The Lonely And The Damned Volume 1 Takano Masamune Chapter 1: Forgettable Experience *** I didn’t use to believe in fiction… I thought it was just that, the deranged mind of a sleep deprived Author… come to realize there is always some truth in every piece of fiction… “I told you this would happen if you try to defy me. Now have you finally learned your lesion?” The billionaire’s voice came off as condescending and as commanding as ever. “You what now? Are you a toddler? How come you’re speaking to me like that, huh?!” I angrily responded, seeing this man acting like he was some larger than life individual got on my nerves. “Huh?” The billionaire paused to look at me as if he didn’t recognize who I was, but to be fair I didn’t know him either. The reason for that was, because I had just woken up in this body and I have no idea what’s happening. But even besides that, I still hated the fact he was speaking to me so rudely… kids these days have no manners at all. “So you’re still going to be defiant? Even though I thought you’d learn-” I interrupted his incessant words. “Enough of that, move out of my way, I’m leaving.” I told him as I tried to walk out the door but his bodyguards stopped me. “Did you forget you’re my wife? I won’t allow you to walk away so easily.” He spoke. The way he carried himself might have sent chills down any young person’s spine but… although I’m currently in the body of a young girl, my actual age is 37. And tell me, what 37 year old would be terrified of a twenty something man trying to be intimidating? “Then I want a divorce. Don’t touch me.” I warned him with a stern gaze. “Oh? So you think you have the right to refuse? Even though your family will get hurt if you do?” He asked me, his voice becoming aggressively irritating to my ever so sensitive ear drums. “Yeah, do whatever, I couldn’t care less.” I responded as I pushed past him and headed out into the corridor. After all whatever family he spoke about wasn’t my own. What did I have to worry about other? I’m not a good or kindhearted enough person to let myself be in danger for the sake of others. This isn’t the plot of a sleazy romance novel, this is my life. “Take her in.” His voice sounded again and before I realized what happened, they’d already grabbed me. Oh, now this is how we’re playing it, huh? I quickly turned and kicked one of the men in the groin, then I followed it by punching the first one who let go of me in the confusion. Then I made a quick run for it. The hospital staff stared at me as if I was some kind of psych ward patient who’d just broken free. And I’d be inclined to believe them if I didn’t know the truth. I was currently in another person’s body. I woke up in it and I have no recollection of what happened for me to get here. And I have this weird billionaire on my trail… Ah, the reason I call him billionaire is because it’s one of the first things he mentioned upon me waking up, isn’t it stupid? There’s no way he’d actually have that much money, right? As I ran I finally found a place to rest in the shade, the sun outside was blazing and the chirping of birds was only mildly annoying. My head hurt to top it all off and I’m somewhat dizzy from all the medicine they’ve likely pumped into this body. As I turned to look at my reflection again I was once more amazed at the face I saw… It was only the blackened window on a luxury car, but in that reflection I saw a beautiful young woman likely in her twenties, maybe a bit younger, bleach blond hair that was obviously dyed, a face of smudged make up that none of the nurses seem to have been bothered to remove while this body was lying in the hospital bed, and various hikeys, bruises and scars riddling her body… If I was to be the hero in a book, it would likely be a thriller where I have to uncover the dark secrets of what happened to this girl… But to be honest I’d rather go back to my own body and be done with it… However when I went back to my previous apartment, I was surprised to see my boyfriend was there with another woman… “Babe, this is so good! Finally that old hag is gone.” A woman I didn’t recognize at first spoke, but then the more I focused my vision I saw her as one of James’s co-workers. You know the type… the one he tells you ‘not to worry about’. I guess there was a reason for me to worry about her after all… “Now that she’s gone we don’t have to hide our relationship anymore. You can finally move in with me.” James spoke enthusiastically, from his eyes I could tell he was madly in love with this woman. “With you? But I don’t want to live in the apartment of a dead woman…” His co-worker who looked skittish and younger than me. I had to admit she was beautiful, my previous body at the age of forty was riddled with scars and wrinkles, I had worked exhausting hours at work for the sake of sharing a 50/50 household with this man… this man that betrayed me… And although I worked every day of my life, and cleaned and cooked to please him, he was still unhappy? Maybe I was the only one I thought I was doing something for the two of us… “Not in this apartment, silly. I’ve been saving all this time to buy a new luxury condo in the city.” James admitted and at that moment my heart dropped. So that’s why he wanted to go 50/50 so he could save… to save for her he used me. “Really?! Babe! You’re the best!” The clearly too young for him woman rejoiced. She played her cards right I guess and I’m the loser here… no I’m dead actually… But wait if my original body is gone then… I initially assumed the soul of the young woman who’s body I’m in had somehow gotten transferred to my own body but actually it’s gone so… Is there no way for me to turn back? What’s more… now that they’re moving things out of my apartment and selling those stuff… I have nowhere to turn to… A person starting from 0 would have an easier time to bring themselves up instead of a person that had everything and lost it overnight… It’s a good thing I didn’t have much, but where do I go now? Admits those thoughts of mine suddenly a luxurious black car stopped right next to me and pulled me in. I couldn’t react fast enough and as I got dragged inside the vehicle I was suddenly on top of a man’s lap. A man clad in all black luxurious three piece suit. He held onto my waist and glared at me with a passion. “Hi?” I asked with a clearly confused expression. Who on God’s green earth is this guy? Little did I know that simple greeting would put the start of a chain of unexpected events for me. “Don’t you dare utter another word you useless woman.” The man that looked handsome on the outside of course had a horrible rotten personality on the inside. It was a given, could any one thing really be truly beautiful? “Oh, f**k another bastard that doesn’t know how to treat a lady.” I pulled back and sat next to him in the car. At this point I didn’t even care what happens. I guess I was just unlucky. “What did you say?!” His angry tone clearly evident. I glanced inside the car and noticed a bottle of whiskey in a cooling bucket. I grabbed it along with a glass. “If you’re going to kill me or whatever let me at least have a drink first.” I told him as I poured myself a glass of whiskey and chugged it in a breath. I’d always been a good drinker, hopefully this body was as well. “And you better fix your tone! Your mother didn’t teach you how to treat ladies?!” I scolded him much like a mother would scold a misbehaving child. He looked taken aback as he asked me. “Since when do you drink such things? You always complained it was bitter.” “When you grow older you begin to appreciate more bitter tasting drinks.” I remarked, I didn’t even care to hide anything anymore. My life had already gone to complete and utter garbage. I have nothing more to lose, I’ll just do whatever I please and live how I want… for as long as that’s possible. “You’ve changed… did hitting your head really cause all this?” He stared at me in wonder almost as if he was examining an animal in the zoo, such an intense focus made me uncomfortable. “Back off, I don’t remember who you are even, so why did you drag me in here?” I asked him with an equally stern gaze as the one he’d shown me previously. “You have amnesia?” He asked, looking like he didn’t believe me at first but then. “…that would explain the change in character…” He uttered quietly to himself. This man… was getting on my nerves… Chapter 2: Amnesia? *** “I’m Bradley Mildfort, or you’d know me as your ex lover…” This person spoke more calm now suddenly. I didn’t know what caused the change maybe because he was so confused out of everything I just told him. “Okay and?” I asked while pouring myself yet another glass. The car was still moving. I couldn’t tell where we were going because of the stupidly darkened windows through which the outside was barely visible. “…wait… but that guy in the hospital said he was my husband.” I suddenly remembered. Although both of these guys looked at me like I owed them money the same way, and aren’t dressed that different from each other, I still noticed they were different people, although all rich guys do look the same… “That’s Grayson Wild… you really don’t remember?” Bradley looked at me with wonder. “Wild… what a stupid name.” I spoke under my breath and laughed. Chucking down another glass of whiskey we’d just arrived at our destination. To my surprise instead of an abandoned warehouse, it was a beautiful mansion, one a normal person wouldn’t be able to afford even in several lifetimes… I knew this guy was rich… but is he THAT rich? “What are you staring at? That’s your home.” Bradley said as he held out his hand but I refused it and stepped out of the car on my own. “You mean… where I live?” I asked him, it didn’t quite click for me, how did it make sense that I owned something like this? “Yeah, obviously… seriously you don’t remember anything.” Bradley repeated to himself once more almost in disbelief. But he better believe it… after all, I can’t tell anyone the truth of the matter. “So why aren’t you leaving?” I asked as Bradley grabbed my hand and dragged me inside. “I have to explain this to your husband right? We can’t just have you wondering about like a lost lamb.” Bradley continued while we walked inside several maids and other servants surrounded and greeted us. It felt suffocating but also quite nice being waited on. “I can explain it to him myself!” I tried to argue but I felt like my forehead was a bit hot, maybe I overexerted this body right after leaving the hospital. “I don’t think he’d believe anything you have to say. Regardless of how much you try to convince him.” Bradley spoke sternly as we approached what looked like a study room down the hall. “If he’s my husband then he should understand.” I told him in retort. Even I didn’t know what I was supposed to do now. Will things go bad if he didn’t believe me? “I brought her back.” Bradley said as he still held onto my wrist and we stood next to each other. “Good work.” Again this billionaire looking guy, Grayson spoke in a low manner. “Leave her there I will deal with her.” He remarked but Bradley didn’t leave at all. “There’s more, she’s lost her memories.” Bradley explained. Now let’s see how it goes… “I could tell just by looking at her. She might have suffered some brain damage because of the fall.” Grayson spoke in a low manner as he stood up from his desk and removed his glasses that graced his somewhat handsome face… “Still I’m not planning on letting go of her.” Grayson’s eyes looked directly into mine. I don’t know what else to describe the look he gave me besides the word… ‘infatuated’. It didn’t feel quite like love, nor obsession, but a third more sinister option instead. “You can do whatever you’d like, she’s yours after all.” Bradley let go of me and shrugged his shoulders. “Hey, you stupid bastard, who are you treating like property here, huh?!” I turned to him with anger, I had tried holding back but how could I when these people here are so irritating?! “What?” Bradley stared down at me, he was so tall he had to look downwards to meet my gaze. “Haha, seriously! Hilarious! She called you a stupid bastard!” Suddenly a third voice spoke up from behind the two men that felt like they were towering over me. To no one’s surprise it was yet another ridiculously tall guy but he looked a bit different than the other two. He had a pair of sharp penetrating cold blue eyes, a head of golden hair that looked unnatural but surely wasn’t bleached and pale white skin that made him look like a sickly Victorian child… From the first glance I could tell this guy wasn’t normal… Both Grayson and Bradley turned towards this man with what I could only describe as looks of distain… “Who’s he?” I asked, I didn’t pretend to be dumb, the question just came out before I could think of what else to say. “HAHAHAHAAHAHA!” His laughter became louder and heartier than ever before. He seemed to be in a bright and good mood, contrary to the rest of the people in the room, including myself… What I am is… just a bit drunk, so I can’t be dealing with all this all of a sudden… “I like you a lot. Hey, Bradley how about you lend this one to me as well? As I see you lend her to Grayson.” This man continued to speak in this unsettling manner. “Lend?” I asked while turning towards the two of them, they didn’t seem willing to explain.
