Charlie froze when the mindlink filled her thoughts. It hadn’t happened in a while and threw her off guard whilst she had other things stealing her attention. Fortunately, Marcus snapped into action and dragged her with him out of the bed. Before they were even out of the room, a second mindlink came, this one from Beta Mike.

A growl echoed just outside of their room, and they opened the door to see Isla being pinned to the wall by Dex. She was squirming in his hold, snarling at him to let go.
“What are you doing?” Charlie shouted at the pair.
“I’m trying to be a Crescent Night warrior and do my duty, but this big oaf won’t let me go.” Isla snapped. “What, do you think I’m weak?”
“No.” Dex grunted, but he didn’t release her.
