Becoming Luna

Thirteen Years Earlier “What should we do with her Alpha?” In his warriors arms, curled up in a ball, was a small girl. She was unconscious, but breathing steadily. “You found her at the border you said? Was she alone?” The warrior nodded. “Yes sir, there were no other scents traced..” Alpha Jacob frowned, he didn’t like it but they couldn’t leave her there, she was so young. Rogues would get her no doubt, and against them she didn’t stand a chance. “Take her to the pack hospital, when she wakes up we’ll figure out what to do with her.” He turned to the rest of his men, “carry on with regular patrols, if you catch wind of anything suspicious let me know.” They all nodded and took off back into the woodlands surrounding them. Alpha Jacob made his way back toward the pack hospital. There was only one person who would know what to do in this situation. ‘My dear, meet me at the pack hospital.. we have a situation on our hands’ He felt his Luna panic, but the mind link remained silent. She knew better than to ask questions when he was in the middle of something. They were a team, without her he would be lost. Luna Rose had bought so much to the pack already, everyone adored her. She really was his better half. As Alpha Jacob approached the hospital, he noticed not one but two figures stood outside waiting for him to arrive. Lucas spotted him first, “there he is mum!” He cried out, pointing directly at Alpha Jacob. Luna Rose turned and made a beeline for him, hugging him tightly before slapping his lightly on the shoulder. “Don’t you dare do that to me again..I thought someone was dead!” Alpha Jacob grinned sheepishly, maybe he could have been a little less vague. “Sorry love, why don’t you follow me,” he kissed her cheek and took her hand, leading her through the pack hospital doors and down to one of the main treatment rooms. Luna Rose peered through the window. There was a tiny girl lying peacefully in what appeared to be a huge hospital bed. She looked weak, slightly underweight. “Jacob, what is this?” She asked, glancing back at her husband for a moment. “This is the situation. She was found out at the north border by one of the warriors. She was already unconscious..” he explained, picking up his son so that he could see what the Alpha and Luna were talking about. At only 8 years old he was already showing an interest in the pack - Alpha Jacob had high hopes for him. “I see.. well, we will wait until she wakes up before we make any sort of decisions. I’m sure she’s been through enough,” Luna Rose stated, carefully opening the door to the treatment room and taking a seat next to the little girls bed. Alpha Jacob gave his son a look, “I think your mum already knows what she wants to do, and I think she’ll get exactly what she wants,” he smirked, causing Lucas to laugh.. Present Day Evan POV “Evan, come on.. let’s go! The Luna is looking for you.” I closed my eyes, imagined calm and took another swing at the punchbag hanging in front of me. It felt good. I’d been here training for most of the day, and whilst I didn’t want to admit it.. Kayla was probably right, Luna Rose would be looking for me. After all, it was my 18th birthday party she was throwing. Don’t get me wrong, I’m super grateful to her - ever since they found me at the border alone and unwanted, they took me in. Treated me like family, I adored the Alpha family. But big celebrations like this weren’t my thing. Just this once I’d made an exception, after all it wasn’t everyday you came of age and finally got your wolf. “Alright, alright.. keep your knickers on” I laughed, turning my attention to my best friend. Kayla was an omega, she was a petite, 5ft 2, brunette, with big chocolate coloured eyes. Everything about her just screamed cute, and that usually drew the male wolves in. She played the role of airhead well, but she was classy about it. Not like the other bimbos we went to school with, Kayla had just enough smarts to make it work to her advantage. We were polar opposite. I stood at 5ft 9, with long blonde hair and bright green eyes. My skin was pretty tan, I spent as much time outside as was physically possible..and I didn’t have time to be an airhead, I was too focused on training. Blue Moon had done enough for me growing up, I wanted to protect them and become a top warrior - my pack was my family and it was time I gave back to them. With a roll of the eyes, Kayla turned and led the way. She wasn’t impressed, but she’d soon thaw out. Once she got her hands on my hair to do whatever it was she was envisioning, she’d be all warm and cuddly again. We made our way back to the pack house and headed up to my room where undoubtedly Luna Rose was waiting. Kayla was slightly older than me, she turned 18 three weeks ago and had already got her wolf, so I was pretty certain she’d mind linked the Luna to meet us there having hunted me down at the gym. I opened the door to my cosy little room, and laughed. I was right, Luna Rose was stood there, arms folded not looking amused. “I lost track of time?” Grinning at her, I watched as her face melted. She couldn’t stay mad at me, it had never worked. “Well, you’re here now. Get showered and let’s get to work.. we don’t have much time left!” I honestly didn’t understand what both of them were on about.. we had plenty of time.
