Chapter 6: New Environment

"Take it, Nelly. You might never be allowed to leave the royal mansion, as you will start your Luna training, and I might not be able to see you again. But I will rest assured that you will not lack anything with this card," Mr. Simon repeated, placing the card in Nelly's hand.

Nelly finally accepted the card and muttered sadly, "Thanks, Dad."

"It's okay. Take care of yourself, and I will speak with Elena when I get home," Mr. Simon said as he walked away with his bodyguards. Nelly put the black card into her dress pocket and walked back to the front stage to meet the royal family.

"Nelly!" Rebecca screamed as she rushed up to hug her best friend. "I am so happy for you," she said, smiling from cheek to cheek.

Rebecca was a Delta wolf and Delta Conrad's daughter.

"Thank you," Nelly whispered as she saw some women glaring at her.

"I have to go now. We will see each other later," Nelly said, while Rebecca wished her goodbye and left with her family.

When Nelly got to the front where the rest of the alpha families were, Luna Zoe sighed, displeased with the Moon Goddess's choice to have Nelly become Dan's mate.

"You are to come with us. And do not bother to bring your things, as they will all be rags like this dirty, faded dress that you are wearing," Luna Zoe said, speaking to Nelly angrily.

Nelly lowered her head and didn't say anything.

"Let's go." Luna Zoe walked away through another backstage door, while Nelly followed her. She realized that Dan's siblings had left the banquet hall.

When they got to the car park, the bodyguard helped Luna Zoe open the car door. Nelly was nervous, pondering if she could get into the car with Luna Zoe.

"Come on, get in!" Luna Zoe barked, barely containing her anger. While her husband favored Nelly, Luna Zoe disliked Nelly and felt embarrassed on Dan's behalf.

Nelly forced her feet to move, got into the back seat, and sat next to Luna Zoe in the back of the black Range Rover.

The driver started the car and drove off to the palace once the bodyguard had shut the car door.

Nelly held her breath, seated next to Luna Zoe. She saw how beautiful and elegantly Luna Zoe looked in her lovely jewels, earrings, necklace, and bangles. She radiated power and authority just by merely looking at her.

Nelly lowered her head and knew that she wasn't fit to become the next queen. The Queen would have suited Elena more than her. She wondered how her half-sister was faring at home.

"I hope that you saw that the majority of the pack members did not want you as their Luna. Not only are you plus-sized, but you are clumsy, uneducated, and also inappropriate," Luna Zoe said, her voice sharp, and Nelly felt a pang in her heart.

"If it wasn't because my son cannot reject you, I would have encouraged him to do it. You do not have proper hygiene, and you're also full of embarrassment," Luna Zoe rained insults on Nelly, still seething with rage, recalling what had happened at the banquet hall.

"You will be placed under strict nutrition. First, you will be allowed to eat only two meals a day. Or let me say, your portion of meal will be three-quarters of mine, so that you will lose more pounds. Don't you see that you look older than I am?" Luna Zoe mocked, and tears spilled down Nelly's cheek.

"I am sorry."

"Save it. You will do as I say. Until the royal wedding, let's see if you will lose more weight and look human. I do not want you to kill my first son on the bed with your overweight."

Nelly's cheeks flushed scarlet with embarrassment, but she didn't say anything back to Luna Zoe.

The car pulled to a stop in front of the royal palace, and two guards came forward and opened the door for both Nelly and Luna Zoe to step out of the car.

Once they got out, Luna Zoe spoke to Nelly coldly. "Follow me. You are going to use the guest room, as you are not going to share a bed with my son until after your wedding."

Nelly silently followed Luna Zoe from behind. The head of the maids, Sandra, walked up to meet them and welcomed them.

Sandra Matthews was a 40-year-old woman. "Welcome, Luna," she greeted.

"Yes. This is Nelly Robinson. She is going to become the next queen of this pack and Dan's mate. Ensure that you treat her right and with respect, and tomorrow, I will bring her tutor to educate her on the proper etiquette of becoming the next Luna," said Luna Zoe.

"Okay, Luna," Sandra replied, while Luna Zoe walked away to find her husband and brief him that she had brought Nelly home, since he insisted. Besides, Dan was still living in the royal palace with them.

"Where is Dan?" Luna Zoe asked Remy, as he stood at the top of the stairs and watched her ascend them.

Remy had a personality of keeping quiet, as he hardly spoke too much.

"He is not yet home," Remy said, just as his mother reached the top floor and frowned.

"I hope your brother is aware of the consequences of going against your father. He cannot cheat on his mate now that he finds her," Luna Zoe said, as she knew what was right or wrong. As much as she despised Nelly, Luna Zoe knew that she couldn't change Nelly's fate, which was to become the next queen.

Besides, her mother-in-law never liked her, but Michael couldn't reject her. So she had to accept Nelly too.

"I am not Dan. He doesn't like his mate, but I happen to like her. How I wish she was mine," Remy said with a smirk, and his mother gasped, "Remy, are you crazy? Have you lost your mind? You shouldn't dare to say that in public."
