“Hey lesbian.” startled the files she had in hand slipped from her hands to the floor. She hadn’t seen the girl, it was too early and a bit dim in the corridors.
Rose hissed, moving her hand from her chest she knelt down to the floor. “Were you waiting there to scare me lifeless.” collecting the files again and placing all the papers that slipped out to the floor, she stood once again.
With a wide grin Melody crossed her arms. “Nop!” she said popping the p. Rose frustratingly sighed bumping her own shoulder to Melody’s she walked past her into office.
Giggling in amusement Melody shook her head. “Oh please come in.” following the girl into the room she spoke with a smile on her face self inviting herself in. She studied the office, it lacked a lot of decoration but the tiny picture frame on her desk that stood facing her and a few books on a shelf to her right.
“Make yourself at home.” Melody added fulling closing the door and walking up to one of the chairs.
A loud was made as Rose dropped the files onto the surface of her wooden desk, staring right into her eyes she murmured. “Oh I bet you will.” taking a seat herself she flipped through the first file not giving Melody attention.
“So... Good morning.” the girl spoke trying to gain attention from the older woman. Digging into her pockets she waited.
“Good afternoon.” Rose snorted not looking away from the paper work, flipping the paper she scanned through the data.
With a pout Melody leaned forward both her arms rested firmly on her desk. With a quick grab she took the file out of Rose’s hand placing it behind her back. “I’m sorry for scaring you.” she apologized and soon pouted.
Rose sighed seating back down, “You mean it?” she questioned. Melody wasted no time, shaking her head vigorously she agreed. “Well then...” her hand held out she received the file placing it down with the rest she smiled at the girl. “Apology accepted.”
Melody tapped her against her own lips with a light smile, “Now the kiss.”
“Really?” Rose asked giggling.
“Come on it’s kiss and make up!” the girl shouted waving her arms in the air.
“How about a hug.”
The girl stopped her tantrum Melody thought over it. “It will do.” Standing she followed Rose’s movement. Her arms slipped their way around her neck resting her head on Melody’s right shoulder, Melody wrapping her arms her waist holding her closer to her own body.
Hiding her face on Rose’s neck Melody took in her rose scented perfume — ironic. “I like it here.” the girl mumbled breathing in her scent, a large smile on her face. “Me too. I haven’t hug anyone in so long.” Rose sighed shutting her eyes trying to keep the demons away.
“How long.” She asked loosening her grip she lightly pushed Rose off her, just enough space to have her full face in her view and still in her arms.
“Years. Seven years.”
“I’ll be your seven lost years of hugs.” she assured her pulling her into the hug again, with compassion. Melody placed a kiss on top of her head, running her fingers through her hair she smiled. “Bạn đẹp một cách kỳ lạ.”
“What did you say?” Rose questioned freeing herself from the hug and staring at the girl.
“Oh you know just nothing.” trying to hug her again the girl took a step back. “It didn’t sound like nothing.”
“Okay you caught me. But I’ll say when you say what you said yesterday.” nothing, Rose said nothing but look at the ground and blush. She couldn’t say what she said yesterday — not yet. “Then it’s settled, it is nothing.”
Rose pouted, crossing her arms. “It ain’t fair—” pulling her into a hug once more the girl quieted down. “tôi thích bạn hơn một người bạn.” she whispered into her ear placing the loose lock of hair behind her ear.
“Oh come on!” Rose whined.
“On you?” shoving the girl away she freed herself from her hold. “At least take me out first.” she smirked, turning she walked back to her seat.
“Are you free tonight?” Melody asked taking a seat as well.
Rose chuckled, “I was joking.”
“I’m not.”
Staring into her Rose stopped laughing, she really had been serious about it. “Yes I am. What do you have planned.” she asked leaned towards her.
Melody doing the same smiled. “That my love is a surprise.”
“Your love?”
“I would like you to be.” tearing away from her gaze Rose looked to the floor blush filling her cheeks. “Aww Cute.” the sound of a camera echoed in the room.
Looking up immediately Rose got off her seat attempting to grab the girl’s phone. “No don’t do that!” she whined.
As they fought for the phone, Melody still taking picture after picture, Rose accidentally pushed the picture frame on her desk to the ground.
Freezing in place Rose stared at Melody in shock — she couldn’t loose or ruin that photo. Melody reached down to picture frame, she smiled looking at it. Rose was even cuter as a child, “Your parents?” she asked looking up to Rose.
But she wasn’t in front of her. “It is okay? That’s the only picture I have of them together.” the girl jumped hearing her voice beside her lucky the picture never slipped.
“Divorced?” handing her the picture Melody asked.
“Dead..” the girl whispered looking down to the picture a frown on her face.
“You treasure it huh.”
Taking a step toward the desk she placed it down, leaning against the desk she turned to face Melody. “Yeah, I missed them.”
“Sorry..”
“Nothing is going to change.”
“It already has, I’m here now.” she stood, holding her hand out she smirked having a tremendous idea. “Give me your phone.”
“Why?” Rose asked but still giving the girl the phone. Her arm hooked around Rose’s waist she pulled her in closer to herself. “Smile!” the girl squealed before snapping a few pictures of them.
Turning to Rose she smiled. “Now of me, out of the frame please.” shoving Rose out of the way she began taking pictures of herself — Rose watched with a smile.
“There. Stare at me every night, I’ll be there and you have extra pictures to hang in your office.” she handed her back her phone.
Rose looked through the pictures. “These are silly!” she giggled scrolling through them once again, Melody was something.
“And that is not?” Melody questioned pointing to the picture frame on her desk, Rose pressed her lips together as she had no explanation — it was silly, maybe that’s what made it memorable.
“I have to go though before the staff have a heart attack looking for me.”
Furrowed at the girl she frown, having Melody beside her was something she didn’t want to end so sudden. “Why are they looking for you?”
“I’m supposed to have my MRI scan like minutes ago.”
“Melody go!” Placing her phone in her pocket she began pushing the girl towards the door. She did not want her to leave but she had to. “I thought you would be pleased!”
“Why?”
Turning toward Rose she smirked. “Because I saw a fine woman walking to her office and I followed, you before me.” she gave herself an approving head nod in pride.
“No that’s stupid!” she hissed, placing both her hands on the girls shoulders she stared into her eyes. “Us, every step of the way — together.”
“Us, I like that. Now the kiss.” she encouraged leaning in.
Pushing her out the door Rose spoke, “Yeah bye!” she slammed the door in her face.
“See you at twilight my lesbian!” Rose heard Melody shout then followed her footsteps fading out — how she loved that girl.
