Chapter 15 A loss for words

I slept uneasily in the window, ive slept here hundreds of times, but tonight i couldnt stay that way. after tossing and turning for endless hours i finally climbed in bed next to the girl, i still didnt sleep but i was much more at ease. Sadie kept whining how she wanted to snuggle the poor girl as she shivered a few times against the air in the room. Growing up in the mountains i guess i got used to the cold, its almost Christmas again. Sadie and i smiled at that and made a pact to make this the best Christmas, if only to make this poor girl happy again. When my alarm went off i silenced it immediately, i heard her soft sigh next to me and she peeked her eyes open. I smiled at her " good morning sweetie, did you sleep well?"  she nodded and pulled the covers closer to her face covering her mouth. 

I giggled at her " does my breath smell that bad?" she immediately shook her head " nnnoo i um i think mine does." she blushed 'AWE HOW CUTE'  Sadie your right she is. i shook my head " theres a spare toothbrush in the room across the hall ill grab it for you" she nodded " thaank you your Majesty"i scoffed " oh gosh no, please call me Sarah, only my parents get addressed that way" i waved my hand towards the bathroom.

 "When your ready there will be breakfast downstairs, you can go into my closet and pick anything  you want ill go grab your toothbrush" she nodded again and i slipped out of bed and rushed across the hall to get the spare.

Walking back into the room the bathroom door was ajar and the girl was standing in the doorway frozen. "is there something wrong"? i asked when she didn't reply, i stepped closer and placed a hand on her shoulder, she immediately flinched away and when she turned towards me she had tears in her eyes.

" whats wrong sweetie?" i asked concerned " im sorry...i...i just cant believe how nice you are. How can i every repay you". i pulled her into a hug and she stiffens, i whipped her tears away with my thumbs " theres no payment needed, as a future alpha queen its my duty and pleasure to help all those who cannot help themselves". she nodded and leaned into my embrace, i held her for a little while until i felt the mindlink tingle " breakfast is ready bring your new friend down and then we will talk after." my mothers stern voice came over.

 "Yes ma'am we are getting dressed now" i replied" why does your eyes ice over like that" she asked i shook my head to clear the link " its called a mindlink, basically we can talk to each other telepathically" "now lets get you dressed for breakfast,.....um whats your name?" she blushed and hung her head, my name is Izmerelada but my friends used to call me Izzy". i smiled at that  " Well if you will allow me to become your friend i'd love to call you Izzy" she nodded " you are already my hero so you may call me whatever you like" it was my turn to laugh "hmm.. how about dark haired delight?"

 She laughed and shook her head " oh please no it makes me sound like a snack" Umm...i im not the breakfast am i?" i leaned on the counter to keep myself from falling over in laughter " no, no not unless you covered yourself in syrup or chocolate!" she laughed then. i felt our friendship already growing strong.

After chatting a few more minuets i decided on a yoga pant and long tshirt for Izzy and i put on the same. knowing mom will roll her eyes i figured at least i would help Izzy feel more comfortable since she doesn't have any clothes yet. grabbing her hand i led her downstairs to the kitchen, the familiar chatter of the pack had me smiling. i felt Izzy tense up behind me, i slowed my steps and wrapped her in another comforting hug. 

" trust me Izzy everyone will love you and protect you, there's nothing to fear, i'm your hero remember?" she nodded into my chest and i released her continuing my leading her to the kitchen. walking in the chatter stopped and i smiled " Good morning everyone, this is my friend Izmerelda, please treat her as you would myself she is under my protection now." 

" Yes Princess" the others replied all except my mother and father who had a blank stare, i'm sure they where mindlinking. 

" Come on lets eat i'm starved" i pulled Izzy along as i handed her a plate and utensil, i started to make my plate. Piling it full on bacon and then oatmeal along with a side of fruit i noticed Izzy was only getting a small amount of each thing. i shrugged thinking it must be she was overwhelmed by the amount of food and wanted some of each. She'd be used to this in no time i thought, feeling eyes my direction i turned to see Bruce and Max both sitting in their usual spots shifting there stares between Izzy and myself.

i went to my usual spot next to Max but as soon as i sat down Bruce excused himself mumbling about training and hastily left with Max in tow. that's really odd i thought, but shrugged it off since now Izzy could sit next to me. multiple looks of disapproval shot our way, having me and Sadie growl in annoyance. 

Izzy flinched and hid her face and the others looked away quickly i patted her arm and whispered " its okay that wasn't at you, dark haired delight, that was a warning for the others that your off limits" she giggled at my nick name for her and nodded her head. 

" ill have to get used to that" i nodded to her and continued eating, poor girl who knows what all im going to learn about her past. My parents and the betas were very quiet throughout breakfast, catching them glancing between Izzy and myself but never saying anything out loud. who knew what they where thinking at this point but i was to busy trying to think how i was going to tell my parents about how i saved her and what i needed to leave out of my story. finishing my plate i waited for Izzy to finish she was eating so slow i wanted to pick and call her a bird, but i didn't want to hurt her feelings.

Finally she finished and i motioned for her to come with me, we placed our plates in the sink and she began to wash hers. 

" oh no, you don't have to do that Izzy the omegas do that part". thinking she wouldn't know what that was " an omega is the lower ranking wolves and they do most of the pack chores and maintenance. 

Each wolf in our pack has a specific job, the warriors are our soldiers also providing protection as are the Alpha king and Luna queen our leaders and the betas are our planning and co-commanders. The list goes on but thats the basics" she nodded and i grabbed her hand walking out of the kitchen headed to my fathers office. Most of the others had already finished there meal and had left to start there day. i still had an hour or so til i needed to head to school, so i was expected to meet my parents.

 I planned to ask to stay home today since i wanted to get Izzy settled in and go shopping for her some clothes. " Sarah come in her please and have your friend wait outside" before getting to knock my fathers voice filtered though the link. i nodded but realized he couldn't see that " yes daddy" i replied.

 "Izzy can you wait here in the hallway? there's a bench right under the window, i wont be long but please wait for me okay?" she nodded " okay" she went over to the window and sat down tucking her feet to her chest and looking towards me. it made me not want to leave her there my wolf whined in my head at her actions. "ill be right back" i nodded to her again disappearing in my dads office i closed the door softly.  

"Sarah, what was you thinking? Where on earth where you?" " How did you know where that girl was to save her" "why didn't you tell anyone you needed backup" "why did you shut your midlink off" the questions came so fast and so loud from both my parents i couldn't get my thoughts in order to answer. " MOM, DAD STOP" i shouted. 

i regretted it as they both sent ranking growls my way that had my wolf and i baring our necks in submission. i bowed my head  " im sorry, i just couldn't get my answers out with you both throwing so many questions at once".  

" accepted, now answer the questions truthfully you have a lot to explain"My father replied. " okay," i told my story starting where ive been on edge leaving out the s****l urges and how hard its been to control my emotions the past month along with the weird dreams about izzy i was having. i did leave out the vampire situation, especially how i was in Arcadiana and the fact i bargained for her release. 

My parents where silent for a few moments before my mom spoke " Sarah, honey i think its time we told you what happens when there are no sons to assume the Alpha King position" i stared at her dumbfounded " what does that have to do with Izzy? i cant be an Alpha Queen? why does it matter that im not male"? i answered my own question when i said it out loud, of course i wouldn't be aloud to rule, the law states that there is an alpha king and a Luna queen, an alpha queen has never been initiated into the royal line.

" Sarah," my mothers voice brought me back and she stood beside my father. he stood up and kissed her cheek moving out of the room. Mom sat down in the chair and cross threaded her fingers. " i started to tell you all of this on your birthday but we didn't have the time, your father is not my true mate." i jumped to my feet at that and shouted, "What?!" 

"Sarah sit down" my mothers scolded me, i sat reluctantly back into my seat. "Now my true mate was a warrior in the smaller pack to the border. We would sneak away together quite often." she blushed at that and looked toward the window. The snow had been falling for a while now blanketing the window in ice around the edges. 

 "Manuel was a wonderful wolf, strong, handsome and very protective, but when i told my family of him and his rank, my father forbid the bond from us." my heart ached for her as a lonely tear slid down her cheek, she wiped it away and looked back at me "i was ordered to reject my mate on my eighteen birthday, that night a party was held for me and i was introduced to your father. Days passed and i was told an arranged bond and marriage had been set in place for Samuel and I. "  

I was at a loss for words, my parents where not mates,but they where so close, she continued " your father had also been ordered to reject his mate as well, she was  a maid in the castle. while it doesn't seem fair it did work out for the best, after the marking and mating we have a strong mate bond now. I Also have 2 beautiful girls and a wonderful mate who has been an exceptional father to you girls."  

she smiled at me and more tears started to form. " Mom, what happened to your true mates?" i almost cried as she covered her mouth to keep a sob from escaping as the tears became more fluent down her cheeks. i scrambled to the chair she was in and wrapped my arm around her squeezing her tight as i could. She cried for a few more seconds, shaking lightly.

 When she finally regained herself she was hoarse and just barely a whisper " they were executed".

To say i was shocked was an understatement, i could not form words whatsoever. My heart hurt for my parents and there losses, my mind was replaying over and over that there mates where murdered. How can that be, i knew the council and leaders where cruel even how ruthless they could be but to execute someones mate because they aren't a suitable rank is beyond me. 

Does that mean that if my mate isn't a alpha or beta that they will be executed as well. i turned to my mother as she was still trying to regain her composure. " Mom, why are you telling me all of this?" she shook her head as if trying to sort her thoughts " Because sweetie, if the girl you saved is your mate, she is human, although she can be turned she is not of royal bloodline and will only be werewolf not pure in Lycan eyes."

 I opened my mouth to reply but found myself yet again not able to speak. ' TO HELL THEY WILL' Sadie came forward in an aggressive stance, we shouldn't worry right? but even still that keeps us both on edge. Atleast i understand their behavior now, before i could finish my thoughts my father came back into the room embracing my mom and kissing her forehead.

 " Sarah, do you understand now why we needed to tell you without her in here?" i nodded' Sadie i need to know is Izzy our mate?' AS MUCH OF AN ATTRACTION AS I FEEL FOR HER, SADLY NO SHE IS NOT OUR OTHER HALF " dad, mom Izzy is not my mate" at that both my parents gasped in shock.

 "But you are so possessive of her constantly touching her, even insistent on her in your room. " i snorted " Yeah, shes human, i just saved her from being lunch for the undead and then i turned from human to wolf in front of the poor girl. Of course im protective she needs stability, i don't know all of her history but from what i do know she was a vampires chamber maid and that in itself warrants my behavior." 

My parents nodded at my reply, "so is that all?" i ask ready to find Izzy, im sure shes a nervous wreck by now. My parents nod in response holding one another close. " oh by the way im staying home today and taking her shopping for clothes and i want her in the room across from me please, along with i need her enrolled in school." 

My parents gasp at my basic orders to them. " i will look into the school Sarah but we don't know if she has been a missing person or what her reason for your dreams about her are. i will allow her to stay close to you but she will also be under surveillance until i see she isn't a danger to us" My fathers voice was final as he closed our discussion.  i left without another word to find Izzy still in the same position on the bench. She smiled and immediately ran hugged me, i returned the hug soothing my wolf of her safety, " Lets get to shopping dark haired delight" she giggled and nodded as we made our way to the door.
