A sharp pain slicing across Jay’s neck caused him to flinch at the breakfast table, making him take a sharp inhale as if the air from his lungs were stolen. Fortunately, Olivia was telling a story that kept the whole table from noticing his flash of distress before he got his composure under control. He had felt restless all morning and hardly slept during the night, but he wasn’t sure if it was his own discomfort at Charlie leaving, or he was feeling her through their bond. Now, he knew there was something happening to his mate and felt his heart begin to pound as his thoughts spiralled to dark places.
