- I don't listen to little girls.
- You will pay me for this. - someone said, hit him, and he shot
I received a bullet on the left side of the stomach. I looked up to see Adam. I don't think the boy is at home. He came to untie us while his dad was on the ground. I have no idea how he hit him, but it hurt. I saw a metal tray on the ground. Boys have feelings as well. Lizzy started searching in her backpack. I wonder what she brought with her.
- Everything will be fine. I'll take care of this.
- What is that?
- A pad. I'm a girl, so I always keep some in me.
- Adam? - Devan asked
- You are a liar! I thought you were successful. I was proud of you! For what? To find out about your dirty business.
- You were supposed to be at home.
- My phone is at home.
- How did you find us? - I asked
- I tracked Lizzy's phone. She didn't pick up my calls.
- I told you not to do anything. What you did was more than enough. - Lizzy said
- I'm not leaving you alone.
- In that case, I don't have a choice. - Devan said and pointed the gun to his son
- Dad, what are you doing?
- I'm sorry. I can't have witnesses.
- No. You can't do that. I'm your blood.
- But I don't care. Sit down. Now!
- Ok.
- Tie them.
- What?
- Tie them!
- Yes.
- Adam, no!
- Trust me. Lizzy, I know what I'm doing. I need your acting skills now. - he said, whispering
- Don't worry. I got this.
- Done.
- Adam, it's too tight. Who taught you to tie a knot?
- That is not important.
- The whole family is here. He won't survive, but in case this happens, I have something else for you.
- Gasoline. They are only kids. - I said
- So? I don't like naughty kids. - he said and made a trail of gasoline
- Devan, don't do this.
- I'm sorry, but it's too late. She should've thought about this.
Devan left a lighter on the ground and left. He locked the door from the outside. Great. Luckily, Adam didn't tie us for real. I tried to get up, but I couldn't. My wound was hurting. Lizzy put pads on me, but they don't help much. They only stopped the bleeding. I looked and saw they were soaked. Adam tried to open the door, but it wasn't working. Lizzy said she came from a back door. It was locked as well. This is not the end. I won't let them get hurt. Somehow, we'll go away from here. Lizzy won't give up. I want to help her, but I can't get up. I hope that they won't get hurt.
