"Alpha, rogues are sighted at the East border again." Johnson, our pack's Beta reports to my father, the Alpha of Moonlight pack. His eyes filled with seriousness, "Gather five of our warriors and let's go!" Before he followed his Beta out, he turns back to me doing hand signs, saying that he will be back later, and asking me to not worry about him. I sigh and nod my head, he knew I could understand what is he's saying by reading his lips, but he likes to use sign language as communication. After that, he scurries off to deal with the rogues. Truth to be told, rouges have been spotted more and more in the past few weeks. The dark bags under my father's eyes are even more evident than before. To make things worst my mum, his mate, is on bed rest. Recovering from an unknown illness. I walk over to the kitchen, deciding to grab some cookies. What I didn't expect was to bump into our pack's snooty b***h, Gabriella. As you can tell by her name, she is extremely beautiful, with the long black hair that never fails to look fabulous, with a Victoria's Secret model figure and so on. But her character destroyed it all. Boom. I thought. "Watch where you're walking deaf girl!" She exclaims, looking disgustingly at me, "Oh wait, I forgot your deaf." She mocks then sighs, "I truly pity the Alpha and Luna." She shakes her head and walks off with a smirk on her face. I shake my own head, and went to grab the jar of cookies. I'm used to the pack's teasing, and mocking. But, I'm glad that not all of them are like that. Some of them send me kind, genuine smiles, and would mouth a 'sorry', if we ever bump into one another. At the start, I didn't know what was wrong with me, why people keep giving me pity glances and why my classmates laughed at me. I felt left out and different as a kid. But as I grew older, I realise that my disability doesn't make me any less compared to anyone, instead, it makes me stronger. I learned how to read lips and write and do what a normal child can do, and even better. Nonetheless, my parents stayed by my side. My hearing came back six years ago. At first I was shocked, fear was running like a marathon in my veins, when I started hearing muffled noises. After that day, every night I would turn on the computer to learn everything that I have missed out on. I chose to keep this a secret, because I found that it's a way to learn a person's true nature. If you think about it, you will understand. I happily munch on a peanut butter cookie, waving my hand to Corrine, who is sitting with her mate Luke. Unfortunately since none of the pack members know sign language, I can't communicate with them. Only through simple actions and facial expressions that they understand. Which is also another reason why I'm friendless. But, I'm alright with that, books are my best friends, not to mention singing. I smile at that thought. Aza, come to my office, please. My father mind-links me. Coming! I quickly put my plate into the sink, and power walk up to my father's office. "Yeah dad?" I sign as I take a seat. "I need you to come to the kingdom with me tomorrow." He signs, creases evident on his forehead. I tilt my head to the side questioning him. "As you might have noticed, the rouges have been increasing rapidly and soon our warriors won't be able to fight them off. We need immediate back up." He pauses, using his lips instead. "And you know the procedure, the Alpha and Luna must be present as a sign of respect, but your mum is sick, so you are our only choice." "But mum-" "Don't worry I already talked to her and she agreed. Honey, understand this, you are our only hope." My dad coaxes, using his puppy eyes at me. I chuckle at his face, and nod my head, "Fine, I will go." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The ride to the kingdom is a long one, as it is about six territories away, which is a huge amount of land. Glancing outside of the window, I saw a droplets of water hitting it. One became two, two became four, and four became twenty. Okay, obviously, I'm guessing. As rain starts pelting down from the ominous sky, I made adecision to wind down the window. Not the smartest choice. My dad took his eyes off the road for a minute to look at me, questioning me with his green eyes, which I inherited. I shrug and just reached my hand out feeling the rush of the rain. It tickles a little but, nonetheless, it's refreshing. I closed my eyes relaxing, breathing in the smell of rain and nature as we drove down the isolated road, with The Weeknd playing in the background. She told me, "Don't worry about it."She told me, "Don't worry no more."We both knew we can't go without itShe told me you'll never be alone-oh-oh, whoaI can't feel my face when I'm with youBut I love it, but I love it, ohI can't feel my face when I'm with youBut I love it, but I love it, oh
