Step by step she kept going up the stairs taking her time on each, not because she wanted to but she was tired. It had been a long way up and she still had a couple of them ahead before she could get to the rooftop.
Nothing planned waited for her on the other side all she wanted was to have a good view of everything mostly the night sky. She hadn’t seen Melody since early morning and she was rather missing that tune.
Finally reaching the last step Rose pushed the squeaking door. Stepping past the dim stairway she let the door close behind her as her eyes wandered over the horizons.
The sun had set but those brightly coloured layers were still evident in the sky slowly fading as the night came. Rose walked further away from the door to the edge placing her hands against the cool metal rail she stared at the sky taking in all its glory.
“Are we a night thing?”
Turning towards the voice Rose smiled, not tearing her gaze away she responded. “Can’t say that, we haven’t had s*x yet.”
“Are we going to?” the girl asked with enthusiasm causing Rose to giggle.
“I don’t know, you tell me.” staring at Melody her smile grew. “But we’re not a night thing we are also a morning thing, remember.” she reminded.
“Right...” Melody whispered her eyes too mesmerized with Rose. Staring into her faint green eyes she smiled and each time she would smile the girl fell into a trance.
Looking away from the lost Melody her eyes caught a rather romantic sight. A tiny red and black blanket was laid down on the floor right beside it to the left had been a basket and a bottle of white. She didn’t even know how Melody could have gotten the wine at a hospital.
Taking her gaze back on melody she smiled, “Is that our date?” she asked.
Being pulled out of her trance Melody quickly placed the palm of her hand over her eyes as though she was shielding her from the light. “No. Don’t look.” she spoke it panic, it was supposed to be a surprise and she couldn’t even do that.
“This is ridiculous I already saw it.” Rose huffed crossing her arms.
With a sigh Melody let her go placing both her arms around Rose’s waist she smirked. “Then the kiss.” bringing her lips towards Rose the other girl panicked taking a step back more that she should. “Calm down I was joking — partly.” Melody spoke pulling Rose away from the edge into her arms.
“Hey!” the girl complained.
“What?”
“I’m still in your arms!”
“As it should be and should have been.”
“Melody...” Rose breathed out in a warning tone, it wasn’t like she didn’t want to be in her arms if she wanted anything more that was it. But she also couldn’t control herself, the longer they stayed in eachothers embrace the more she wanted more.
“Fine come on.” pulling away Melody locked her hand with Rose’s, dragging her to the tiny blanket both the girls took a seat.
The soothing sound of music played through Melody’s phone, Rose listened untill she pinpointed where she heard it before. Staring back at the blue haired girl she smiled. “Mamamoo?” she asked, nodding her head in approval Rose spoke again. “You have good taste in music my friend.”
Pausing the song Melody snapped her head towards the lady. “Your friend? Like come on!” she whined or rather complained.
“What?”
Moving the strands of hair the wind blew to her face Melody glared at Rose. “I did all this and I’m still just a friend.” she hissed in disappointment.
Rose moved closer to Melody placing her strands of hair behind her ear she shook her head. “You are much more than a friend.” she reassured her, caressing her cheeks she smiled with content. “tu es mon âme soeur.”
Melody too had been lost in the trance bringing her hand over Rose’s she light squeezed her hand. “tôi thực sự thích bạn.”
“Playing fair?” the girl giggled pulling away from Melody she poured herself and Melody a glass. Taking it she mumbled a thank you, “Very fair.” with a peck on her cheek Melody changed the subject. “So have you ever been in love.”
It was a random question to asked one that Rose hadn’t expected. Coughing she placed the glass down and stared at Melody, “Have you?” she asked.
Clenching her jaw as the liquid ran down her throat she nodded. “That’s not the answer I was hoping for but yes I have.”
“What happened?” Rose asked out of curiosity bringing the glass cup back to her lips she took a sip.
“They stopped loving me back.” the girl mumbled staring into her glass cup rather sad. Melody felt a warm hand on hers staring up she met Rose’s faint green eyes and a bright smile. “Their loss.”
“Have you ever been in love?”
Drinking from her cup she disagreed with a head nod. “I don’t think I have. Loved I have but not in love.” she mumbled staring at her now empty glass.
“What’s the difference.”
“So much. I could love you—”
“So you do?”
Clearing her throat she avoided Melody’s piercing gaze, she did like the girl maybe she even loved — or been in love. “As I was saying, I could love you but not be in love with you because if I love you I might not like you. But when we’re in love everything about them we like even the red flags, we’re blind by love.” Rose explained.
“I see a lot of red flags here.” Melody chuckled pouring Rose another glass of wine.
“Oh really like what?” the girl questioned with a raised eyebrow.
“Our age difference.”
Lowering her glass she stared at Melody, “Wait how old are you?” it was ridiculous, almost a week or two and she still didn’t know her age.
Staring back at her with curiosity she narrowed her eyes. “How old did you think I was?”
“Twenty?” she answered with a questioning uncertain tone.
Melody giggled, “I’m eighteen. I’m not a minor though.”
“But in other states you are!” Rose frustratingly hissed taking a huge sip of the wine she shook her head. How could she not have known the damn girl wasn’t even twenty she just assumed and now she was falling for a girl seven years behind her.
Holding her back from taking another drink Melody stared into her eyes. “We are not in that state now are we?”
“I’m so old!”
“Seven years, not old at all.”
“I was 17 and you were 10.” Rose spat freeing her hand from hers and taking one last chug. “Wait that does sound bad.” Melody began to laugh which was not helping Rose in the slightest.
“Stop laughing it’s funny!” she whined.
Still not stopping Rose thought it wise to leave. As she got ready to leave Melody pulled her back causing her to fall back. Turning and struggling to break free like little kittens playing the two tossed eachother on the ground.
Thriving Melody won, pinning Rose’s arms on top of her head on the floor she kept her stare on her beauty. Staring from her eyes to her lips the girl’s breath grew heavy not only because she was out of breath but she also had a wanting in her — one that they both equally shared. “I really really want to kiss you right now.” she mumbled staring at her lips.
Slipping her right arm out of the girl’s grip she gripped Melody’s shirt, maybe it was the adrenaline fueling inside her or the alcohol but she really wanted to do the same.
Without hesitation she pulled the younger girl towards her. She had the adrenaline and alcohol to thank as Melody’s warm lips grazed upon hers, so gentle yet hungrily. Her body responded a different type of way she had never wanted something so bad — almost unrealistic.
Nothing mattered the dim sky did not nor did the spilling wine bottle running it’s essence on the floor, it was just them. Deepening the kiss their bodies pressed against the others a tight grip on eachother — almost one.
